Hey A**Hat from this weekend. I don't know who you are or what your issue is but there is absolutely no reason to fire a gun (min 8 bullets) into the back of our condo community. Especially since there are children that live here. And you actually managed to hit at least 1 unit. I feel grateful that you were firing into the backs of the units because the bedrooms are in the front. Extremely Snappish Snap.
Oh, wow! Did the police do anything about it?

Oh, wow! Did the police do anything about it? They came out and wrote a report but nothing else that I know of. The person's unit that got hit has a very prickly personality but they also have a little girl and I am just annoyed and mad about the whole thing. Knowing him personally I am not surprised but still. You just don't do that. If you are pissed at someone go buy some dishware from the thrift store or something and smash them. Don't use a damn gun.

I understand that we are no longer to expect our first class mail to arrive within 3 days. But 3 WEEKS? I am receiving bills after they are due and have only avoided penalties because I know when they are due! This is beyond ridiculous!

It is. The only bill I don't receive online does not have the option to be received online. It's the water bill from a city of 2000. That means there are fewer homes than 2000, so they don't think it's cost effective to put the bills online.
They finally started allowing people pay online but there is a hefty fee to do that. Since they went to billing every other month (because of cost of mailing monthly), I pay half when I get the bill and they autodraft the other half.

Dear Friend, I am trying to decide what to do with our friendship. You seem to have time for everyone and everything, but not to respond to a well-in-advance email letting you know I'd be in town for a race. You had nothing going on that day; you just plain missed the email (well, at least you were honest). You seem to have no issue (judging by your sort-of apology) getting together with others, making plans to be elsewhere, doing other things. It seemed odd to tell me you missed my email by a day, then proceed to go into detail about your other social events over the past two weeks. Ouch. Tells me where I stand, I guess.
This isn't the first time. And it's not feeling great at this point. I've been there for you, but one-way friendships don't work well. I'm happy that life is busy and happy for you; you've certainly suffered enough through no fault of your own. Your life was hell for a long time, and it is high time things were better. But after 40 years, maybe it's time to just let this go. I can't even respond to your email, because I don't even know what to say. "Oh, OK, no problem, see you whenever" makes the most sense, rather than the truthful question, "By telling me all about your recent and future social life happenings, you're letting me know I don't fit in, right?" I'll have to think about this for awhile.

I'm sorry Nancy.
I let a one way friendship go over a year ago. It felt like an albatross had been lifted because that is what it had become.

Sending hugs Nancy. I completely get your feelings.
I guess you could be snarky and just not respond to the e-mail and see how long it takes for them to realize you didn't.

Oh, I responded. Two lines, kept it neutral and civil. No plans to communicate beyond that, though.

Difficult situation. At issued is court playing times.
My tennis club is having continued issues with the pickleball club. TC moved back to play 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Sunday to accommodate the PB club inviting friends from outside our HOA. The TC moved back to 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. because PB had to have the 10:00 to noon time slot on Wednesday. Every time slot that TC had usually played is being pressed upon to be taken over by PB.
My H. had a meeting that was supposed to be about wind/sun screens. That took 5 minutes. The remainder of the meeting was taken up with PB encroaching on TC play times. Yet, PB was asked when they wanted to play. Nope. They want two full courts full time. We only have 4 courts. Our resort is out of land so new courts cannot be built.
The people coming at TC are very unreasonable. Stirring the pot. In years past, the e-mails sent from one woman running the PB club were down right abusive. To a man who was not on the TC board at that time. Those e-mails were privately taken to the HOA manager.
Their threats are PB has more players than TC and should have more say. The woman's husband is on the HOA board and she is on the Community Rules committee, which are conflicts of interest and excessive power/connections positions. Things went so far on court sign ups that if there is a dispute about court time, the local patrol will be called to settle things.
The court sign up sheets seem to disappear when TC tries to sign up for their regular times.
PB club does not keep minutes of their meetings. PB does not do an accounting of the dues that are paid in. With 100 players paying $20.00 a year is $2,000 unaccounted for. I'm unsure of exactly how many paid players there are.
TC has both meeting minutes and accounting reports as well as by-laws.
Most of the players just want to play and have fun.

Dear Board Member,
You say you are putting off the ribbon cutting opening ceremony because you want it to be just right. What you mean is you want to wait until it's convenient for you to come here (400 miles away) so you can be in the pictures. No one else matters. You think it isn't common knowledge that you are on the Board because your husband's family foundation writes big checks so you can pretend you are running a Fortune 500 company instead of a little non-profit; and that you are chair because none of the other rich donors wants the little bit of responsibility that goes along with the title.
Stop fooling yourself. Everyone who has talked to you for more than 10 minutes knows you are an idiot. Everyone who has been forced to work with you knows you are clueless on how to do anything besides giggle. Just write a check and get out of everyone's way.
Signed,
tired of your crap

Dear friend,
Stop writing post-dated checks and leaving them with businesses to be deposited "later", "when you receive your lawsuit money", "when you get your tax refund", and other fantasies. You have no money. Your social security check barely covers your mortgage. You can't seem to find a job, although almost everywhere one looks there are "help wanted" signs. Your lawsuit has been going on for years with no resolution.
One of your post-dated checks got cashed and now your account is overdrawn by $220.00. The bank shouldn't have cashed it, but you shouldn't have written it in the first place.
You only had $60.00 in the account the other day when you were promising that you would pay me your car insurance premium of $215.00 today. Where were you going to magically find the rest of the money?

64. Her financial idiocy was OK when she was working and making good money. She hasn't worked for over 5 years except for a few weeks here and there. She has drained any funds she had saved. She really has a black cloud following her around, but she does nothing to help herself. She managed to get a 3yo car with no money down and nothing due for two months, when she was supposed to get her lawsuit money, and kept stalling the dealership. She had the car for 10 months without paying a cent, and then got mad when it was repossessed. "I was talking to them!" Well, they got tired of empty promises. So am I.

Yeah, no way would I be helping someone like that. My sister is kind of the same, but she has my parents to take care of her since she lives with them. My dad tried to get me to take her, but that was a hard pass.

She wasn't and it never happened.

This reminds me of my former rep payee client who was waiting on her $1 million dollar inheritance because she was a K-Mart heiress. She wasn't and it never happened. There is a real lawsuit going on. She was injured on the job and sued her employer. Details get a little fuzzy after that. I thought she had been awarded Workers Comp benefits, but maybe her former employer appealed. She's definitely not receiving any WC benefits. She also complains that the lawyer did not sue the manufacturer of the bed that injured her (she was an RN moving a patient) until it was too late to do so. But, yes, there is a disconnect between her and reality. I have known her for 25 years, and back then she was suing a lawyer for malpractice, because she didn't inherit anything when her late fiancé died without a will. Never got anything out of it. The post-dated check that bounced was to her accountant. That's another thing I don't understand. If she has no money, why does she need an accountant?

At the last CPA office I worked for, I made the DAILY deposit. Yes, we deposited checks daily and yes, some checks were post dated and bounced. The owner told me if they write them, deposit them. Bank never argued with him.

I didn't even think post dated checks were a thing anymore. I mean, nobody really writes checks anyway. I've had the same box of checks for years. Now that the girls aren't in school anymore, I have no reason to use them.

Now that the girls aren't in school anymore, I have no reason to use them. She has always written post-dated checks. I have several of them; none of them were ever any good. She was unbanked for about a year, despite being on social security and getting those checks regularly. Her account had to be closed due to the bank's error . She had been going to a check cashing place one town over and paying $10.00 to cash her SS check, which isn't so bad, but then she would have to buy money orders to pay her mortgage and other bills. I found a bank that would pay $20. per month for a year and all they required was one direct deposit a month. I gave her $100. to open the account and $20. for gas money. She tried to open the account but didn't qualify for the $20. offer, so got a basic account. That's fine. I helped her set up online access. She doesn't have a computer or internet, but can go online at the library. I told her to set up direct deposit of her SS check, which she says she did, but the SS told her they are behind so it didn't happen this month. Fine; she got a paper check. She came to my office and asked me to sign in to her account so we could see if the deposit posted. It did, after a couple of days. But she deposited $1,320.00; paid $1,300.00 to her mortgage; and expected to be able to pay $100. towards her insurance! She was able to get the bank to bounce the post-dated check, so she currently has $2.38 in the account. I just thank god I am not her.

I admit that I still use checks. I pay the property taxes with them. I used to pay the rental garbage collection by check, but I figured out how to do it online without double paying ours. (Same vendor.)

We use a few checks per year. Mainly for things that don't have a nice online payment portal like doctors or dentists. I don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling writing my card information down on the slip and mailing it in.
I also wrote checks when I paid some bills for my grandma. She doesn't have online accounts and I didn't want to link my checking account to those bills.

I call in to pay doctor's and dentist's bills because I don't like mailing the card info.
I pay my house cleaner and the organizer with a check. Everything else I use online bill pay.
I get paying bills for your grandma with checks. It's not a good idea to link your accounts to hers.
Dad's were linked to both my sister and me because we were tenants in common. When he started losing the bank statements, I did set it up online. Either he or I wrote the checks. He preferred paying bills by check so I didn't change that.
That's another thing I can't get rid of. The blank checks or the debit card. Account is long closed but I can't get rid of them.

Dear teacher, I'm so frustrated that your lack of planning and forethought has my 13 yo crying every night about performing in the musical next week - something she's waited for the past two years and should be fun. Instead, it's beyond stressful because you are failing as a director, haven't asked for enough help, and had the nerve to tell the kids how stressed you yourself were. Opening night is Monday and my daughter had her last rehearsal yesterday. How does that make any sense?
Meanwhile you texted me last night asking when the props would be done. Um, I put together group of parents and kids that did the set - you know that we finished last weekend except for the ballroom curtain that we couldn't find. The one you have at your house for some reason. I happen to know that the props weren't started as of Monday night bc I checked in with that mom and she's overwhelmed but wouldn't pass off items to make and didn't want to hear about triage and prioritizing which things get done at this point. She was still talking about some elaborate photo op setup for the lobby FFS. You postponed the musical from Jan/Feb to Feb/Mar and again til now and scheduled it on top of confirmation and examination week. And alongside the younger kid musical which means sharing stage time for their rehearsals too. This is why the schedule has been Jan/Feb for the full decade that we've attended this school. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. My 9 yo has 3 rehearsals this week for her much smaller part in the younger musical. She even came home and quietly told me that big sis isn't wrong that they suck. She said big sis is the least sucky of them but keeps messing up the choreography bc the cheerleading coach keeps changing it. Lock that shit down. My gut said I should go to rehearsal yesterday bc DD13 said half the problem is that it's one teacher to 25 students and 10 or so are constantly goofing off. I can totally play mean cop, but DD talked me out it. Mistake as the hoity toity 7th grade mean girls were filming the rehearsal and distributing it via text as a blooper reel. Very counter-productive and mean girl thing to do. I would have shut that shit down. The school has a no tolerance policy for cell phones. The teacher attempted to call them out on it but they persisted. Btw, you still owe me a response for what the set budget when I asked in Jan. I'm out $150 and another mom is out at least $100 for materials that we purchased on our own to get things moving. Happy to do it for the kids. I figure we'll never see it but the fact that you had no idea if there even is a budget was a clue that we were heading off the rails. Holding out hope that enough kids put in their own work like my daughter that they can shine in spite of the odds. Irritated Mom

OMG...sounds like the proverbial Chinese fire drill meets all hell breaks loose. Those poor kids who worked the hardest reap the least benefit. Why is it that some adults seem destined to steal the spotlight at times like this? Like, get the heck off the stage and put down the microphone, you alleged grownups! It's not your turn!

Figured out where the musical budget went - 90 ridiculously great costumes. Like we're talking full out costumes for characters which weren't even speaking roles. 3 blind mice, Duloc guards, etc. Still chuckling about it this morning. I had to complain loudly that my kid's mic was crappy after no one could hear her during afternoon dress rehearsal. Lo and behold, someone fixed it somehow. Sucks that my kid had been complaining every rehearsal and no one would listen. Today's anonymous note goes to DH... DH, When I delegated the confirmation party to you including the evites, I didn't expect to proofread them and find enough things wrong (including our address) that I could have spent less time making them myself. Now, you're stuck on sending them out bc you don't have most of the email addresses. Hello, just borrow my phone and collect them. I have neither the time nor the energy to send them to you. Again, at that point, I might as well do it myself.
You've been copied on most of the same parent class emails all these years too. You could easily go back and find one and gather emails from there. You texting me asking for them a second day in a row while I'm at work isn't going to get you anywhere. My stubborn has kicked in. Signed, Overburdened Mom
