I admit that I had never researched CareCredit, but some comments on this thread made me wonder what it was really about. I found this on their site www.carecredit.com/faqs.html under FAQs: If I were not paying from my HSA, I would definitely consider this. It also covers pets, so it could be handy to have on hand for emergencies.

I would definitely find another dentist. Also, you have three kids. If you don't trust him, you're not going to want to bring your kids to him either.
I wouldn't bother announcing why you switched though. My guess is that they will recontact you (and probably sooner rather than later) and you can tell them then, once you've found somebody else you are happy with.
You live in a major metropolitan area, you should be able to find somebody else you're happy with. I'd ask friends / moms for suggestions and go from there.

Posts like this always make me appreciate my dentist, who has never pushed credit. He does insist that I need 4 cleanings a year (only 2 covered by insurance) because of my implants, bridges, etc. I happily comply since I've had far fewer expensive problems than I have ever had in my life. If offered credit I'd just tell them we like our airline miles and points, thank you. They may like Care Credit because it rakes off a smaller % than Visa, etc.
We've gotten a few postcards from other dental practices recently suggesting that we might want to use up Flexible Spending Account money (the use-it-or-lose-it type account) on dental enhancements. I'm surprised- I didn't think anything cosmetic such as whitening was FSA-eligible.

I moved here a little over 3 years ago. The first dentist I found who took the insurance I have for dentists, billed me for the disallowed amount from the insurance company. When I called to tell her that the patient doesn't pay that and that you have a contract with the insurance company that tells you so, she got very rude and said the practice was owed the money. I called the insurance company who called her and called me back. I did not receive any more bills, but did change dentists to one that understands that.
They do have Care Credit brochures as does my vet. So far I haven't needed them. The woman who fit my glasses tried to tell me I should use it for lasik surgery, but I don't want lasik surgery.
