First Obama and now the EU..... ... Considering President Obama's use of drones (as one example), I am not sure that this one outdoes stupid when it comes to awarding a Peace Prize.

Wait...is this part of that "everyone's a winner and everyone gets a trophy, no matter how much you suck" mentality?

Let's see... a wealthy Swedish industrialist endowed a philanthropic foundation to make awards to people that achieved or performed exemplary deeds. This was begun over a century ago, and people are still benefiting from Mr. Nobel's endowment.
And some malcontent foreigners deign to sneer at the Foundation because the foreigners' idiosyncratic agendas aren't being promoted by the Foundation as they would wish them to be. How rude. I suggest that anyone may establish and endow philanthropic institutions if they choose so to do, and then they will be able to influence and direct those institutions in a manner they deem acceptable. That being stated, sneering at the selections of the Foundation that do not correspond with one's own agenda (whether it be "Pro-Life", Pro-Faith, Pro-military, or whatever) is mean-spirited, self-centered and chauvinistic.

"... malcontent foreigners deign to sneer at the Foundation because the foreigners' idiosyncratic agendas aren't being promoted by the Foundation as they would wish them to be..." Nonsense, Sparky... People are throwing rocks at the Prize Selection Committee because the Prize used to mean something and because they were accustomed to respecting and valuing the Prize and the process before the Committee cheapened it by resorting to some of the frustrating and anger- and ridicule-engendering choices that it has made in recent times. They're throwing rocks because they grieve over the loss of credibility on the part of the Committee and the loss of The Prize as a meaningful symbol of peace, NOT because the process does (or does not) conform to Agenda A or B. However, given your penchant for pissing in the wind and imagining and conjuring-up wrong-thinking where none exists, and trying to pick fights online and to heap ridicule and insult upon your colleauges without the slightest provocation, you were likely to miss that, and, of course, predictably, you did. Folks here don't answer to you. Now...go back to sleep.

Germans have already had enough....Greece will probably leave the single currency and the latest bailout is probably to buy time whilst the other countries build an exit strategy for them. If Spain, Portugal, Italy and France get in any more trouble the Euro is probably finished as these countries have much bigger economies. ...and like you say the 12 trading partners who are not in the Euro will be badly effected too. We pay into the EU contingency fund, the IMF and we have bailed out Ireland .....but fortunately for us, don't have to bail anyone else.
As for going to war.....not whilst NATO exists. We have to ally as there are bigger threats to world peace afoot.
If we go bankrupt...it won't be the first time.

From what I've read Greece fudged the numbers so they could be admitted to the EU. Culturally they were a bad fit and I had no idea until I read Boomerang that tax cheating and other cheating is a big part of the culture. I think they should be expelled. The unfortunate thing is they got some money that would have been better spent on the other countries in trouble.

Its been awarded to a block, of which we are part.
I'm so proud...I'd like to thank my parents, God, everyone who knows me............. ;D If they share it out we might get enough money to by a donut each.
Greece's bailouts can be afforded as they don't have a very big economy but other countries can't be afforded. They have unrest as they have had to implement severe austerity measures and some people have been hit very hard.
It will be even harder if they leave the Euro.

......they are just a bit short of people to nominate.... I heard that a front runner for next year's Nobel Peace Prize is Billy Bob Smith who apologized to his second cousin, Bobby Bill Jones for sleeping with his now ex-wife, thus ended a twenty-seven year feud between the Smith and the Jones clans. The two men admitted that it was silly that the feud went on that long, with both acknowledging "she wasn't that good" anyway.

I am fine, Spell, thank you. Just busy with lesson planning and marking homework/tests. It does seem long not seeing familiar faces on the board.
How can anyone be short of nominating peacemakers? Have we ran out of peacemakers? I wasn't too keen on seeing Obama possess the Nobel Peace Prize. I mean what better has he done to establish world peace and then what has the EU done?

Ah, Europe, that aging beautiful whore.
This is beyond a stretch, it is the kind of thing Saturday Night Live, at its best, could parody for a month.
Who doesn’t like la dolce vita…but the sweet life comes at a price. When the credit card is maxed out, you have to start to pay…and it may be too late. However, I think they will stumble through.
The Nobel Peace Prize has been bizarrely politicized and compromised over the past decade or so…it may soon become meaningless.

If by "whore" you mean someone who has spent to excess......then there are many others who fit that bill who are a bit closer to home Robert.

Too late. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) We shouldn't read too much into the fact that 'Bill' appears in both given names, should we Bill? Are you admitting something here? ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/actnatural.png) Like what? I would settle for pro-relevance. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/tongue2.png) And never you fear, Don. Some day we'll set up a P&M trust and hand out cash awards for "Grumpiest Man", "Excessive Use of Redundant Adjectives", and (crowd favourite) "Loudest Complaints About an Irrelevant Award Like Karma While Being Inexplicably Critical of Complaints About a Quasi-Relevant Award Like a Nobel Peace Prize". You're a shoo-in for all three.

Are you admitting something here? ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/actnatural.png) Like what? ... ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/duh.png) Got me. I had been masturbating at least a couple of times a week to part of a torn picture showing my brother's wife taken at a family reunion twenty seven years ago, fantasying that I was my brother. (I switched it to second cousin to distance myself more from my actions.) I ran into her in a bar recently and ended up taking her back to my place, even though she is still married to my brother. The idea of receiving the "Nobel Peace Prize" is symbolic of the desire to resolve the raging conflict within my soul. So Doctor V, do you think that I should tell my brother that he is married to a lousy ****? ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/yeahright.png)
