If you are going to accuse us of blaming the departed, quote us.
Or just ignore it, and continue on your rant.

If size is ab issue in proper restraint then thar is up to the engineers to have determined in advance any height weight or size requirements. Sheesh. Didn't this woman claim that the hydraulic arm restraint hadn't locked and they ignored her and started the ride anyway?

Sounds to me like a poorly trained attendent, an attendent who ignored his/her training, or the protocols are lacking. We have no way of knowing which might be true. There may be procedures in place to refuse use of the ride to those whose size would prevent them riding safely. We just don't know.

Who are the witnesses? Family members or random riders? It's a very sad situation. I wouldn't have liked to watch someone fall to their death.

Sounds like it was witnessed by her two children, zib. Here's a link to the story: NBC News

Horrible- of course it is on the park for what happened.
Either an employee screwed up or it was a mechanical failure. On those two issues- I read that in TX there is legislation proposed every year to set safety standards for rides and they are not interested. As to a poorly trained employee or one that was incompetent- maybe you get what you pay for- after all how hard is it to latch a bar and press a button- what company is going to pay much more than minimum for that?
My bet is on an employee screw-up one way or another- either maintenance or operator. I see numerous safety meetings in their future.

Yep- I remember a few years back when some kid jumped a fence and had his head taken off by a coaster. Those rides are nothing to play around with- hell with some kid at the controls- give me a 5 point harness and let me latch myself in.
