My sentiments exactly and it's not because I'm racist. I felt the same way about Bush. They either don't understand the affect and danger of this debt or just don't want to deal with it.

The answer is likely both.

So help me out. What does one have to do to get action on this matter? I really don't need to spend hours trying to get people to help put pressure on our elected officials but people would much rather argue about things like is Obama more qualified then Palin. I am semi retired and comfortable but really concerned about my children's future.

There's not much you can do except preserve what you have. Make a call on the state of the economy and the political stability of your home nation and invest accordingly.

"The CBO also announced this week that Social Security will slip into the red this year and pay out $45 billion more than it collects in payroll taxes. The report claims Social Security will stay underwater and be flat broke by 2037."
By flat broke by 2037,they mean they will have exhausted the trust fund which is full of bonds, that will have to be paid by treasury, which will likely have to borrow the money

Yes. It is in effect govt. issuing an IOU to itself. I'd really like to try that myself but my wife would probably have a heart attack.
