I just hide the feeds from those who post too much about mundane things in daily life.
I do love the updates from extended family, especially those with pictures. I just found out yesterday on FB that my niece was engaged! And no we are not the type that want to hear everything via personal contact. Had it not been for FB we would have found out eventually from my MIL during her weekly phone chat with DH. My DH doesn't talk to his sister, although we really love our nieces. So we were able to directly congratulate her via FB.
I had a bad day on FB a couple weeks ago when my parents posted pics from their grand canyon trip, my aunt posted from her Caribbean trip and a friend was wondering what books she was taking to read on her long plane trip to Tahiti. All posts seen on the same day! And here I am just a boring working girl with a family.

Each week I have lunch with her and, after lunch, we go through her FB newsfeed. Before I head to her nursing home, I review her newfeed from my house. I hide all the photos which won't make sense to her (grandnephew's photo from a rock concert, niece's liked video of dogs, etc.). Tomorrow she will see photos of her granddaughter in a prom dress and her son's video of their Corgi bounding through the 13" of snow which fell in southern Minnesota last night. That's what FB is good for!

I have two friends who share their FB accounts with their husband - as in 'Dick & Jane Doe.' I think it's a little creepy. I'd be more likely to give up my debit card pin than my FB individuality.
I have two guy friends who constantly Like or Share pictures and videos of 'models.' One is single, so whatever, but the other is supposedly happily married, and that just seems wrong.

MN-Investor- That's what we do for my Grandma too. My dad's "friends" are essentially all of his nieces and nephews and siblings, and inlaws. So he'll pull out his iPad and show my Grandma pics from my cousin's prom, my son's birthday party, my mom and her sister on vacation, and so on. Grandma likes seeing the pictures but he skips anything that won't make sense too her.

I do love the updates from extended family, especially those with pictures. I agree. DS just got married and it was great to have FB. I posted a picture with DS and new DIL from my iPhone minutes after the wedding and last I looked there were over 30 comments- distant relatives, childhood friends of mine, DS' former babysitter, former colleagues of mine in India. I just tagged DDIL in a couple of pictures so that would go on her timeline and her parents and friends can enjoy them. I can definitely say that FB has helped keep relationships alive since we're all so mobile now.

She's bored. She's lonely. She wants to reach out and be connected. She has become addicted to the outlet. Thinking that if she lists off all the things she has done, it will make her feel like she accomplished something worthwhile. She may or may not know that she isn't as inspired by the daily workings of motherhood as she thought or hoped that she would be. I feel sorry for this lady. She is not fulfilled in her life.

I know exactly how you all feel. There's this guy named Jerry. When I was forced to read his Facebook page on Monday, it showed this brand new Cadillac he'd bought. On Tuesday, I was again forced to read his page, and what did I find but a picture of a second Cadillac. I just about wrote "How many Cadillacs do you need, turd face? Stop showing us all your stupid Cadillacs." But I didn't because that would have appeared bitter. Wednesday when I was forced to read his page, I saw he'd crashed one of his Cadillacs. He was updating every half hour with minutiae like "Getting assessment now." "Frame is damaged; doesn't look good." "Dave thinks he might be able to fix it." Not five minutes went by without something new showing up as I mashed the Refresh button. Honestly, who could stand reading that crap? Thursday was my limit. Precious Jerry got his precious insurance company to cover the cost of repairing his precious Cadillac. I hope he gets food poisoning and chokes on his own vomit. I am so sick and tired of having to read his Facebook page every day. Friday I put my fist through the wall. Jerry talking about "I'm so glad to be alive." and "I just gave my wife a big hug." The only thing worse than listening to endless, bitter whining about Cadillacs is having to listen to Jerry tell his blockheaded Stepford wife how much he wuvs her. I hate people who whine and complain so much! Saturday my Internet went down. My first Jerry-free day in a week. Huzzah! But I'll bet it says something stupid and I can't stop thinking about his fat, stupid face. If he uses his insurance money to buy himself and his ninny wife and his perfect, straight-A children another Cadillac, I swear... I just swear... Anyway, got to head out now. Need to see my doctor about my high blood pressure. Huggles, Virgil Ha ha. ![](http://images.proboards.com/v5/images/smiley/tongue.png) this is on my feed, BTW - I'm not going to her wall or anything.... And since I can't figure out how to hide feeds on a mobile device (and I'm too dang lazy to log onto the computer to do it), there it is. Be happy for her. She's busy. Her kids are doing well. Her house is unnaturally clean. Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you cry alone. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)

There are good uses of FB, I won't argue that. However, here's my "I hate FB" story: last night our new granddaugther born! In the delivery room with DSD was her fiance, her mom, and her fiance's mom. They took pictures immediately and posted them on FB. Twenty minutes later they came out of the room and shared the pictures with us. Couldn't they have waited until all of us other grandparents saw the pictures?! I'm sure that makes me sound petty, but I can't help it. We were all at the hospital for 14 hours. Would've liked to have the pictures before extended family, friends, and co-workers did. I know, there are bigger things in life to complain about.

A guy I was friendly with in high school currently posts horrid pictures of things that are designed to make us sickened by the dairy industry. He is full vegan and won't stop (his promise) until we all understand the horrors we are causing. Talk about a buzz kill!
I was considering hiding him, but now I'm thinking I will just unfriend him.

Did he just recently post a picture of a flaming branding iron right next to a cow's udder, so it looks like the udder is on fire?

I do too. She's a nice person, just bored and lonely. Agh DH's cousin is the same way! I had to hide her because the animal pictures were obscene, but she posts pics of her kids all the time and I miss a lot of them. If she was just an acquaintance I'd delete her without a second thought. Congrats on the granddaughter! I don't think it's petty to want to have seen the pictures first, but I'm sure they weren't being hurtful on purpose - they were probably just too excited to remember. My mom still hasn't forgiven me for changing my relationship status to 'engaged' without calling her first. She had to hear about it from my aunt! ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/shucks2.png)

I guess i don't really care what people post on FB. If they want to post every detail of theirs lives and day, more power too them. If they want to run to the computer to say they just put the meatloaf in the oven, fine. The only thing i don't like is a bunch of spam type stuff . The most annoying ones frankly are the ones who post inspirational crap nonstop. I usually have to block them. I would much rather here their personal day to day real life stuff because that is what i like FB for.
