I can't decide if I should wear my fit bit while I am running/walking on the treadmill or just input the calories that I burn on my fitness pal. I only had my fit bit on for 30 minutes on the treadmill and I only managed to run 5 minutes of it. The calorie count on the treadmill was 130. When I synced my fit bit it said I had burned 1034 calories and had climbed 15 floors. The mileage was right on both so I think I may not wear it when I am on the treadmill because it will put my calories burned wayyyy off.

I'm confused, are you concerned that the two are computing different numbers for calories burned? or would you be double counting those calories burned?

I am wondering which numbers would be right to record. I know the 1034 calories burned on my fit bit can't be right. I think I would be double counting them if I recorded them in both sites.

I'm not sure either is, honestly. gym machines are calibrated to spit out numbers based on a steady output from the runner. I'm under the impression that you can specify what the activity is that you're doing, on the fitbit. I could be wrong though - I'm not all that familiar with fitbit, but I am a MFP user. I looked at fitbit for the first time this morning, after reading some very positive feedback from a friend. it seems that there is a MFP-type tracking tool associated with fitbit, do you think you could consolidate all your tracking to one place? the site would track everything collected via your fitbit and then you would manually enter your foods like you're already doing via MFP.
that just seems easier to me. YMMV.

I do have my fitbit account connected with my MFP account. So I usually just put my food into my MFP site and then it goes over to the fitbit account. I guess I will do some research and see what I can find out.

you can connect the two? nice! that's probably going to be the least stressful way to go.
if you find out any cool tips, would you update here? I'm putting serious thought into picking up a fitbit. I haven't figured out how to incorporate that info into anything else I do as far as tracking goes.

I love the fitbit. I have only had it a few weeks. I average 14,000 steps just at work each day so that was eye opening.

I don't have a fitbit but I am on myfitnesspal. I'm 218Beth if you want to friend me. No worries if you want to keep your anonymity or internet lives separate.
