Great job, Nancy! I guess an update on me - I am back on the running wagon. Just the treadmill, because, well, it was -18 when I dropped the baby off at daycare this morning. I'm doing 3-4 miles with no problems. I'm eyeing a September marathon, but I just don't know if I have the time to devote to a long run every weekend. I might just stick to a half - if necessary, I can do those long runs on the treadmill after the kiddo goes to bed.

I can't wait to get back to running. I just have no motivation now.

A bit sore from Sunday, but mostly OK today. I'm looking for a race for mid-March. Might just do a 5K for a local synagogue fundraiser. It's kinda cute the way they are doing it. There are three categories to enter: adult, youth and the bubbie/zeide (grandma/grandpa). The catch for the grandmas and grandpas: they can walk or run, but they must prove their "gran-hood" by having a kid in a stroller.

I did not get picked in the Broad Street lottery (86% acceptance rate! WTF?!) and I was bummed since that means searching for a bib and having no idea if I'd even get one. A mere five days later, an acquaintance sends me a message on Facebook asking if I still need a bib (I posted something on my Facebook) because his daughter has a conflict and can't run now. So I am officially registered for the Broad Street Run in May! My previous longest run was 8.4 miles. I'm excited!

Ugh. My left thigh/back of knee has been bothering me since mid-February. I finally went to the doctor yesterday and he believes it's sciatica. Ugh. I did hurt my tailbone last summer and didn't take a break from running or really do anything for it. So that could be the link. Hubs also had a podiatrist appointment yesterday morning. He was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis (or fascists, as his phone autocorrected). We're quite the duo. For the record I have still never hurt myself running! I do a good enough job in my daily life.

Join the club...another sciatic here. I've had a flare-up from my most recent 10K. Tightness around the back of the left leg and knee. Not pain, really, just sore.

Yikes! Hope you gals feel better soon! (And your DH too, cookies!)
I got out today for my first outdoor run since...November 4 (according to my Garmin)!
3 miles and it rained on me the whole time, but it was 40 degrees and I only had to go through snow once. Hurry up, spring!
Time was pretty decent. I'm hoping to do a 10k at the beginning of April, but I need to do a few 5/6 mile runs before I sign up.

I have a vein treatment tomorrow, so no running for a few days anyway. I find swimming seems to help stretch out the muscles, though.
I'm not signed up for any races this month, though I do have a swim meet later in the month. Looks like a race in April will be my next big run. Not sure about distance.

I have a five miler at the end of this month, one in April and a 5k later the same week, my 10-miler in early May, and a half in mid-June. So happy I signed up for all of those! Lol

You are a mileage maniac right now! Not only pretty big race-wise, but practice-wise, to get ready and stay in form for all of them, it sure is. You ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have signed up for a bucket list event. I promised myself I would do this, once my eye surgery was complete... I am doing an open water swim. Just a mile, and it's in a protected bay (not the ocean). I'm a little freaked about this. It's in April.

Just got in a 5-mile run outside over lunch. It was a little chilly (about 35 degrees) but there was no wind, so that was nice.
I'm hoping to run the 10k in a decent time (it's on 4/4). I'd like to get under an hour, I'd really like a new PR (56:31), but I am just not at that level yet.

Ran my five miler this morning in 49:04. I'm extremely happy with that. There was a really tough hill and I walked for a few seconds when I hit the water station, so it's cool to think I was seconds away from sub-49:00! Still a PR for me!

And even better is that you have a goal for next time. I'm at a swim meet this weekend...five events today, four tomorrow. I did the 1650 first thing this morning (that's a mile) and took four minutes off my time from last year. Next event is a 5K on 4-12 and my first open water swim 4-19. I have a 5K on Memorial Day, and not sure what else I want to do.

Awesome job, Meghan! Have fun at your swim meet, Nancy! My 10k is on Saturday! Yikes! Weather is looking a little dicey (mid-40s with rain - I could do without the rain). I've been doing 5 milers outside and running a good pace, so while I don't think I'll get a PR, I'm hoping to come in under an hour. It's a tough course though - the first 3 miles are great (downhill) but then you turn around and come right back up the hills, including a gigantic one that is a killer. Ugh!

Go Steph, go! I love 40 degrees for runs, not so much the rain. Good luck!

Swim meet went well...took four minutes off my mile time, but it made the rest of the weekend tiring.
OK, I finally did it. I signed up for my first triathlon. It's a "baby" triathlon (300 yard swim, 5 mile bike, 1.2 mile run).
I'm an idiot. Someone talk me out of this.
Please?

You go, Nancy!
I have always wanted to do a triathlon, but I haven't done enough research into it - swimwear, new bike, etc. to ever sign up for one. You can do it!

I've got a relatively new bike with clips (not even two years old), so I'm good there. No tri suit, so I need that. Running gear I always have, including new shoes (bought last month).
I have cap and goggles, so I think I'm good on almost all the gear.
I have someone to explain the transitions to me while I train; an old triathlon pro who will also be there as an official.

10k in the books. It was about 40 with 15 mph winds. They weren't bad until running up the huge hill, then they were right in my face!
I did pretty well - 57:22. I was on track for right around my PR (56:31) until the hill. But I haven't raced in a year and a half almost, plus I have only been doing three days/week, around 12-15 miles, so I really can't complain!
Now to decide whether to train for a marathon or not! There is a local half at the end of May that I am considering. Definitely not going for a PR, just for motivation.

5k done, and very hot out. Took about a minute off my PR time, took third place in the age category (instead of the usual 5-year increments, the awards were done by 10-year increments. So that was even more impressive, right?)

Awesome job, Nancy!
I have barely done any running since my 10k. Went on vacation at the end of last week - got the flu.
Now I have a head cold.
Hoping I can get back on track tomorrow and run that half marathon at the end of May (haven't signed up yet).

OK, my open water swim is Sunday. The nerves are starting to kick in a bit. All our times have been moved back quite a bit, due to another even in the area. I am now swimming 90 minutes earlier than first scheduled. Not a bad thing, really. Just have to be there three hours' ahead of time to clear the roadway for the other event. My game plan is to put all my stuff together Friday night while I do laundry. Everything from snacks and water to maps, cash for parking, extra clothes, toiletries, caps and goggles, the chosen swimsuit... Yikes. I'm really doing this.

My friend is training for a long distance relay race. I promised him I would run his 9 mile training run with him tomorrow. What was I thinking?
