DH went with me to CVS this morning and did "a caper" for me on my second card. We were at my sister's CVS and I didn't know how they'd feel about me using two cards back to back. We both got:
$20.00 (8) Holiday M&Ms $7.50 (3) 12-pks. Dr. Pepper $3.60 CA CRV fee (recycling) $6.99 (1) Phillips Ear Bud $5.00 (2) G.U.M. Toothbrush Double Pack $3,65 (1) CVS Batteries AA or AAA $2.87 (1) Cheerios $1.50 (2) M&M Mars Single Candy Bars $49.31 -10.00 $10/$50 -4.00 (4) $1/2 Holiday M&Ms -3.00 (3) $1/1 Dr. Pepper -.60 (1) $.60/1 Cheerios IP -.50 (1) $.50/1 Tearpad -31.00EBs
DH paid $1.66 OOP and I paid $.70 OOP (different EBs used) and we both got:
$8.00EB M&Ms $6.99EB Phillips Ear Bud $5.00EB G.U.M. $3.65EB CVS Batteries $2.00EB Cheerios $1.50EB M&M Mars Candy Bars $27.14
So a loss of $3+ in EBs. DH has never been with me when I've used a $10/$50 and he was EXTREMELY impressed with how it all worked and how easy it was and how friendly the cashier was.
I am so thankful that CA got the Black Friday ad after all. I needed or wanted every item on the list except the toothbrushes.

Someone posted on WUC, that slick deals is reporting the HI gift card is NOT working on smaller amounts at Rite Aid. Looks like a no go this year...don't think I'm going to even try it. I did try it and it does NOT work on the $20.00 cards. Thanks rubyslippers for being the pathfinder for the Grocery Challenge. I sure hope that you're not too bummed about having tried it. I have to decide whether I'm going to do the deal or not. Hmmmmm.......I think I might go ahead and do it on my card only cuz either we'll use them or we'll give them for Xmas gifts depending on whose names we draw.

The Black Friday ads this year are very telling to me. Remember the days when there were many, many, many MMs to be had at ALL THREE drug chains? This year there are very few and the CVSes in my area didn't get the Command Hooks, the Cepacol, or the Children's Advil which were most of the MMs to be had.
Anyway, it is what it is and we still were able to get some decent freebies.
I got back from CVS this morning in time to help sis get the bird in the over and we've already cut up the veggies for the veggie platter and made the salad. I already made/brought the sweet potatoes, mom is bringing the green bean casserole, sister in law is bringing appetizers, mother in law is bring pies, etc. So here it is a little after 9:30 and we're practically done until the turkey comes out of the over.
I guess it's time to have a bloody Mary! ;D
HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!

I'm hoping CVS doesn't close too early. I get off at 1pm and could try to stop there on the way to the IL's house this afternoon. Otherwise, I'm going to have to make my list and send SO tomorrow. I really want the earbuds too. My kids go through a couple pair a year.

I have to decide whether I'm going to do the deal or not. Hmmmmm.......I think I might go ahead and do it on my card only cuz either we'll use them or we'll give them for Xmas gifts depending on whose names we draw. Not at all bummed. I will be placing a big order at Lowes this week so the extra $20.00 will help me wrap things up. CVS: Our CVS has a new manager and she will not let anyone use another card, like your DH's card. One of the workers said she sits back and watches them from her office camera so they cannot let even their favorite customers slide another deal thru if it's on someone else's card. I tried to buy a Command Hook on my card since they finally found it and put it up, two days after I used my card. I wasn't allowed to and I didn't want to push it and make things miserable for the cashiers. There's no way I'm going to get my DH in the store to do any deals on his card at the same time I'm doing a deal on mine. Pubbler: Are you getting the VISA $100.00 cards at Meijers this weekend? You get a $20.00 catalina for each one you buy. It's $5.95 to activate but I'm going to try rolling one of mine a few more times. Then I'm going to use my VISA card to buy giftcards at Kroger for the 4x fuel points. Rite Aid: Their BF sale was pathetic compared to CVS. At least I needed the HI giftcards.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! DH and I had our first Thanksgiving here and my brother and his friend (soon to be girlfriend?) came over. So I've been up since 6:30 cleaning, cooking, prepping, drinking (did I say that?) and eating a lot of pie. I had plenty of help, we all made something so it wasn't just me, but it was an early day. They just left around 10:00 p.m.
So I didn't go to any of the stores today. Last year I did ok going on Friday instead of Thursday. They still had a lot of stock.
My brother noticed a few of the free items in the cabinets etc. that I've gotten recently and he misses the days of all the freebies. He's paying regular prices for things now since I don't have many extras to give to him anymore.
Thanks for letting us know about the RA HI gift cards. That's one stop I don't have to make now.

My sister had 16 people for dinner. After everyone left, we didn't get everything cleaned up until 7:30 and DH and I decided to stay another night. We'll be headed home before noon today.....I think. This week, I've been able to stockpile 14 cases of water, a case and a half of Dr. Pepper, 16 bags of M&Ms (a few bags will be added to Xmas gifts and a few bags will go in the freezer), and two sets of ear buds. I got a lot of other stuff, but nothing else was really that important to me. I'm contemplating picking up another (2) cases of water each on our way home using our $6.99 ear bud EBs. As long as it is stored properly, I don't see how you can have too much bottled water and I was completely out before the sale this week. We needed some for emergencies and some for all those fishing trips DH is planning after he retires. I'm not seeing anything wonderful in the next two weeks' ads. Unless something wonderful pops out of the red machine, I may be sitting them out.

It's $5.95 to activate but I'm going to try rolling one of mine a few more times. Then I'm going to use my VISA card to buy giftcards at Kroger for the 4x fuel points. Ruby - I didn't know about this deal! Was it in the ad? But I got quite a few Meijer GCs last week, so I'm not sure if I wanna do more this week. I do want to get our winter coats today, cause DH got the 30% off 3 or more apparel items in his Mperks. He seems to get all the good Qs. CVS - If the GUM t/b includes the Kids one, then you can get a $1 back through Savingstar. Same applies to the Glade warmer. I've already purchased the Glade, but I might just get it again with my $1/1 Q and 10/50. I've still received a 10/50 earlier this week. I now have 3 & am working the deals every week, to use them. I have over $70 in EBS, so I'm combining that with my 10/50 to get xmas gifts. I'm gonna do the freebies (hope my store has everything) and 10 Ferrero Rocher (BOGOF). I dont mind burning EBs on the candy, cause that's gifts for 10 people. I'll get back $2.50 through Savingstar (Cheerios, GUM, Glade), which I will apply to an amazon GC. Just got $60 Kohls cash that I will use on clearance next week, to stockpile summer clothes for us. Finally bought my Shark steam mop & so excited to use it. No more spending money on Swiffer pads for me. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Saveinla - I was thinking of you, cause I just opened my last pack of brown rice that we got for super cheap at RA last year. Wish I had gotten more. RA MM Olay deal 10/25 - RA has PG items spend $30 get $15 UPs. The Olay soap is B1G1 50% off & there was a $2 Q for Age Defying Series. I know some of my stores carry this, so I plan on buying 4 pks per store & making almost $10 profit. Item also counts towards $15 PG rebate.

Ruby - I just read on Bargains to bounty that you can roll the ViSA GC. So I might just use the Meijer GCs, to buy the VISA Gcs. That will give me $30 profit after activation fee. And then maybe roll my VISAs into new visa cards. I'm liking this deal. If i can roll this a few times, then I'll use the VISA GC to pay for my coats & still have a profit. Whoo-hoo, I'm excited now.

Shoprite beginning 11/25
I got a cat at Shoprite: the week of 11/25, get a $10 Shoprite (or other) GC for every $25 spent. Limit one per transaction per customer per day.
Now to be very judicious in compiling a list!

Quick question on Walgreens BF deals. Do you need to use the new card for these prices? Can I do several transactions on the same product (not in a row) or will it limit me with the card like CVS does?
TIA!

Can I do several transactions on the same product (not in a row) or will it limit me with the card like CVS does? TIA! I bought 4 contact lense solutions last week in 4 different transactions (different days) with the same card. I got the $5RR each time. Yes, you need the card to get the sale prices. The solution I got was $10.49? before the card and $6.99 after the card. HTH.

Thanks p8nt.
I thought that the $3 slow cooker at Ace Hardware would make a nice gift, if only I knew who wanted one. Then my brother walked in yesterday and said he wanted one. I ordered it today online. Free shipping to a store just a mile away that I never noticed before. Still in my pajamas. Didn't get pushed or punched or anything! (DH has been looking at the online videos of store fights over electronics.)

You reach the "silver" level/10% discount at RA with 500 points, right? I noticed on my receipt last week that I was actually at 494, so I might make it this year despite not trying at all. Now if only RA would come up with a few deals to make it worth it... I had good luck at the sketchy downtown CVS today. They had tons of stock of the freebies, so I picked up the earbuds, the flossers, and the mars candy. Exchanged some of my EBs from earlier in the week for new ones, and spent .14 OOP. I know CVS is running a P&G deal next week. I'd like to work out a transaction for it, but I'm not seeing much. I have a $2 CRT for tampax/always, and I thought I would have a $2 CRT for the charmin that I got this morning, but apparently it's only good today

Ruby - thank you, thank you for posting about the Visa GC. I've made over $200 profit today. Going back for round 2 later
Emhalf - here's my scenario for CVS next week. I got another $2 Charmin CRT today.
2 x Charmin $11.98 2 x Tide 11.88 2 x Covergirl Eyeshadow 5.39 (guestimating) its B1G1 50% 4 x Dawn 3.96 Venus razor 9.99 Carmex cream 4.99 Blistex 2.00 Less 10/50 (10.00) Less Charmin $1/2 Q (1.00) Less 2 x Charmin CRt (4.00) Less Tide q (1.00) Less Covergirl Q (3.00) Less 2 x $1/2 Dawn Qs (2.00) Less Venus Q (5.00) should be a $5 one on sunday Less Carmex Q (1.00) Less Blistex Q (0.25) OOP $22.94
Get back $19 EB ($10 PG, $5 venus, $3 Carmex, $1 Blistex). Not bad if you're a Charmin & Tide snob, like I am ;D

Hit 2 CVS's this afternoon. Store one was out of a couple of the freebies, but I was still able to use my $10/50. I bought one of the cake pop makers for 12.88 for a Christmas gift, so, probably lost a few EB's in the deal, but not bad. Store 2 had better stock, but I was SO MAD! I got a few of the freebies and 2 things I needed that weren't on sale and wanted to use my 25% coupon that came in the ad yesterday AND THE REGISTER WOULDN'T TAKE IT, SAYING IT WAS ALREADY USED...it was not...I was SO not happy, had them void the 2 full price items. I thought about calling CS but not sure I want to bother at this point!

dancinmama - we always get the $1/2 Q. Same goes for Dawn & Bounty.
Ruby - Meijer has another GC CAT deal next week. Buy $100 worth, get $15 CAT (Macys Nike Buffalo Wings more). I'm gonna use my Visas to buy the Macys ones and score another $30 in CATS. Dunno what I'm gonna spend all my CATS on, cause next week's ad is a dud. There's a 5% off grocery & HBA Mperks Q that's valid on Wednesday only.

I took 2 of mine and bought 4 HI cards at Rite Aid and got back $40.00 in UPs added to what I got yesterday. If Meijers doesn't get any more in, I'm going to buy giftcards at Kroger to earn more quadruple fuel points. I redeeemed 2 Meijer catalinas for some ink and a pair of pajamas and I'm saving the rest to "spend" for later.

MizBear Double Sun papers can be good BUT this week the ONLY insert is P & G-mostly their very $$$ items.
I MUST remember to do BF totally online in the future. Found nothing I really wanted in all my stops on Friday. I did go about 3 am so no nuts were still out. I did get the nail color set on BF special at CVS on Thur. It is a start on oldest grands bday gift – July. Had to go to 2 stores to find it.
I am currently monitoring my local grocery for clearance meat deals. I have generally found that after a holiday featuring a particular item (like turkey) there are often deals to be had. I did buy a 1 lb pkg of turkey lunch meat Fri (usually $6 per my receipt).
I still need to hit WAGs. Decided since I did not do on late Thur or Fri it was best to wait as my stores get their delivery on Fri. Also plan to hit the new store since that s/b the best stocked.

Very, very sad to read/hear that frugalsuz has decided to end her blog , I will miss it dearly! So, I've looked ahead at the next 2 weeks of CVS ads and see almost nothing to spend my $100 ish ECB's on...sigh...hope to find a Christmas gift or two, and I guess I'll just blow the rest on stuff I use and need, like dog food, pee pads, and any on sale food items.
