...you did something for the first time?
It's a stolen FB status but I think it is such a neat question.

I reserve the right to edit this if I think of something more recent, but..... last summer - I got my first and only tattoo.

I bought a GPS. I actually my husband's GPS because when he drove here from Phoenix, he was a few feet from the turn when he had to stop to ask where the connecting road to our house was. I never wanted him to be lost. But I never paid much attention to it.
I bought my own GPS for a professional trip to Florida. We both were going, and I wanted to take my car for mileage. He lamented the fact that it didn't have a GPS (which I sort of wanted) so I bought one.
Sad part: I have been to that area a million times, but the GPS took us a slightly different route. Then suddenly it directed us to a highway we couldn't connect to (it was a toll road and the entrance wasn't where ir was trying to connect us.) We ended up stopping at a fire station (remember that if you are lost . . . they know their area) to find out where to connect to that highway.
I still like the GPS, though. Getting lost makes me sick to my stomach.

My life is filled with tiny 'first times': I made Ratatouille for the first time last weekend (came out great will make it again!) I'm taking a different train line for the first time tomorrow (meeting friends in a different suburb after work). I bought some fancy smancy gourmet cheeses with names I can't pronounce and that I've never had before to have as an appetizer (with fruit and crackers) tomorrow evening. Two weeks ago I met some of the people on the project team who were visiting from other offices - I think this is the first time I've actually met the non local team members I'm working with. I recently climbed the stairs from the 11th floor to the 38th (actually a couple flights more) to the top of my office building - went all the way up to the 'roof door' which had lots of signs about sirens going off if the door was opened or tampered with... which was hard to resist but I did it.
I can't think of anything else right now - but when faced with doing the same old same old I opt to do something new/different - so there's LOTS of little things I've done for the first time.

All the time! I think trying new things is interesting, plus I get bored easily. From cooking/eating new foods to trying out new workouts, it's rare for a week to go by where I'm not experimenting with something. Heck, I rarely even drive the same route twice in my own town even to places I go every day. Travel to new places is the best, though - sensory overload in the best possible way. Come to think about it, this is one of those huge differences that probably makes my marriage hard on both of us. He's a homebody, routine guy (would eat the same pelletized "Man Food" every meal if it were available, wear the same clothes and do the same routine every day if he could arrange it), which is comfy for him. My constant need for change and new experience probably drives him nuts. Need for change is part of why I loved my consulting job so much; it was awesome to constantly be going in to new companies, solving problems and then when things got boring, moving to the next problem situation. Need for routine is one of the biggest parenting challenges for me. My kids - like most - do best with certain routines. The very idea of doing the same thing at the same time every day for an extended period of time makes me nauseous, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Don't even get me started on that common kid urge to watch certain movies multiple times.

Was legally bought a beer by both of my sons for the first time this year. My 18 year old bought me a Corona when we were on vacation in the U.S. Virgin Islands. My 21 year old bought me a Blue Moon the first time we went out after his birthday.

I hope I never run out of "first times". For me, vacations usually are the source. This year: first time in Alaska, a few new airports (Wrangell, Ketchikan, Juneau), a first flight on Alaska Air, first time snorkeling in 42-degree water, first cruise.
I like to add a new country every year but that may not happen this year. Alaska was enough!

I went to Alaska in May for the first time. In September I am doing a penguin interaction (I love penguins) for the first time. For my 40th b-day in March I have decided I am going to take a hot air balloon ride for the first time. It has been on my list of things to do for a while. I am also taking a 40th b-day celebration cruise with some friends to Belize, Honduras, and Cozumel. I plan to go para sailing in Cozumel for the first time.

Went on a cruise for the first time over the kids' Spring break this year. If I think of something more recent I'll post it, but I'm pretty boring.
Edit: Just realized I made a brisket for the first time since then (and a few times since-the kids love it).

I am wracking my brain and I can't think of anything I"ve done for the first time recently.
Went on the Sasquatch ride at Great Escape? That's not a big deal. Crap, I need to do something.

I'm doing something new right now.
In fact, my "new" job is filled with all kinds of new things. This doing new things isn't all it is cracked up to be.

Thank goodness someone else said it. I was reading all these posts and starting to feel bad about myself. Not to mention developing a faint urge to post a "fuck you!" Don't get me wrong - I like new things and have done a lot of cool shit; however it seems like I can't think of any firsts for a while. Not good ones, anyway.

We went 4 wheeling over a very rocky pass in the mountains a couple of weeks ago. It was so much fun, even with the rain and the snow. I'm looking forward to doing it again.
