Did you lose weight on it and did you find it very restrictive? How long did you stay on it and how much weight did you lose.
A couple of coworkers were talking about trying this diet starting in the next week or so, but it seems pretty restrictive. I think weight watchers is much better.

Hats the point of dieting for 17 days? You'll put the weight right back on when you go back to eating "normally".
Diets don't work. Lifestyle changes do.

It's not really a 17 day diet, is it?

Best weight loss "trick" I have ever done is bags of oranges on my desk at work, with a goal to eat at least three each day while I am sitting at my desk. That, plus putting away the Cheezits and cookies has helped a lot

There are fad diets and there are fad diets. Most are unsustainable in the long run. Eat less. Move more.

My DH's aunt and uncle were just talking about the 17 day diet. Guess they did the first cycle and lost something like 15 pounds each in 17 days. But from the way his aunt was talking, it's seriously just changing your lifestyle. Don't eat crap and exercise more. I wish that advice would make me rich!! She did blab on and on about how not eating something or other for the first 17 days clears toxins from your liver (maybe it was that you couldn't drink beer...).

Almost any diet can help you lose weight in the short term because of the focus on food that being on a diet helps you have.

I think 17 days is enough to clear things from your system. We were in Romania for three weeks and I really did restrict what i ate and drank, and it was hardly processed at all, and i felt good, noticed things about my body... and got violently ill when we came home and started eating 'like normal' again... Reminded me that I got 'food poisoning' last time we came home from there... which led me to think there was something still 'poisoning' me in what we were actually eating... I've been doing much better without corn... not sure if its the corn or that not eating corn basically doesn't let you eat any processed stuff any more.... I have also dropped around 15 lbs, but over a much longer time period than 17 days...

I lost 70lbs on Weight Watchers several years ago. I've gained back a good chunk of the weight so I'm back on it. In my opinion it's the most balanced diet and the one that's most helpful in making long term changes. The LEARN Program for Weight Management is also fabulous. It's out of print but you can get it used from Amazon. It focuses on making a small change each week.

Rep to welt; it all comes down to moving more and eating less. As a lot of other people pointed out a lot of fad diets shock your system and can result in some big weight loss early on but generally they aren't permanent solutions and once your body adjusts you will put weight back on.
Anne81 my mom also did weightwatchers and loss 100lbs but put a lot of it back on because she fell off the wagon and stopped walking as much as she was. She keeps saying she needs to start back up and hopefully she does but in the mean time I just try to motivate her to go for a walk after work.

I got the book and am reading it. Buying the stuff tomorrow. A lot of it I already do but the giving up of white rice and bread is going to be painful.

I agree with a lot of the posters thst eating less and exercising more is key. I just heard today that two of my coworkers are going to try it, I think I'll stick to WW.

Just eating less and exercising more isn't going to work for everyone. I'm convinced that lots of people will find that genetically modified foods and food allergens, etc. are culprits in their weight issues.

My problem is I love food. I need to lose 15 pounds, but I can't imagine restricting what I eat.

Angel, no way for you or anyone else in Italy. Although they do have a section in the book for dieters in other countries/ethnicities.

deminmaine that is my problem (one of my many problems ) I can't seem to just eat until I am satiated. Plus I really like my wine! I am not obese...just a little chubby right now.

If you can't feel satisfied, I would look seriously at food allergies/sensitivities... I assume you aren't doing a lot of 'low fat' ?

Oped I don't think I have a food allergy. I am just a food whore. I wil eat even when full because I love food! If it is something new I will eat it when full because I don't want to miss out. I really should go for a jog.
