Astute posters will have noticed a "Mods Only" button next to the "Reply" button in the Reply and Quick Reply forms. Selecting this button will make a post mods-only.
A mods-only post is only viewable by you and the admin staff. You may use it as an alternative to PMs if you wish to point things out to moderators, contest moderator action, complain, etc. Any edits or replies to a mods-only post will be viewable by you, as well as replies to replies, etc., etc. Hence you will essentially be able to have a private conversation with the mods in a thread.
Because this feature is available, any mod-bashing that is not marked mods-only will be (logically) assumed to be an attempt to gain public attention. This kind of grandstanding will not be tolerated, and appropriate action will be taken.
Hopefully this will provide posters with an easier, more accessible way of expressing any grievances without turning them into a public spectacle.
If you experience any bugs, problems, or unusual behaviour related to the feature, please let me know here, or notify me by PM.
Note: We have verified that the bug where videos are currently not showing up is not related to this feature.

It is.
Most posters probably won't have much use for it, but it allows posters to converse in a 'public' way with the whole mod community inside a thread. It's easier than sending PMs, and it retains the context of the thread.
It also fails safe in the sense that mods-only posts remain invisible even if scripts fail to load, etc.

That's on Proboards' end. I've noticed they've fixed one of the major bugs relating to the control bar. Maybe they broke something in the process.

Virgil-will that mess with the reply # count? No, although if there are mods-only posts, you'll notice gaps in the reply numbers. For example, Reply #8 might follow Reply #6. The main problem would be that the 'most recent post' might not reflect the most recent visible post. You might visit a thread expecting to see a new post from XYZ, but you find nothing since XYZ is having a private conversation with the mods. The problem is a minor inconvenience, and I expect that 'mods-only' won't be used enough to make it an annoyance. |

We tested this "behind the scenes" earlier. You can see what you post in Mods Only mode, and staff can see it, but nobody else can.  |

I don't imagine it will be used often, GEL. It's just an additional communication tool. Great if someone has a question about posting something they're not sure of, or if someone has a problem with a moderator's action, or request. |

Nope, still can't see it. hahah. it worked on the test thread though. i could see the posts not marked mod only but only blank space for the ones that were. here, i don't see the post at all. it skips from #6 to #8.
