Being of a certain age, ahem, I grew up just as Title IX was coming into play, so athletic opportunities were somewhat limited for me. In fact, I always say I was born 10-15 years too soon.
So, I was thrilled to see a new Nike ad on TV this morning that features some older, pioneering female Olympic athletes talking about their athletic experience. The ad finishes with Joan Benoit, winner of the first Olympic women's marathon, saying something to the effect of "I am 55 years old, I run 70 miles per week, and I just want to run."
Finally, an ad I can relate to.
Have you seen it? Thoughts?

I haven't seen that one, I'll look out for it tonight and tomorrow. the one that's been coming up that I think is excellent is the two young boys watching this current US/Chinese basketball teams. they each keep practicing as they grow up, and they both end up playing in the NBA and then for their respective countries in a later Games. just the parallel paths thing, I thought that was pretty cool

And, Chiver, your avatar is very timely given that the Olympics are in London.

I caught the end of your ad a little while ago, GRG. the Joanie Benoit quote jumped out at me from the TV. I didn't see her, though. I'll definitely look out for this one for the rest of the night. I expect to be tuning in the whole time, even though I stumbled onto spoilers. ETA: haha, wait - is "the Chive" a British thing? did not know that...

ETA: haha, wait - is "the Chive" a British thing? did not know that... Sorry, not the Chive part. Just the rest of it. The British government created a line of posters to encourage the British people to stay the course while being bombed nightly by the Germans during World War II. One such poster was "Keep Calm and Carry On". (I've also seen a similar t-shirt that read "Keep Calm and Lax On".)
