I'd vote Oregon Coast at that time of the year & visit Tilamook too :-)
Chelan is always on fire this time of the year, so I gave up trying to camp over there. Too erratic as to whether campgrounds would be open or not.
Maui is nice, but I'd want to do that with a nanny or sitter so you could actually snorkel and things like that. If you go at a time that is a school break you can 'hire' a high-schooler to nanny for the week.

Love me some Cannon Beach, but I agree with Archie--how could you pass up Maui? Because the 5 hour Hawaii flight with a baby is rough -- all the planes used for Seattle to Hawaii have 'extra seat rows' installed so you are crushed in like sardines. As in NO legroom. Maybe honey is planning to fly first class & then it would be fine. I would not attempt to do a hawaii flight coach with a lap-child. Just my opinion.

I gave up on the "lap child" idea when DD was 10 months. No thank you!! We'd probably not do first class though, either. H said he'd probably rather stay local so looks like we are down to choosing between the San Juans or Oregon!

honeybbq I don't think I responded to your question about Victoria. While there is plenty to do and see for a few days in Victoria, I don't think you'd want to spend a week. OTOH, if you enjoy car travel, exploring the island can very easily take a week or more. There is a car ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria....

GG - Maybe we'll pop up there for a day or two. Might be fun. I have some Canadian funds in my desk drawer I need to burn.

A side note about flying coach with a lap child: My friends did it last year with their 18 month old granddaughter. The ratio was 5 adults to one toddler (parents and 3 grandparents) for the 13 hour flight overseas. It worked out because they were given 5 bulkhead seats and the adults on each end kept her from wandering off. Also some watched her while the others napped.

There are several museums including the Royal BC Museum right there. If you go, be sure to wander through the Empress lobby and have tea at Murchie's.

I also love Victoria, and it's a great day trip if you are doing the San Juans. As long as you are in season, the WA State ferry that does the San Juan run also goes to Victoria, so it's very convenient.
We went to Orcas Island one year in January. Obviously, it was very off season, but we had a great dinner out at a restaurant that used all fresh, local ingredients, and enjoyed doing a little bit of wandering around town. We were there mostly to get away from the MIL (who was living with us at the time), and I was getting sick, so we spent most of our time in our cabin, which had it's own hot tub, and had brought our XBox and Guitar Hero with us, so didn't do a whole lot. I would though, go back in a heart beat.
