For the most part we're ready. Got a few more gifts to wrap... one more is supposed to be in tomorrow (dh's biggie). Apparently it was "misrouted" today so <fingers crossed> it better friggin be here tomorrow! I need to clean some, but have no motivation! It's been a really rough couple of months and I'm trying to put on my happy face... especially since this is ds's first year to really be excited about Santa. And I can't even have a happy, booze buzz the next couple of days because I'm breastfeeding

I thought we had the holiday all set. The tree has been up for weeks and the house decorated. All the presents are wrapped and under the tree. Except for the ones that Santa will bring those his elves wrapped mostly and the rest the elves are doing tomorrow. Christmas dinner is a ham that is defrosting and all set to go and the rest is pretty simple. DH's dad just called. He wanted to let me know that he was going to come down tomorrow night and he has to leave on Christmas by 9 AM. I practically screeched on the phone when I repeated 9 AM. Why would he drive 5 hours one way to watch us eat breakfast?

I'm ready with the decorating, presents and grocery shopping. Not so ready for the crazy family but that is what the wine is for. I'm looking forward to Sunday too.

NOT! The batches of Xmas cookies that I baked early are already gone, dough for cutouts is still in the fridge waiting to be rolled and cut and baked (I keep hinting that the kids could do that for me while I'm working, but no such luck). The only weekend we had a day free (of concerts and performances and solos and meetings) was unbelievably rainy and mucky, so we put off getting the tree. When we tried again to get a tree, the place closed one hour early that day, 15 minutes before we got there! DH finally went out and got the tree w/o most of the kids - so much for traditions. A day later the tree tipped over while everyone was out... Since everyone is now home, we made an excursion to the 'burbs to find a mall for some last minute shopping. Big thank you to DH for keeping DS5 while I actually shopped. You can get so much more done w/o a 5yo in tow. Somehow we still need a present or 2 more, and of course to wrap everything before Mass tomorrow evening (the older kids are in the choral group). Just remembered - they'll all be expecting cinnamon rolls in the morning, so I have sweet roll dough to make tomorrow, too.

Turns out we weren't as ready as I thought. Loop is making cookies and jam with the kids right now. They made ornaments last night. She's still got some stuff to do before the family comes over for Christmas dinner. There might have been something else in there too. That whole Susy Homemaker house wife thing looks like a pain in the ass.
I'm glad I was born with dangling genitalia.

I'm as ready as I plan to be, I'm in a funk and kind of a sour mood. But DGD will be here for the morning opening, then on to dinner, the prime rib is ready to go in the oven, and Grandma is cooking, presents wrapped, tree done.
DH and I do not exchange gifts, it is just a waste like POM we're picky and usually just get what we want when we want.

Totally not ready. Nothing's wrapped and tomorrow I need to buy two bottles of wine and two gifts from the handmade chocolate place. I was going to make some sort of delicious dessert but I doubt that's happening. I made red velvet cheesecake for Thanksgiving that was to die for. I did confirm that the bag from old navy that I couldn't find is in my room at dad's.

"And drink heavily in anticipation of spending two days with family"
Yep, first stop tomorrow, liquor store. I'm 1/2 way into the really good bottle of vino that was meant for tomorrow night.

So I'm sitting there icing four dozen cookies with my daughters and it occurs to me; how in the sam hell does anything ever get done in sweat shops that use child labor? I mean seriously. I would have been better off with a couple trained pigeons.

I would have been better off with a couple trained pigeons. haha!! I learned last year to set up DS with his own icings and cookies, then I did all the rest. He has a tendency to sample the wares and double dip! Besides the fact that he's sick, I wanted to make sure all the infected materials were set aside for his consumption only! But the sweatshops must have some kind of incentives... don't think "time out" would work in that situation!

Besides, there are bennies - my boobs are HUGE and I'm already back down to a size 4! ;D But I can have a couple glasses at night after she goes to sleep, and I'm such a lightweight now that it works... I just can't keep a permabuzz!

I am not ready!!!! Ok..my tree is up, my gifts are wrapped...but I have NO FOOD OR BOOZE!!! The J made me drink all my booze the other day. So today on CHRISTMAS EVE I have to go to the grocery store, fight the crowd, and buy food and booze. Oh and I still need to clean my house. My darn kids and their friends keep making it a mess!

Sure, blame me.....it's always the guy's fault I have to make a couple of appetizers for tomorrow, but I don't want to go to the grocery store, so I'm going to scrounge the pantry and people'll have to deal with whatever I come up with. My bar, OTOH, is fully stocked and operational ;D

We take turns hosting each year with hosting house making the turkey/stuffing and then everyone else bringing 1 main dish for the meal or a dessert. It sure cuts down on the work each year and makes the day go smoother. Since it's at one of my brothers' this year, I don't have much to get ready as far as the meal goes. As for gifts, I have one or two left to wrap and I'm done so I can sip wine or cocktails this afternoon. Neener, Neener !!

Blue, you can give it to me & I'll burn it in the fireplace! I'm ready! But I didn't have much to do! No tree, no decor, no gifts to buy....just dinner for DH & I tomorrow & we do EASY on that....make your own submarine sandwiches & there are 3 kinds of chips. Lots of candy or banana nut bread for desert! DH & I don't exchange gifts cause we each buy what we want all year long. I REFUSE to ship any more gifts to Hawaii since it is soooo expensive and their check has already arrived! I didn't feel like dragging all that deco stuff & tree out just to have to turn around & put it all back. Maybe I will be more in the "spirit" next year! But I'll probably hit the day after Christmas sales just to see what is out there! It looked like our Walmart would have LOTS left when I was there yesterday!

We're not ready. We would be (aside from wrapping, but that always happens Christmas eve), but Dark still hasn't gotten me a Christmas present.
The bastard.

I just got a call that my dad's sick, so tonight may be off. Now I'm stuck in limbo as to whether or not I can crack open a bottle here......

Going to the local VFW for Christmas dinner, not much to prepare for. Unless picking up my mother in law on the way over is considered preparation.
