I'd guess my rates are much higher than yours. They multiply my meter reading by some variable to come up with therms used and that gets multiplied by delivery rate, commodity rate, privilege of having gas rate, etc to get my gas bill. The therms used for January was 80. December was 92. I'm gone for the weekend turned it down to 65 before I left. Should really dig out the lease and see what the minimum level is. It might have been 60..... I know my stove, heat, and dryer are gas. I have no clue what my hot water heater is bc I can't find it in my apt. I think I know where it is, there's a utility type room right behind my apt but I don't have access to that.

Your stove & dryer being gas might have something to do with your higher bills. Mine are both electric.

My electric goes from about $60 in the summer to $80 in the winter. Gas goes from maybe $25 in the summer (all that runs in the summer is my gas fired hot water heater). During winter my gas bill is normally maybe $150 for January and February, a couple of years ago during a long cold spell for here, it was over $200.

What is this winter you people speak of? It's 73* outside right now at my house.

My apartment is 100% electric and last month, my electric bill was just $80. I keep it set at 60 deg during the night and while I'm gone, but will bump it up to 65 deg to take a shower in the morning and get dressed (then I turn it back down) for work.
I'll be curious to see what it'll be the next month or so. I'm gone until mid March and have the thermostat set at 60 deg for the cats.
My neighbor keeps her apartment 10-15 deg warmer than I do and her electric bill runs well over $200. But going into her apartment is like walking into a steam sauna.
