Ok, I don't know how to do a poll, but if you want Karma back, say so here! I figure it could be a good way to rate the mods.

Rick, I just figured we can't have the oppression we had on MSN, always subject to the whim of a mod. Believe me, you would not want me as a mod. I would be too lax, as I believe in free speech, etc.

No because they would be attacked. You dont have to agree, but play nice and you wont have a problem. Have you ever been banned on EE. If so Im sure you were warned and didnt heed the warning

Actually Rick, with no warning, and as far as I could tell without a reason, other than being on the thread. When I asked the mod, I got a smartass answer. Yep, that started my hatred of the MSN mods.
I have a better opinion of the EE posters than you. I suspect they would exhalt or smite with fairness.
We will have to agree to disagree on this one. My opinion will never change as I suspect yours won't.

Moderating cannot be an easy job, but I do think it might not be as difficult here, as there are not so many posting restrictions.

A good moderator should do their best to keep their feelings as unbiased as possible, and that is very difficult to do. As far as my opinion goes, there was really only one mod previously that used mod powers in a very biased fashion, and IMO should never have been made a mod.

I wonder if there's some way to tell who is "abusing their powers" and ban them only from karma? Why does one bad apple ruin the bunch??

I do not think that the smite and the karma buttons would be a good way to rate a mod. Hell we were running all over the place smiting and exalting until we were exhausted. It is a horrible way to rate a mod.

Having said that...the exault/karma feature was fun! It is sad that a few cry babies had to ruin it for us. I fear that constantly complaining about things will ruin the whole board for us. Blue, I like you. I do. BUT you need to let your hatred for the OLD Mods go and move on. I am afraid your constant bitching about them is just going to make things suck over here. We know how you feel, and many feel the same way. You opinion has been stated and noted. Can we all move on now?

Morning all, I just came over from that other place , 'political" to see how your voting is going and saw your comments on Mods, free expression and all. I would come over at times on the old to just observe a bit, rarely commented and the one thing I found was that it was a mellow , fun place, rarly seriouse stuff, and if came about, quickly put on the back burmer. I took it it was what you all, great majority of, wanted , and I believe it was Sam who was the chief Mod here? I believe so anyway, and it was what you wanted. Just to let you know, if you want less moderating and more freedom , the zone will change, I guarantee you, hard to have both, see what "political" is. For us , we are use to it and we seem to get the posts out there but there are major disruptions at times, and not sure that is what you are really looking for, or at least I don't think so.
Ok, my thoughts, leaving now but it seems for a new site, you all seem to be doing just fine, congrats Lassie, looks like you found a good home..LOL

Angel, you sitting on sand paper. I have held my tongue too long about some miscreants, who I blame for the demise of the MSN boards. My venting will stop in a few days.

bluerobin, the MSN boards are shutting down because MSN failed to execute its own business model properly. No one miscreant caused the shut down although MSN's failure to deal with miscreant posters and moderators certainly contributed to the business failure.

Blue, I know you didn't like some of the mods but I believe
the board shutdown was a business decision that had nothing
to do with how the boards were moderated.

Most of the whiners were on P&M and brought all their old baggage [and enemies] here from the old location. Others were trying to bag as much bad karma as they could before possibly being banned (at least that was one person's goal).
