Update: 11NSD/6CSD/4Spend
Today will likely be a spend. I'm dragging C up north for a presentation at Direct Buy. I have no intentions of joining their club, but they are going to give us $200 in restaurant gift cards and 2 free round trip tickets to anywhere in the US (including Puerto Rico). I don't know if we'll use both of them, but if nothing else, it will cover my flight should I choose to go to FinCon again this year. We also supposedly have a chance at winning a $25k home make over (or just the cash). I don't actually consider that a possibility, but it's there. Anyway, we'll almost certainly end up eating out before we go there, so spend it will be.

Update: 14 NS day and 8 CS Days
Not sure what today will bring. I think I will take myself out to lunch using one of the gift cards I have. iDon't know what else I may do while I am out. Tried to replace my gym shoes yesterday but the store didn't have my size in the ones I wanted so did not get anything. Definitely need to replace those when I find a suitable pair.
I think I am up on most of the sleep and chores. Decided to have a school-tech free weekend since I was up to date on all correcting of projects as of Friday. Will have several to do tomorrow and the rest of the week but not this weekend.
Will try to check in later this week as I doubt I will be on the comuter much this evening.

Update: 12NSD/7CSD/5Spend
Friday was not just a spend, like I predicted, but an EPIC spend, as we did join Direct Buy. And by epic I mean I might actually carry a balance on my credit card for a month. BUT if I think of it as a down payment on the windows, it makes me feel a little better. Saturday was a nothing but dog park day. Sunday I had my writing group, got gas, and ran to the grocery store.

Good morning! Like Shanendoah, Friday was an epic spend day. Not quite as epic as hers, but I bought a new laptop. So definitely a pretty big expenditure for me! Saturday was just work and helping some friends with their taxes. Sunday was kind of a weird day. I got a call in the AM from the lady who runs the tax-prep office I've been working with, saying that she was not opening the office today. I asked why? She said, "You haven't looked outside yet, have you?" LOL, I went to a window, and it was totally blizzarding outside!! I hadn't even noticed! LOLOL Anyway, I took my mom down the road for breakfast out instead of working, so it was a spend day, but I got the whole day off. It'll probably be my only day off until April 15, so I enjoyed it. Finally got Blue's W-2 (it had been sent to their central office in Boston) and got that info in. Looks like we're getting $2k back, which will go into the House Fund for either work on our kitchen and/or downpayment on the next house. I still have to input interest earned on his savings account but that will only change it a few dollars, I'd imagine.

It has been 30 years since my husband died and 15 years since my dad died. I spent the afternoon at GF's mountain home and had a good time. I think I drank too much coffee though. I am restless and can't seem to settle down. I need to get my journals out and start writing. That should calm me down a little. update: 21/28 NSD, 5 eating out days. I am happy with the results because I haven't spent any of the refund. Usually by now it is all gone, most on bills and the rest on me. I only have the regular bills to deal with. Thursday I will get the bills ready for the mail on the 1st.

So far, 20 NS, and 6 CS. One day, I bought some Christmas gifts on sale dirt cheap. I only need to make it through tomorrow, and Thursday.

Sadly, yesterday was a spend day. I stopped in to look at dresses for an event I have coming up. Found a cute one for $40 that will also be very wearable for other occasions, so pretty practical. I had planned for the expense, but didn't expect to find anything on my first try. ETA: Grits, congrats on the CSD/NSD's this month!

Update: 12NSD/9CSD/5Spend
Monday and Tuesday were both CSDs. Monday I had to swing by the grocery store for some fresh ingredients for dinner and yesterday I finally remember to go in and buy the study guide for the professional certification I want to get. That expense had been planned for February, and I just kept forgetting about it with everything else going on. This guide is $25. I could spend $900 on one of their courses. I am hoping not to do that. We'll have to see. Today will be another CSD. We are going out to dinner at a Brazilian steak house. We have a Living Social coupon that makes it so we only pay tax and tip. Looking forward to our planned night out.
That means that if I can make it through Thursday without unexpected spending, I will meet my goals for the month. Fingers crossed.

Rocky Mtn Saver: 6 NSD/9 CSD
I should have one more update for today, if I can avoid any more spending. My numbers for February weren't very good, but I had a lot going on with moving and such. Buckling down again for March. I think the major things are behind me for a while, so it should be pretty quiet on the spending front. I am working a side gig on the weekends doing taxes, which limits my time spent playing or spending. Yay for being too busy to spend!

Went to eat my sandwich from home and noticed very subtle green mold. Glad I noticed it! Pissed that now I have to figure out what to buy for lunch... I'd really wanted to just go for a walk and now I need to factor in time to buy and eat lunch. Grr.

update: 23/28 NSD, 5 eating out days. I have been getting some phone numbers that I don't recognize so I don't answer. They don't leave messages so I don't call them back. If I know the number, I'll answer. I hate wasting money on numbers that I don't know. I answer quicker to e-mail than phone. Just saying.

My goal was 20 NS 8 CS. I managed 21 NS, and 7 CS. Today was going to be a NS but I was so tired that I stopped and ate again before I finished work. I knew I'd be too tired to even eat when I got home. I was right.

I am starting the last phase of renovating my house. In about a month or so my contractor will start in the living room. He will remove some cheap paneling, repair the walls and repaint. Then remove the carpet and sand and finish the hardwood floors. In the meantime I am busy emptying two floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and two carpeted storage closets and a china hutch. So much stuff!
At least it kept me from spending too much. I hit the grocery twice and had my taxes done. I have not sent them in yet, though. I have difficulties writing checks that big. I converted a Traditional IRA to a Roth and decided to pay the taxes from savings and I just want to delay hitting the savings account for a few days.
I hosted a Scrabble marathon last weekend and provided all the goodies from the pantry and freezer. Luckily we all are tea drinkers. I am so thrilled that I hosted a weekend house party and didn't have to spend a dime. (And also cleaned stuff out of the pantry and freezer.)
I have to stop for now. Onyx is demanding total attention and lap time and making it impossible to type.

I am trying to figure out how many NDS I'll have for March, and still be able to go see something in Houston that I want to see at a museum. The gems of the Medici family will be on exhibit through March 31st. I want to combine that visit with 5 other exhibits. So, I need to get busy planning. I think I can make a day trip, and not tell peeps I am in town. Then, I can go back in April for some bseball, Go Rice!

Well, I managed to hit my goals exactly. I'm actually pretty proud of that.
ses - We've had our taxes done for quite a while, but they haven't been sent in yet, despite the fact that we're getting a much bigger refund than I think we ever have. Because we now have the rental property, we had to fill out the depreciation form which the IRS is not ready to accept. Everything I read said "March" but not a date in March, so I don't know if Turbo Tax will send in our taxes today or if it will be later this month.

DS had to go to the ER yesterday for his fever. Antiobiotics and sent him home, no real diagnosis. He's doing much better today, but I'm home from work with him (and loving it). I think it's all covered because it's still on 2012 insurance and we met our deductible long ago. My new insurance/deductible actually starts today! So good timing, little dude!
