I found this dress for a party this weekend. Now what should I wear with it?

what type of party? I would probably go with big bracelet(s) and some mid-length earrings that added a little funkiness to it.

The party is a cocktail party/dinner for DH's work. I just ordered these bracelets to wear: www.etsy.com/listing/102351877/queasy-beads-motion-sickness-bracelets?ref=similar_items_sash since I am sure they will be much better than my grey sea bands I am sporting now But I can mix in some other bracelets with them. That will probably help make them even less noticeable. Thanks, MM Got to love clearance finds @ TJ Maxx! Dress was $7. What kind of shoes should I wear?

not many people can carry off that yellow- especially near their face! Super cute and a rocking deal! I'd agree with a chunky necklace and bracelet, or perhaps a cuff bracelet. I'd probably go with metallics- that's just my preference, i like sparkles! I have the perfect cobalt blue shoes for that dress... Cole Haan Chelsea pump in cobalt. spendy but you can borrow mine

You are so cute! And congrats on the invisible bump! ;-) (Hope you don't mind me saying that, I saw your update on the Midwest Racers' thread!)

Thanks, DH. The dress is hiding the bloat-bump

Thyme - I need black tights? I need something on my legs, that's for sure.

Sarcastic - I like the thought of the blue with this dress. Hmm...that's giving me some more ideas I am thinking I need to take an extra day off on Thursday just to go shopping for these accessories. It's not weird to take the dress with me, is it?
It's not at all weird to take the dress with you Sam!
Personally I wouldn't go for another bright color. Maybe the yellow heels, but I wouldn't add red or blue.
This is a business event, and to me it seems classier to me if you stay within the colors of the dress but add sparkly / metallic rather than introduce a new color.
But I freely admit I am not from the Fashionistas LOL.
ETA: Yes you need sheer black tights (or thigh-highs if you prefer those).

I would go with a chunky/sparkly necklace... by the way... the dress (and you) are adorable! I suck at anything fashion related, but completely agree with MM about you and the dress!

Thanks, Apple

OK, I have black tights/sheer hose. And I have some nude ones. But black would be better? In that case, should I go for black shoes too?
I don't know that I'd go for solid yellow heels, I'd probably lean toward yellow being an accent color in whatever strong heels you find. the dress itself is color-block, even with the pleats/ruching, that I think bold single color shoes are going to be over the top. I would personally look for a black-based pattern with a yellow accent. cute dress though.....gotta love the Marshalls/TJs finds!
Definitely black hose Sam. I would generally go for black shoes too, partly because the black shoes would be a "better investment", ie I know I would wear them again.

This said, given what you paid for the dress, if you could find nice yellow shoes (in the same yellow of course) and they were affordable, I'd go for those!

ETA: Just saw Chiver's post. It's all a question of balance. If you go for the yellow shoes, you tone down the jewelry. If you get black shoes, you can "do up" the jewelry.

Wow, $7.00 for that dress?! It's adorable (and I agree that you are too!).
My vote would be black heels with black sheer hose and something sparkly on your wrist like a thick silver bangle or a mix of different sizes together. No matter what you choose you rock that dress!
And congrats on your new little one!! (If I understood debt's post)
ETA: How did PBs know that I'm chilled. All those "br brs" are cracking me up!

ProBoards has yet another glitch and they know about it and they are working on it. I hope anyway.

I don't think you have to shy away from bright colors just because it is a business event. Blue and Yellow are complimentary colors and look great together. I see it all the time in my office. It doesn't mean anything other than you really know how to dress well and coordinate colors. Yellow shoes might look to matchy-matchy. but i guess it depends on your style. I guess it also might depend on where you are and if DH works with a bunch of head to toe neutral/ super conservative dressers. I live in Chicago... which may be a little more fashion than other more rural places. At any rate- if you like how you've styled it up and wear it with confidence, you'll rock it! you and your cute self!

I wouldn't do yellow shoes. Too matchy-matchy, 80's prom.

I wouldn't do yellow shoes. Too matchy-matchy, 80's prom. If I was playing up the accessories, I'd probably wear black shoes. If I was looking to accept the shoes, I'd probably do a metallic shoe with smaller, less blingie accessories.

AWESOME deal on the dress (and Congratulations too! ). I am with everyone who says black "leg coverings" and black shoes. Let your accessories wow 'em instead of the shoes.

These would be very "on-trend" - and you are young enough to pull it off

The dress already has an interesting top, so I'd skip a necklace, and go with a dangley (sp?) earring with a little sparkle--clear stones, and a chunky bracelet.

I already will be wearing the tight beaded bracelets if they get here in time. I can layer other bracelets on with those, right?
Thyme, I love those shoes!
What if I went with blue/gold or blue/silver earrings & bracelets? Or should I just stick with bold metallic pieces? This group is not really that conservative. There's one trophy wife that routinely brings 3-4 dresses and makes costume changes throughout the night (she's a bit of a nut). Although, she's one of the partners' wives so that group can get away with anything. DH is still the new guy in "Section 8" so I definitely have to be nice & friendly with everyone as I feel I am more of an accessory to DH for these events. Not sure if I am wording that right but I hope you all understand what I mean.
