Gov. Kasich To Black Lawmaker: ‘I Don’t Need Your People’ Delivering on his vision for a “new way,” Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) “is on pace to be the first governor since 1962 to have an entire Cabinet without any racial diversity.” Every one of his 22 full-time agency head appointments has been a white person. Only five are women. Dubbing diversity as “metrics that people tend to focus on,” Kasich said, “I can’t say I need to find somebody to fit this metric” because “it’s not the way I look at those things. I want the best possible team I can get.” More: thinkprogress.org/2011/01/28/kasich-black-your-people/

That's a great philosophy! I wish all politicians looked at it that way...

Absolutely. You can see how twisted the liberal mind is when they cry "racism" after hearing someone say they don't look at race as a factor...

So if a politician says that they believe in cutting spending and only votes for increases in spending, which carries more weight?

So if a politician says that they believe in cutting spending and only votes for increases in spending, which carries more weight? After a very short period of time, you start holding their feet to the fire, demanding no more spending, then you vote them out of office if they didn't listen

One would think that a government that represents the people should be representative of the people.

I am okay with whom Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) has in his cabinet. His cabinet-not mine.
But he makes no allies when he says (if true): “I don’t need your people." I believe the governor should explain what he meant by this statement.

So you would hire based on race rather than ability?

I wonder how many blacks, Hispanics, and other non-whites voted for Kasich?

I'm sure the DNC keeps records on that, not too sure about Repubs...

At some point, when time after time your assessment of the best possible appointee is of one particular race/gender/heritage/etc, it is legitimate to ask if it is possible for a person of a different category to be assessed by you to be the best possible appointee. Is 22 out of 22 a large enough number to ask that question?

I think those numbers speak for themselves. After all, Kasich is a white Republican and Tea Party suck-up.
