For the record - breastfeeding isn't subsidized, only buying the pump is subsidized. You can breastfeed with no pump, or buy a pump and not breastfeed. No one gives you a tax break if you are breastfeeding.

I suspect there is more than one young, not so bright, gal out there who decided against breastfeeding because WIC would give them free formula - and they felt if they didn't take it they would be missing out on getting something for free.

My mom's coworker, a single mother, was breastfeeding her DD for a yr and all that time was getting free formula that she was selling on Ebay. She is not the only one.
