after it is revealed that he answered a personal ad on Craig's list by misrepresenting his age, occupation, and marital status, cute topless photo included.
Explain to me why this is the Liberal's fault in 100 words or less....................GO!
Disclaimer: I think idiots come in both conservative and liberal persuasions, and don't think the fact that he is a republican has anything to do with this. It has everything to do with the fact that he's an egotistical idiot.

Democrats are allowed to get action in the oval office, republicans are set on fire for even thinking a dirty thought?

forget party lines. it's a mind set of the "type" that are in both.
the "politico class" needs to be purged and re stocked with people with integrity and honor. we're into fourth and fifth generation scum bags now(especially in NY). who was his father or father in law?

Democrats are allowed to get action in the oval office, republicans are set on fire for even thinking a dirty thought? No, only for acting on said thoughts when they involve young congressional aides and men in airport bathrooms.

Keeping the politics out of it, what should happen to people who engage in that sort of conduct? While always keeping in mind there's always someone on the other side of the event.

If a married man is cheating on his wife - his wife and he need to deal with it. Her choice - divorce according to the laws of the land, or stay together and work it out.
If a man has some power in the workplace and has sexual contact with people who he has power over - consensual or not - he should be fired. That is why I found what Clinton did distasteful. Not because he cheated on his wife, but because this person was essentially his employee. If he were a CEO of a company, The NOW organization wouldn't have stood behind him. It is inappropriate and unprofessional.
If a man uses company funds to have sex with anyone (including using company money to buy his wife a trip) there should be repercussions from the company. Minimum of paying back the money, including some kind of fine and interest - maximum of dismissal - depending on how egregious the spending was. So, Eliot Spitzer using government money to fund his affair = bad. Eliot Spitzer using personal money - well, that is between he and his wife.

Not knowing all the facts, and I believe there may be some we don't know, Lee should have apologized to his family and constituents for such a dumb move. After that he should have kept a low profile for a while, held his seat in congress, and bought flowers and apologized daily to his wife for the rest of his life. It's a private, personal matter that needs no help from the peanut gallery. And that's it. The guy simply was not thinking.

Since it isn't illegal, there's no legitimate punitive recourse. I imagine he has hell to pay at home now, but that's not really our business, and it certainly isn't the business of any court if no law was broken. This guy has really bad judgement, and he's sleazy as well, but whether we like it or not, no law was broken here...so his resignation is completely voluntary and, IMO, expected. That's why I say if he wanted to keep his job, he should have switched parties, the Dems forgive this type of behavior all the time...

Well, since there are a few posters here who blame EVERYTHING on "the libs" I wanted to hear their reasoning. Joking aside, personally, I don't see the issue here. What someone does on their own time is their business. Moral values in this country are already in the toilet anyway and the guy didn't do anything illegal so who really cares? The less I know about someone's relationship woes the better. They guy does not deserve anyone's respect, IMHO, but beyond that, it's his wife's right to judge him, not mine....and since he resigned and gave up the proverbial "political reputation" to protect, I'm sure she will do more damage than my verbal flap on a message board. ETA: I guess I should have kept reading...I see Ed's thinking along the same lines...

Seriously, I don't see the issue either. I think the guy is a douchebag, but that doesn't mean he's not an effective representative.
However, I do get a chuckle when the "family values" dudes get caught doing something their family probably wouldn't approve of..........

The Dems don't run on "God", "guns" and "gays. It's the "Family Values" party that holds themselves up as the party of morality.

The Dems don't run on "God", "guns" and "gays. So dems deserve a "free pass" for a lack of moral guidance or something? Either way, God, Guns or Gays have absolutely nothing to do with family values, loyalty, commitment, and/or being a man or your word/vows. We are witnessing a historic political event in Egypt and we're all more galvanized over some congressman's craiglist ad? Seriously?

It's just a few lies about sex- which every single one of us without exception does. I don't see any connection to his professional life, or his qualifications as a representative. ***sarcasm***

So God has nothing to do with family values, commitment [in this case to your wife], and/or being a man or your word/vows? Would you swear to God that's not true?
Speak for yourself or adjust your internet mind reader.

If I find out someone I'm doing business with is unfaithful to their spouse, I will expeditiously end the business relationship. If they will get up in front of the altar and lie in front of their family and friends to their proposed marriage partner's face- they will lie to me. If they didn't intentionally lie, but are too weak to do the right thing in their private life, I don't think for a second that some convenient, unsavory, unethical business behavior will be easy for them to resist, either.
Yes, I'm a Christian. Yes, this behavior violates my moral code. However, the real problem for me is that it places my reputation, and business at risk to be involved with these kinds of people. Yes, people make mistakes; and I can forgive anyone for anything- I believe Jesus died for my sins, and God calls me to forgive others as He has forgiven me- but that doesn't mean I'm stupid. Forgiven- sure. In business together? Never.
