I'm done for the season. Mostly. I ran the Chicago marathon a few weeks ago. 4:33:55 12 minutes faster than last year. It was so much fun!! I have a 15k race next week but otherwise I'm done running until April. I just need a break. I'm super tired and my knee is twitchy and I think it's time I get reacquainted with the elliptically 😉 Plus DH and I are moving sometime before January and until we get settled I'm going to be slowing down the running. I just don't have time.
I'm really glad I ran Chicago when I had the chance. It was seriously so enjoyable. Worth every sucky minute of training 😉

Nothing happening on my end, which is a total bummer. I miss running and October - December are great running months. I have a couple more weeks of PT then I will go back to the surgeon to discuss the surgery. flamingo congrats on Chicago!

flamingo - congrats on Chicago! Great time!
Nothing is going on here. I was back up to 3 miles after giving birth and getting back to it, but I somehow killed my knee, then I got a new job, and well, excuses excuses.
I haven't run in about 2 months.
I wanted to run Pittsburgh in May, but I highly doubt I can be marathon-ready by then. My goal is to be in 10-mile/half-marathon shape year-round, but with two kids under 2 and a new job that has me in the office five days/week (and 1.5+ hours of driving time every day), I'm just wiped.

I think one race in Florida made the list - it's in Jacksonville - the Gate Run (15K or 5K run). I am pretty much set through mid-December; I will be out with surgery beginning December 19-Jan 2 or so.

Wow, we have all really fallen off the wagon!
I just signed myself up for the 2018 25th Anniversary Walt Disney World Marathon. The 20th anniversary in 2013 is what started my running and was a big contributor to this thread.
I've been running again since the first of the year since my legs have been better. I'm up to an easy 3 miles on the treadmill and hope to keep increasing and eventually get outside if PA weather would cooperate.
I have a new job now, so I need a new running route at lunchtime.

Awesome work, steph08! Hopefully your end of the state is experiencing this awesome weather we're getting this week! I had my hip surgery February 8th. Labrum was too damaged to repair so had a debridement, femoroplasty to shave down the bone spurs (that were responsible for shredding everything), and surgeon ended up doing microfracture because there was bone exposed where cartilage had worn away. So glad I decided to get the surgery sooner rather than later! My low back pain has pretty much disappeared already. I have my follow-up tomorrow and get stitches out. I should be starting PT soon and hubs is going to put my bike on his trainer so I can get in some low-impact motion exercises. I'm on crutches for a bit more, so I am working from home until mid-March. I'm only going slightly insane. But my goal is back to normal activity in three months! I am thinking of hiring a running coach to help me get back slowly and safely.

Meghan - my side is sunny and in the 50s, too! I haven't had the time to get outside yet, but I'm going out tomorrow finally!
That sounds like a tough surgery, but I'm glad you're feeling better already. A running coach sounds like a great idea - a way to slowly ease back into it without doing any more damage.

On the contrary...I am still running behind that wagon. I have the Treasure Coast Half Marathon next week. One more long run tomorrow, then taper down for the week. A tough event, with two long drawbridges.

Ran a 10k on Saturday - cold and raining slightly. First 3.1 miles in downhill and then turnaround for last 3.1 miles uphill. Bah!
I ran it in 57:35 though, which I was happy with. My 10k PR (and I've only run this course for a 10k) is 56:31, and I'm not as well-trained, so I was happy with it.
I bet I could almost break 55 minutes on a flat 10k course right now. It's not a very popular distance around here though.
Continuing on for half marathon training.

So I've decided I want to do the Rock N Roll Las Vegas Marathon in November. I haven't actually signed up for it yet. I'm not sure what my hesitation is, but I know I need something to keep me going this summer, and signing up for a race is usually the motivation I need.Maybe I'll convince my husband to start planning the trip with me when I get home tonight and that will convince me it's a good idea

That sounds like a fun race!
I am aiming for a November marathon (just a local rails to trails thing) to actually go for a good time, and then the Disney marathon in January.

Well, I did it. I signed up for RNR Vegas. Now to find a July/August/September half marathon to keep me motivated and on track for this. EEK!

I have two 5Ks this month - a local one on the 23rd and then one on the 30th in the South Boston area on my trip. Begins and ends near the JFK library, for those of you familiar with the Boston area. It is a charity race.

Half Marathon on Saturday - 2:11:26 Well, when I say half marathon, I mean they measured it wrong and it was actually 13.5 miles. So I was really closer to 2:07 for the actual half marathon distance. I wouldn't care so much, except I was planning on using this time as my proof of time for the Disney marathon to get a good starting corral. I think a 2:11 will put me in the same corral a 2:07 would have, but I might try to find a ten-miler or another half in the fall in hopes of improving my time.

What a bummer, steph08. I mean, that's a great time regardless, but it sucks that they measured wrong! I'm thinking of dropping my Vegas marathon down to the half marathon. Haven't decided yet, but I'm just not feeling the motivation to train for the full this summer. I have a LONG time to decide, and who knows, maybe I'll surprise myself this summer and get the training in.

I was going to do a September full, and it's just too damn hot to train for a marathon over the summer! My plan right now is to do a November full for time and then my Disney full for fun. We'll see how that goes! My next race will be a trail 15k at the end of July. That's just for fun, too.

That sucks, steph08! I hate when long races are longer. Or short races are shorter. That happened last year at a 5k my run club was recently put in charge of. One of the police officers setting put barricades down a block short and that messed up the distance. Grr. Good luck, whatever you decide flamingo! I lose all motivation in the summer months. When is the Vegas marathon? I am allowed to start treadmill running at the end of July, which is week 24 following surgery. I have it marked in my calendar! I want to do my favorite 10k in November as my return race.

Cookies Galore, the Vegas marathon/half is November 12. So I have plenty of time to train for either distance. Good luck with your return to running. I can only imagine how excited you must be!

Keeping this thread alive, one race at a time.
Totally surprised myself by running a 35:11 7k this week (8:04/mile).
Now starts training for a November marathon, followed once again by Disney in January.
Unfortunately, that speedy pace caused my coach to up my paces for all my other runs and predict that I can run 9:06s for the marathon. Yikes! We'll see!

Yay, the marathon thread is ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a swim meet next week, followed by my first triathlon of the season. Then two 5K events, another swim meet, and then a 5K while I am visiting New Orleans. I am continuing the tradition of running a race in every new city I visit.

Wow, steph, that's an amazing time and an awesome goal. I can only dream about being that fast for a marathon!
My training is going ok for my November race. It's hard to run in the summer heat/humidity (I feel like I'm back in Florida!) and I've had a bunch of family things going on, so my weekends have been shot this month. Plus I have a week long vacation at the end of the month, and I know I won't run on vacation.

I have stopped running period. I would like to get back into it but I will have to build myself back up. I want to do another Disney race next year. I wanted to work my way up to a half marathon but I don't know if I have the time to dedicate to it but I thought I would at least try and see how much I can do. If I don't get that far at least I will be getting some exercise trying.

Triathlon done, and I finished first in class! My 10K swim was cancelled due to weather, and I really do not have the time to make it up before the Sept. 15 deadline. I do have a 5K next Sunday, but that depends on Hurricane Irma. Short of a tropical storm warning, the race should go on as planned. Anything at tropical storm warning or higher and it will likely be cancelled.

My marathon was today.
I did awesome the first half and bombed the second half (it did include 9 miles of pouring rain, so I blame that).
4:36 was my finishing time

My niece did the NYC marathon today. Also did it 10 years ago. She say's my running years ago inspired her. But I never ran more then 8 miles. I'm proud of her.

I have greeted friends at the finish line of the NYC marathon several times. All the runners are exhausted. One thing I remember about some of the male runners who did not put band aids over their nipples is the front of their athletic shirts were bloody in the nipples area. Their shirts rubbed them raw.

A lot of people probably wondered about security for the race. Never let the terrorists dictate what you do. By all means, exercise caution, of course. But no one should decline such an opportunity because of the bad people out there. I was in New Orleans last week, and did a 5K there. I have a new bucket list: 50 races in 50 states. The race can be a 5K, 10K, triathlon, swim meet or open water event. But I want to compete at least one time in every state. It's going to take awhile - I only have four states done.
