Dancin The best Dawn deals have been on the Hand Renwel and I have discovered I do NOT like it. So did the Palmolive and may do a future regular Dawn. That's true. Most of my Dawn stockpile is from back in the day before P&G started restricting how many coupons you could use in a transaction/day (11 oz. bottles!!). I have, however, picked up a few as fillers since then so I do have a smorgasbord of sizes (11 oz., 10.3 oz, 9.5 oz, and 9 oz) and "flavors" including the hand renewal. I mix the HR half and half with the regular stuff. The color is UGLY, but I like the overall product better. If I was still CVSing, I supposed I would have tried to use the $.50/1 Palmolive and bought it as a filler in my scenarios to end up getting it for free, but I'm out of the game so no Palmolive for me. It's times like these when I get a little bummed that I'm not still playing the drug chain rewards game, but I've gotta say that I kind of enjoying "being retired". We've been using and sharing the non-perishable stockpiles with DS for about (9) months now; but by the looks of them, you'd never know it. DH says I'm an overachiever.

jdnstl: Thanks for the boxtops for education--got them yesterday. Combined with ones I've saved, I'll be bringing the school almost $10 worth. They will be very happy. Do you need more? I have some that expire in June and would be happy to get rid of them.

I ordered half a hog from a local farm. Got 60 pounds of meat for $5.40 average a pound, it will last quite awhile. None of the crappy supermarket meat, stuff gives me indigestion and I have GERD and reflux. I fixed some of the Italian sausage with lunch and no stomach issues at all and it was delicious, what do they put in that store bought crap anyway? Will try some more cuts and if its all this good they also sell farm raised beef and chicken will get it too. I will just buy the cuts I want instead of half as that would be way to much meat, even a quarter would. Will likely get something like 10 or 15 pounds of ground beef, some ribeyes, tbones, and roasts for the freezer. Now with all the food I have put up and my stockpile I can get by for $30 or so a week for groceries. Probably could do for less but also like fresh foods. Now back to baking my own bread again. How did you find out about this local farm? I live in a big city and have no idea where a local farm near me might be. Do you have a big freezer? I don't think I could fit all that meat in my standard freezer.

Freesalsa, If you are checking, this week the 99cents store has Earthbound Organic Spring mix and Organic baby spinach in the plastic boxes for 1$ each. Much better than Sprouts 3.49 BOGO last week. Ooooh, thanks! Yes, much better than last week. Especially since I can't get those danged EBF Java coupons to print! They've also had this Artisan something lettuce the last few times I was there. It has 4 mini-heads of 3-4 kinds of lettuce, though not organic. They're just the right size for one person and they last a long time in the fridge. It says they're field-packed which means maybe we're getting them sooner. Or maybe the packaging is good. Anyway, they are double the price when you buy them at Sprouts.

A quarter cow really isn't all that much...I am single and I get it usually one per year. Last time BFF, her parents and me got a half and split it 3 ways. I have not bought beef from a store in over 5 years. I can't even eat store bought beef anymore. Blech...

Patstab, we just got our quarter beef last month and it was under $3.00 lb. including the processing. I also can't eat the beef in stores anymore. We've ordered some free range chickens from a local farmer. There's nothing I hate worse than biting into a chicken and it has that awful hormone taste. When our church has a breakfast fundraiser, they usually get a couple of hogs donated and that is made into whole hog sausage, which is delicious. They will sell sausage by the pound for those who don't want to buy the breakfast. I usually get a few pounds of that to put in my freezer.
DH and I are buying our adult sons beef for their freezers for their Christmas gifts. They both agreed and thought that was a good idea.

I bought 125 lbs of organic beef last year at $2.99/lb. A friend of mine here in western New York raises angus. I still have about 10 lbs of ground beef and 10 lbs of stew beef left as it's just DH and I.
Thinking about buying some more but not 125 lbs...she's asking $3.49/lb this year for 1/4 cow.

Rite Aid seems to have some good deals this week. There were several Video Value Q's that matched up with MC's and Up deals this week. I will admit I hadn't even looked at VV since maybe May or June Colgate rinse was a MM this week with $2/1 MC. There are free or MM Revlon tools with the $2/1 in ad coupon, and I was surprised to find the cheap ones still in stock in two different stores today. There is a good Up deal on Tresemme, Dove, and Simple face wash (MC's and VV's for all) but my Up didn't print for some reason. Maybe cuz I bought the Tresemme in the morning and the rest in the afternoon. Who knows, but I will go back tomorrow or Fri and buy something, probably Halloween candy, again with MC and VV and giving Ups, and if it doesn't print, I'll have to call CS...I am considering doing the P&G deal since there was a good Tide MC ($2/1) but I only have 2 and I really don't "need" laundry detergent...

murphath: I hope you see this. This week the GO has 12 oz. packages of bacon wrapped filet or 14 oz. pkgs. of New Yorks (both in vacuum sealed packaging) for $4.99/pkg. We tried the New Yorks last night and they were pretty darn good. We're going to go back and pick up several more packages and give them to DS as a care package. We know he's not eating much in the way of a good steak these days.
Yesterday, I also found 12 oz. pkgs. of Canadian bacon for $.99/ea. and 5.3 oz. pkgs. of spreadable goat's cheese for $.33/ea. That's $1 for a lb. of spreadable goat's cheese!! Can't beat that!!
Now, my GO is doing something new. They set up some shelves in an area that hold non-refrigerated items that they want to clear out. In the past, they have just put it in grocery carts up front, but I guess they had too much to do that so they set up this new "clearance area". That will be the first place I head to every time I walk into the store. Yesterday I found Food Lion Italian soup (like Progresso) for $.33/can. They had (6) cans and I grabbed 'em all.
Anyway, I hope you have time to check out the steaks. I think they're an awesome deal and they are already vacuum sealed for a long shelf-life in the freezer.

My UPs didn't print on Sunday for the Dove, Simple deal. I showed the manager the ad and everything I bought so he gave me a $5.00 gift card. Only $10.00 was tracking so I think it was the body wash that didn't. I got a rain check for the Tide as they were completely out. This week I mainly cherry picked getting produce using Aldi prices. I got a head of cauliflower for $.99, a bag of apples for $1.49, red grapes $.75 lb. and a pineapple for $1.29. We are still getting tomatoes from our garden and I roasted a pan of them the other day. My shopping at Meijer has taken a deep dive since they quit double couponing. Their promise of better prices hasn't panned out.

Then that afternoon I bought 2 Dove shampoo/cond ($7) and 1 Simple face wash ($5) which should have been $15.50. My receipt said $12 after the second transaction. I was going to call but decided to wait and see if it would print the next time I made a purchase, thinking maybe the tracking just didn't "catch up" but I bought something yesterday and it still said $12. Bizarre. I just ended up spending another $3 to get it to print at that point but I still may call CS if I get time....I did ask about it in the store and showed them I already had $3.50 and then spent $12 and got the whole "it's because you used coupons" line...so, whatever...

OMG, they HAVE TO know by now that using coupons has nothing to do with it. It is just that kind of response that moved me away from shopping at the drug chains on a regular bases. Deals often not tracking properly, lack of stock and the hesitance to write and honor rain checks, and far too many deals that required YMMV got tiring. The straw that broke the camel's back is when I no longer received $/$$ from CVS. Rolling for free on a regular basis was dependent on them and with the stockpiles that I have, I was unwilling to pay much of anything for their rinse and repeat deals. For those who need the products, however, it's a totally different story. DH and I did go in and get the single rolls of Charmin Basic a while back at CVS because they were free without using or getting EBs. I am DS's TP supplier!!

I am a merchandiser's dream sometimes...lol...I've been getting a bunch of free gift cards/coupons for my "birthday month". I had a $15/15 at JCP, $15/15 at Loft and $10/10 at Kohls. Well, I stopped at Loft and spent over $80, after the coupon and JCP and spent about $50 I couldn't help myself. Lots of end of season clearance. Cheap, cheap, cheap stuff. I did buy a few birthday and Christmas gifts. Also hit Sears and all of their seasonal clothing clearance was 3.99! I hit it at 1.99 last year around this time. I found lots of stuff, some I can wear into fall, and some to put away for next spring/summer. The cashier said she didn't think it was going to 1.99 this year, and they JUST reduced it all to 3.99 and it was in the ad, so, she thought they'd be pretty cleaned out by the weekend. So glad I happened to stop today!

Dh got some sneakers ot Sears and got a $10/$50 coupon on the receipt. I may use it but I'd have to part with $40 and I am so tight nowadays not sure if it will get used. i hate to part with anything since all the prices went up I remind me of my Dad! He was raised after the war and things were not bought unless it was dire. I must loosen up I'm trying to collect box tops for education if anyone has any. I get them from office paper but it's slow going 1-2 a week. Dh has been losing weight after his hospital scare but seems to have problems with over buying food. Probably a reaction to being on a "diet". Its all mounting up in the fridge and the freezer is full. After that box of cookies from the outlet store for .67c pack, i am not buying anything else unless we get through some of it. his loss this week was 6 lb so i'm happy..

I dragged myself to the grocery store cuz I remembered I wanted more of the 1.88 butter before the sale ended tonight. Ugh...I didn't want to even leave the house today. I am so tired and run down. Been sick for over three weeks with some gastrointestinal thing. I only ever go to this store early in the morning cuz it's the only grocery in a 15 mile radius. I didn't get out til after 11 and it was a mad house. But, I went. Done...and I knew I had less than $10 to spend to get a $10 OYNO. This store does it for every $400 (before coupons ) you spend. So, I have 7-8 pounds of cheap butter and $10 to use next week, probably tomorrow.

Hi pastab. I'm trying to buy better quality meat, along with everything else. Thanks for the info. I'd love to find part of a cow for $3-3.49/lb.
Today from my balcony pot garden I picked a cucumber, a green pepper, some cherry tomatoes, parsley, celery leaves, and tons of basil. I made some yummy pesto. I dried the parsley and celery leaves. It's not a regular celery, it's just the leaves, but I just figured out that you can chop up the stalks and use them like regular celery for cooking.
I thought I had a good deal going. There were IPs on coupons dot com for Seeds of Change. They have prepared foods but they also sell organic seed packets. One day there was an offer on Swagbucks to print 5 coupons and get 5 SB, in addition to the 10 SB per coupon you use.
So it was going to be
$2 - $1.50 IP = 50c ===> 5 SB + 10 SB (x 2 - 6, depending on how many Qs I could print.)
Well, I was all set to use them and I went to Sprouts to buy them and they didn't sell seeds anymore! No one was really sure where they had gone or if they were gone permanently or if the were a seasonal item and some workers didn't know they ever had them.

There is a half-way decent deal on Mt. Olive pickles at Safeway thru Tuesday. They are $1.49 J4U coupon center price minus whichever hangtag coupon you might find in your store. I found $.75/1 so I got them for $.74/jar. I opened my last jar from the pantry last week so perfect timing for me!! So far I got (3) on our card and (3) on DS's card. I'm going to call my mom to see whether or not she's doing the deal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DS told me he's been living on mac & cheese and hot dogs, so I made him a huge pot of home made chili beans divided up into individual servings and a HUGE batch of tuna casserole with peas. I don't think he's been buying fruits and veggies so I got him some bags of frozen veggies and some dried fruit to take home too!!

Meijer has Suave shampoo and conditioners on sale this week for $1.50 which would make them free after using coupons from last week's insert.
I have Kohls cash I need to use this week and will spend it on birthday gifts for DS1.
Last month I made out a menu for 4 weeks of meals using things I had in the freezer and pantry. It wasn't set in stone but it made my shopping easier. Under each week I had a few items written down that I didn't have on hand, which saved me money. I'm down to the last week and don't need anything except onions, bananas, bacon and lettuce. I do have a few freebies to get at Kroger and will pick them up later this week.

Thanks for the heads up. This is a fantastic deal if you eat red meat, which is rare for us. Sometimes we both get a hankering for a good cheeseburger but that's about the extent for us these days. Can't really explain why--just no longer appealing to us. And, I admit, I have to watch the cholesterol. While my HDL is exrtemely high, my LDL is right on the borderline. DD2 (aka Doc) told me not to worry and went online to plug in my blood test numbers and I have like less than a 1% chance of cholesterol related heart/stroke problems. Still, I try to watch what I'm eating. I do love shopping at GO. You never know what you're going to find there. They had the Popsicle yogurt pops for .99 a box. These are almost $4 box at Safeway but I won't pay that just to try something. Now .99 on the other hand...they're actually pretty good. I'm pretty much addicted to yogurt and am happy when those shelves are stocked. Got 2 32 oz. Dannon non-fat plain for .97 each. I'm weird, I know, but I like to use plain yogurt on my raisin bran instead of milk. Gives it some substance! Guess since you're buying steaks your son doesn't work for the meat company anymore. Good while it lasted.

murphath: I hope you see this.
Yes, it was. OMG, that job was (2) temp jobs ago. That's how companies are hiring around here these days - all temp work. DH has been with his current company for over (3) months now and REALLY LOVES the job. He is hoping to get hired on permanently, but some of the other workers are still temps after being there for A YEAR!! The good news is that after only (3) weeks, they moved him to receiving which only has about (6) workers in the dept. and is a coveted department to work in, so he thought that was a good sign. We're really hoping that they put him on permanent status before the end of the year, but we'll see what happens.

ShopRite has Organix Shampoo and Conditioner on sale this week for $3.99. I was wondering if anyone had some Organix coupons that they didn't use they'd be willing to mail me? I think my one coupon was from a Smart Source insert around August 25th. The coupon was either $1 or $2 off. The expiration date I think is 10/12/13 or around that date. I don't have much in trade, but I noticed the recent free stuff they dropped off included $1 off coupon of Brookside candies, the chocolate covered Pomegranate seeds, etc. Their chocolate contains milk so I wont use it and I could probably get two or more in additional to mine from neighbors, etc. And one woot! I discovered if you don't use the $10 store coupon for Kohl's that sometimes they will send you another one. So since it expired on Saturday and I was going to the grocery store in that strip mall anyway so I decided to see what I could find with $2 OOP or less that I liked. I scored! $10 for 3 prs. of mens athletic socks so no OOP for me. Which is good since my cheap drugstore ones are starting to be unwearable.

The Organix Q was a $2/1 from the 8/11 SS and it expires 10/11/13. I only have (3) of them. Unfortunately they only came in the major metro paper and I don't get very many inserts from that newspaper. I'm on the west coast, so if you think they will get to you in time, PM me your addie and I'll get them in the mail to you today. Also, if there is any other coupons that you can think of that you could use, let me know; if I have any, I'll send some of those along too.
