The "No more Red Ink" movement by the newly elected Republican members of the House of Representatives is not what the good old boys want from such upstarts. But if the movement gains traction, there may be another "House cleaning" on the horizon. ".......House Speaker John Boehner is ignoring legislation introduced to forgo an increase in the debt limit as well as the campaign promises of 87 House Republican freshmen to stop further borrowing by the federal government,,,,,,,,," Read more at: www.wnd.com/?pageId=261417

".......House Speaker John Boehner is ignoring legislation introduced to forgo an increase in the debt limit as well as the campaign promises of 87 House Republican freshmen to stop further borrowing by the federal government,,,,,,,,," This should be played over the speakers in both chambers of congress. I couldn't have said it any better.... “The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can't pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.” ~ March 20, 2006 - Senator Barack Obama

Hopefully the Republican Party will be pulled further to the right. A strong right Republican nominee for President would be great also. This will help the American people have a clearer choice in 2012.

Wow, that should be put in bold print on billboards across the country. And we wonder why our elected officials have creditability issues.

This will help the American people have a clearer choice in 2012. It sure would. It's been a long time since we've seen a POTUS with "balls" enough to do what's right rather than the status quo of only doing what's politically expedient.

Absolutely, this quote, and Obama's subsequent abandonment of it, will be the campaign slogan for every fiscal conservative running for office.

Well I understand the Presidents delima. but we at present cannot even pay the interest on the debt we have now without just printing more money which further weakens the dollar. The iceberg is ahead so we must change course pretty quickly.

Speaker Boehner , ok. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt and believe that he will try to be a good partner , tough on his beliefs true, wouldn't want it any way, but willing to listen and actually work to get the deficit down in a responsible way. However , he is still a political one with the faults of all of them, on all sides , and instead of letting this go, is fighting tooth and nail for his area. There are other states involved too , a few other repreentatives but he is the big dog here, so will have some support , but no one wants it. It's not a lot but some one just came up with a $23 million a year possible savings, unneeded program , selective service, tiny one and most were in favor , start small, keep looking for more , it adds up This one is almost $3billion. No one who is involved, military over all, Air force specifically{the planes belong to them, would think they know what they need , right? Air force , airplanes, don't they go together some how? Thought so. Secretary of the defense, joint chiefs, Pentagon, the President, none want it. OK , politically, President , his druthers don't count, {don't know why , but for arguments sake, say he is out of the picture, but still leaves three, voter nada on it. Last three years, no $ in budget for it, but still funded in a round about way. Definition is F-135 engine for the F-35 , engine contract awarded to Pratt and Whitney. Boehner want a alternative engine developed by GE just in case...Ge is in his area as a company. Sorry , did I say $3 billion, I was wrong, only 2.9 billion, me bad. This is not some newbie representative from some where..this is the speaker of the house who wants cuts, cuts, cuts and more cuts, yet ...and no one in their right mind, studies prove , wanted , necessary, would cost a lot of planes not built if it's authorized, yet....looking out for the country's interests or...even conservatives here, what say you all..help me out here, he's your boy. ----------------------------------------------------------- "F135 Delivers the Best Value for the F-35 Four out of five independent studies have concluded that an alternate engine will not save money over the life of the JSF program. The Administration and Pentagon budgets have not funded an alternate engine for the F-35 for the past three years. Continued funding for an alternate engine has come from Congressional earmarks. In fact, funding the alternate engine has taken money away from the overall JSF program, reducing the number of aircraft which can be produced. The total aircraft impact of continuing with the alternate engine could be a reduction of up to 40 aircraft, which will drive up the unit cost of each plane. In his remarks on changes to the defense budget delivered on April 6, 2009, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates announced his intention to eliminate “programs where the requirements were truly in the exquisite category and the technologies required were not reasonably available to affordably meet the program’s cost or goals.” At an additional cost of $2.9 billion, the alternate engine falls into the “exquisite” category Secretary Gates describes. The Joint Strike Fighter does not have an alternate fuselage, alternate avionics, or an alternate air frame. The alternate engine will not lower costs for the Joint Strike Fighter program and should be eliminated"

The donnybrook is just beginning. There is going to either be a new approach to spending other people's money, or by the time of the 2012 elections there will be a new slate of politicians coming on line to replace the ones in Washington now. ". . . . . Rep. Reid Ribble, R-Wis., confronted Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke in a budget committee hearing last Wednesday on an earlier statement Bernanke made that it would be "reckless" for Congress not to approve an increase in the $14.3 trillion debt limit. "Is it not also reckless to have the level of uncontrolled spending that the American people have been witnessing over the last 20 years or so?" Ribble asked. . . . .."
