Based on Dark's example, and many of your subsequent bitchings about present job hatred, I say that we hereby designate this Friday, April 5, as Offical Walk Out of Your Job Day, where EVERYONE tells the proverbial MAN what to go do with himself, and then doesn't let the door thwack them in the ass on the way out!! Non billionaire-no-money-down-real-estate-investors of the world UNITE! C'mon. You know you want to. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/wink.png) Just remember the immortal rallying cry of Drunk Mel Gibson: "FREEEDOMMMMMM!" (BTW, I don't plan to walk out of my job...just point and laugh at the ones who do.) ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/cool.png)

Too normal Bob Ross, to quit on a Friday. I'd vote for another Monday that is also the 1st of the month if you really want to honor Dark. The next one is Monday July 1st and has the added bonus of avoiding icky holiday pay for those who would have qualified. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png)

I'm under contract. I have to give notice that lasts until May 31. Ironically, though, we got "Intentions" forms to fill out today so they can plan staffing for next year. I intend to stay six more years, but that wasn't one of the options. So I guess I will have to just say I intend to work here next year. Thankfully, I love my job! ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)

I think I will stick around for awhile.

Its better to quit on a Monday vice a Friday.
During a work week, when you come back to work after the weekend do you really remember anything that happened / you did on Friday? No. No one ever does. 48 freakin' hours have past.
This is why you quit unexpectedly on a Monday and make it loud and obnoxious, this way that is all the workers will talk about for the rest of the week and as a result you will hurt the company's productivity for the week. Win-win! You quit, are the talk of the office, and hit the company in the pocket book too!
Honestly I am disappointed Bob, I expected better of you.

Well, I don't work on Fridays so it wouldn't work for me. Plus, we're just waiting to see what happens with the union vote next week and if they vote to strike, I'll be off work Wednesday and Thursday (not sure what will happen if they don't settle by the 15th). Then I've already scheduled off the 15th and 16th to move...................... Heck, if things don't go well, I may be off work indefinately anyways so can I pick another day after things settle down?

A few months ago it would have been tempting - but I'm moving to a new job soon and I'm really looking forward to it. So, I'll have to pass.

I was the closest I've ever been to actually walking out on my job today. It was so bad I locked myself in the bathroom for 40 minutes (yes my boss knew I was there and chose not to bother me because she understood I was at my breaking point due to demands from her boss and the company lawyer). If her boss or the company lawyer had insisted I talk to them during that time frame, I don't think I would have a job right now. They would have received an ear-full and I don't think I could have remain rational. Especially since I realized while in the bathroom the whole shit-storm is probably the fault of the lawyer who instead pinned all of the blame on me and my boss. I have documentation to back up my theory as well. so...you might get one taker tomorrow if the shit flies like it did today. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/undecided.png)

I don't want to quit till at least November. I get the rest of my signing bonus in October, and if I quit before a year is up (Oct 22 2013), I have to give the first half back. Can we reschedule it to then? After I get that chunk of money, I'll be more willing. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)

I fully intend to hang around here till I retire, which will be in early 2018 if all goes well.

I'm taking most of a comp day today and haven't yet turned in my reimbursement form for business trip that starts tomorrow. It'd be expensive to quit. Maybe next Friday. Actually I want them to cover my maternity leave, so let's go with nittany's November suggestion. However, the coworker that's bugging me to come in and have a phone conference because he didn't get around to reviewing the material I requested a decision on on Tuesday (that he'd had for 2 weeks already)? The one who interrupted my day off yesterday with the necessity of damage control on yet another poorly thought out suggestion to several other people? He can totally quit. I'll even help him clean out his desk...next week. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/cool.png)

Well, I didn't walk off my job today. But I think the entire computer system did! I walked into work this morning,no computers, enterprise wide, even the help desk is down.

Anyone quit yet?
Oddly enough, my company is doing layoffs today. There will be more next week.

I was going to have a serious conversation with DH about me actually scaling back my hours, but he overslept, forgot his work badge and had to drive home and get it, and Verizon screwed up our new data plan so his phone doesn't have 3G or LTE reception now, so I think bringing it up tonight would be a bad idea.
Maybe I should just quit. Then tell everyone afterwards so they can be jealous instead of warning me.

Jerry: Well, don't worry. Don't worry. I'm not gonna to do what you all think I'm gonna to do, which is just FLIP OUT! But let me just, let me just say, as I ease out of the office I helped build -- I'm sorry, but it's a FACT! -- that there is such a thing as manners, a way of treating people.
[Noticing the fish tank nearby]
These fish have manners. These fish have manners. In fact, they're coming with me. I'm starting a new company, and the fish will come with me. You can call me sentimental. The fish -- they're coming with me.
[grabs a fire-tailed Peruvian beauty fish with a cup and dumps the fish inside a baggie]
Okay. If anybody else wants to come with me, this moment will be the moment of something real, and FUN, and inspiring in this god-forsaken business, and we will do it together. Who's comin' with me? Who's coming with me? Who's coming with me besides "Flipper," here?

I didn't go to work today. Instead, DW and I went to the horse track and I bet on every single race. And that was after we went to a distillery and drank bourbon.
I'm on vacation. Unfortunately, I'll be back in the office on Monday.

Of the 10 races, I picked five winners. First time DW and I have been to a horse track. I only picked horses to win and only bet $2 each time. I bet $20 today and won about $83 so I came out $63 ahead. I should have liquidated my daughter's 529 and bet it all today. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png)

Impressive! I've never won much at the track, apparently my strategy of "pick the horse with the name that sounds most like the title of a trashy romance novel" isn't a solid one. Watching is so much fun, though! And bourbon, of course.

well, I didn't quit, but the option is still on the table for Monday. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/wink.png) I did take it one moment at a time today, thankfully no lawyer or boss's boss to screw with me today. the alcohol last night didn't hurt either. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)
