In the past 7 years since I have been earning a paycheck I've gotten paid: -> twice a month (the 15th and last day of the month) -> every two weeks -> every week
Yes if your budget is on point, you have savings/emergency fund; it shouldn't matter. But that is not the question here. My questions are: -> How oftern do you get paid now? -> What is your preference?
Currently: -> I get paid every week and my wife every two weeks.. -> I prefer getting paid every week if I had to choose.

I get paid on the 15th and last day of the month. my wife gets paid every two weeks.
I don't care how often I get paid. It wouldn't make a difference to me.

I used to get paid every week. My ex gets paid every other week. With the new job I'm starting Thursday, I'll get paid twice a month, the 15th and the last day. Since I haven't started receiving my pay yet for the new job, it's hard to say what my preference will be but I think I'll like it better that way. We'll see.

For the first five years of my career, I was paid every two weeks. (Two different employers.) My current employer pays twice a month. DH gets paid monthly.
I have a very slight preference for once or twice monthly just because you don't have the monthly variation in income the way you do with an every two weeks schedule. But I really don't care one way or another.

My first job, I got paid the 10th and 25th of each month. Later, I had a job that paid the 1st and 15th. Now I'm on the every 2 weeks, which I much prefer. There's monthly variation only 2 times a year, and since I know I can live from month to month without those 2 extra paychecks, that's all money that can go toward debt payoff and savings goals. However, my favorite was when DH and I were both on every two weeks, but opposite weeks. That meant that every Friday was pay day and we got 4 "extra" paychecks a year. I never had to think about budgeting because we spend on weekends, and there was always more money in the account on Friday.

In the same vein, I've got a lunch date on Friday this week with a friend because that's her payday. I don't really care what frequency my pay comes in as long as it's not any less often than once per month (just for cash flow purposes, I find it easier to have smaller chunks coming in more often than larger chunks less often...in the end it's all the same, I know). I do somewhat prefer the 2 times monthly option to the every two weeks option...Makes monthly budgeting a lot more straightforward.

I get paid bi-weekly. I would prefer to get paid weekly. It would make my budget spreadsheet look better.

It really shouldnt make a difference, but I like bi-weekly pay days because it helps me with annual budgeting.
Our semi-annual car and life insurance bills are due at the same time as we receive our "extra" paychecks. Also, it just so happens that my annual car registration is due at the same time as my first "extra" paycheck. DH's is not, and that bill kind of annoys me.
The rest of my first "extra" paycheck goes towards vacation and the second "extra" paycheck goes towards Christmas and birthdays (immediate family members. Other birthday gifts are an item in our monthly budget). So outside of emergencies, these 2 paychecks cover nearly all of our non-monthly budget items
As a result, I can run my budget on a monthly basis.

Things just seem to flow better when a paycheque comes in every week as opposed to two coming in every two weeks...

I worked for a sub of Prudential from 1985-1995 and I think they were paying weekly till around 1988. In a way, I'm not sure if I'd like that anymore. More cash flow is good, but now I've got it down to a routine every 2 weeks, which has been my schedule since then. I also like the 2 "extra" paychecks that get spent, saved and donated different ways every time depending on our situation.
I could handle monthly but would be a bit annoyed at the company hanging onto my money that long.

My previous job I was paid bi-monthly. Between that and being an hourly employee my checks obviously fluctuated which is definitely manageable but wasn't a fan.
Current job is bi-weekly and I definitely prefer this. I budget throughout the year based on 2 checks per month and two months out of the year I receive 3 checks. That extra check goes right into savings.

How oftern do you get paid now? What is your preference?
Pension on the 1st. SS on the 4th Wed. I'd much rather get the SS during the middle of the month.
Both are auto deposits.

That is most of my friends for ya... we mostly try to schedule everything around all our paydays ;D ;D ;D So drinks/party mostly around thursday and friday nights since at least once of us will get paid around that time and we will cover the person or two that did not get paid yet.

GAAAHH!!! This is why I'm too paranoid to even carry around a few hundred in cash, let alone an entire paycheque...I have the tendency to lose things when I'm out and about, and even if I don't lose them, I still act like a paranoid maniac until the object of value has been put in a safe, stationery place.

But I stopped that quick after I lost a whole paycheck after cashing it. When I first started working for my last company (18 years old), they didn't have direct deposit yet. I didn't have many expenses at the time and I didn't go out and spend my entire check so I'd save up a month's worth of checks or so before cashing them and depositing them into my account. I figured why go to the bank every week if I didn't need to. I think the most I ever had at once was 4 checks.

Once/month. I've been paid like this for the last 25 years and once you're disciplined, it works well. All my bills are scheduled to come in and they're all paid at the same time. Other than one bill (my electric bill, which comes in a week later and I cannot get it moved), everything gets paid and I don't have to worry about anything until the next month.

I get paid bi-weekly, DH is weekly.
I think weekly is convenient, but bi-weekly helped me develop my planning skills lol. The great thing about bi-weekly is that you get an 'extra' paycheck 2x a year (3 pay periods in one month). But, if I had to choose- weekly is just dandy : )

My wife and I get paid every 2 weeks and they just so happen to be on opposite weeks. Over the years, we've been on a lot of different systems and it really doesn't matter to us. I do like every 2 weeks though because I budget against 2 paychecks a month and the 3 paycheck months usually pay for vacations.

Like I said in the other thread, I would just multiply my weekly check by 52 and divide by 12, and then you'd have the average amount of extra money for savings and spending after bills are paid. But the "extra paycheck" is a good way of looking at it too. It's like a small windfall LOL

I've been paid many ways. Daily as a waitress (my teeny paycheck did come weekly), monthly with my first professional job, then twice monthly, now two weeks. I prefer my pay structure now. It's not like i ever risked not paying anything on time, but I just prefer this way. Monthly, I was a paycheck nazi scouring every purchase to make sure it wouldn't tip the scales. Twice monthly was fine, I felt a little "shafted" that I couldn't take advantage of the "extra" paycheck.

I get paid on the 15th and 30th (NOT bi-weekly, twice a month).
If I could CHOOSE, I would dearly love to get paid once a year so I could allocate all funds to their designated spots in one go. Not that any employer would ever do that.
Of the ways people actually get paid, once a month is my favorite for ease of budgeting.

I get paid monthly, supposedly on the first, but it's usually the 3rd, 4th, or whenever boss gets around to making checks out (small company). The first year I worked here it was really hard since we lived paycheck to paycheck and were just figuring out how on earth to budget for once a month. Now it doesn't really matter. I also get about 1/3 of my take home salary at the end of the year. That I don't really like. I'd rather get it all in normal monthly checks. My boss said he'd rather pay us all just once a year, I think he's crazy. but apparently it'd work for FIREBIRD It feels to me like the IRS holding people's money all year and then giving you a fat check at the end that you could have been investing or making interest on yourself
