www.tvrage.com/shows/id-32228So, we watched just about every episode of Property Wars, which is about investors buying housing at auctions without being able to see the inside of the house, and then they open the house to find out what is inside. A rip on storage wars. And just as formula. It is funny to see the wide variety of houses, and we are able to identify some of the neighborhoods and landmarks, so it is fun for us. In one episode the guy bought the house with the intention of living in it. Of course, it was a newer house, and the people that let it go hadn't trashed it on the way out. Wouldn't it be a trip to buy a home that way - for personal use.

I've seen that show. Those guys are some serious risk takers. Until I saw the show, I had never heard of buying a house without being able to see the inside of it. I wonder if there is anyplace else in the country that sells houses like that.

It is the "Court room steps" (I saw them when I was on Jury Duty.) So, it must happen. I remember watching one of those flipping shows where the guy bought a house on the courtroom steps, and that was not in AZ. It was the one where they followed around a company of people who did the flipping.

My renters for the condo rented it sight unseen. They are from AZ. I think they must have watched the show! On a more serious post, my favorite foreclosure story is about 20 years old wherein some investor (mis) represented himself to get an interior inspection of the house in order to check out a foreclosure prior to the courthouse steps auction. He thought it was fine, bid on it successfully and after the auction drove to the property. He noticed the roof was sagging and thought that was odd. He entered the property and found that the prior owner had removed every internal wall, including the load bearing ones! Since I'm relatively risk adverse, I thought it was a great story to wait until the bank got the property back and when the real bargaining happens!
