I just dropped my ODS off for his first session of driver's ed. I don't know whether to jump for joy or sit down and cry. When did he get so grown up? Why didn't someone warn me that children grow up at the speed of light? Won't it be great to have him drive himself to activities? He can even drive YDS to activities. I can finally have some time in the evening to make dinner. Who took my little boy and replaced him with this mancub? ?

GRG - or depending on the time I dropped off my 1 year old to daycare for the 1st time today. She had been with a neighbor when I went back to work 10 months ago. Also, she turned 1 yesterday. Where has the time gone?

Where has the time gone? Awww, Taz. for you, too!!!! Happy Birthday to your DD!!!! I also wish her a smooth transition to day care. It sounds like she's had a great first year with great care so she'll do great at day care. Enjoy her every day -- they seriously turn into adults overnight!

Man do I know this feeling well! I put my DD in the six hour behind the wheel driver ed last spring. Everytime we get in the car and she asks if she can drive it still surprises me. My "baby" is going into fourth grade this year. How the heck did they get so big and I don't feel that much older? I was thinking the other day that college for her is really just around the corner. Some days it can't come soon enough and some days it makes me sad. It really is confusing.

I cried w/the older (but LOVED the fact she could drive to 6 am athletic practice andback from away meets at 10-10:30 pm).
I jumped for joy w/the younger because because NO MORE being the family go to driver - in fact we paid for 1/2 the cost of private drivers ed to get her driving 6 months sooner than school program was available.

DS turns 15 in October, can't wait for him to get his driving permit. But, I also wish I could go back to him being two-years-old and get a do-over sometimes

DD just turned one, and already she's looking more like a toddler & less like a baby. I swear she's going to be in college next week. grg.

My two are in their 50s. I'll tell you where the time goes. It goes into people you look at and know you love them so much, and are so proud of who they are you could simply burst. That's where it goes. All the memories, all the trials, all the tears, and all the worrying don't mean a darned thing when you realize you're looking at a truly wonderful human being who's a part of you and who loves you just as much as you love him/her. Yep. Time flies ... and turns into butterflies.

My oldest child (not DH's two sons) is going to be a freshman in high school this year. And...she's now taller than I am.

Aww, thanks, sam! I remember raising these kids and it wasn't always an easy job ... for them, or for me. I remember the fretting and worrying and wondering if I was doing things "right". For all you young parents, just know the day will come when it all comes together and shines from the eyes of someone so special they make your heart hurt!
