Loony math, sort of like doxie math, but more wrong. BWHAHAHAHAHAHA...you got me there! So I can't even DREAM of $10/hour job! I need $20/hour job! Makes it even 'easier' right? Archie! Why didn't you tell me THAT?

Aww...you know I'm just PLAYIN'. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png) Besides, all small businesses make mountains of cash. I'd double check your balance sheets. I'm sure there's a few million that you overlooked somehow. ((Sends my business balance sheets to Bob to find me my missing millions)). Hmm...well there are a few suspicious large charges in your expeditures report. For example, who is "Crackhead Ron", and why is his accounts receivable address listed simply as "the alley behind the 7-11"? Oh, and you can send my consultancy fee to the same address. I owe him some money.

My husband is 57 y/old. Former plant manager. Business owner at present time. I am 46. Former IT pro. Presently a wife of the business owner. Wouldn't that be smarter to continue this business until it is all more well known and bringing more money? I think so, tloonya. The first being 57 years old is kind of little too late for look to find a new direction. Sorry! Second's your prior job as an IT pro. many has been outsourced that's the trend I hear from my Husband. And he has been IT for all of his working career. Keep your business and try harder for more profit and less hours. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)

I'll do the math for a moment. You working: $25/hr job Store help: $10/hr job Looney family comes out ahead ~$20-30k annually. Yeah, you're right. No point in doing that at all. Stubborness is a sign of stupidity! Why are you trying to prove something when you are obviously just...can't! Who said I am finding $25/hour job anytime soon? Keep your story straight... From the earlier thread I referenced, the "In Your Faces!" thread: Looney, Reply #39 in that thread: "I am not listening though. They had offered me $25/hour 1 year contract..."

IMHO, the outsourcing scare is mostly media fearmongering, unless we're referring to things like call centers, which is considered low level grunt work in the IT world. For anything more complex, there's been serious blowback for those employers who have made the attempt, in terms of actual cost, timeliness, and especially quality. It shouldn't be too hard to find a decent tech job in a city as large as Philly, provided one has an adequate skill set.

I just loooove snowbird! What an understanding! BTW snowbird, IT jobs are on the rise. Just FYI. Here in PA anyway. Since I placed my resume on Monster - I am getting swamped by offers. Most too far away but compare to 10 jobs available last year - it is 1000 now. So if I went - I would do something less pro, more IT helpdesk. I jut want to try. I am good at repairing computers as well. Will see.

That sounds like a good plan, but if you pay $10/hour, it will cost you more than $10 per hour (if you are hiring legally.)
The employers portion of FICA is 7.65%. And SUI in PA is probably 3%. So, it should cost you $10.80 per hour for a $10/hour employee. Can you pay them $9, and use the extra dollar to pay the taxes?

Either he has been lying to me, he should got fired long time ago being stupid. Not just that your skill must be up to date with current trend if you would like to get a job in IT industry.

Lasted about 2 month...

Not an issue, unless you overdo it. And if he's a manager, he's not supposed to have to worry about typing into an Excel spreadsheet; that's his underling's job.

What's your point? tloonya Just a storytelling... ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/shocked.gif) One trick is to tell 'em stories that don't go anywhere - like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

Dear lord, I know I don't believe in you and that makes this whole praying thing awkward, but if you existed, would you please for the love of you make sure I'm not as clueless a business owner as Loony. If you grant me this one thing, I'll never ask for anything else again... for like at least 5 years. Amen.

Uhh...if it takes $4k a month to cover all your household bills and you're not behind on anything because you're taking money from the business than your income already is at least $48k. So switching from $48k from your business to $48k from someone else's wouldn't change the amount of aid your daughter gets. Unless you didn't report that $4k/mth it takes to run your household as income last year. Am I the only one intrigued by this tidbit...?
