I hate working out. Always have, and I don't expect some epiphany now. I've tried a lot of different things, I hate running, I hate stair-climbers, I hate elliptical. I kind of liked lifting - but I can't find any cardio that I don't just want to stop - immediately. On top of that, I feel quite pressured by my life right now, so carving out time to do something that I hate doesn't appear to be a priority.
However, I jiggle when I wiggle and it ain't a good thing.
Has anyone had any experience with those timed circuits? I know Curves" started it. But we now have a YouFit right next to where my daughter does Gymnastics, and I thought maybe I could make a schedule that would work. They have a 20 minute circuit. Anyone familiar?

Yep. I have tried those. But I hated it. I felt I was rushing through the circuit just to get it done! My whole focus was on time and accomplishing everything within the timeframe.
I am more of a Zumba type person. Any indoor exercise thats done with fast music I am able to do well. I love Zumba, Aerobics and Kickboxing. Like you, I hate treadmill, elliptical, stair climbing or pretty much any other indoor exercise equipment.

I tried circuit training and didn't like but mainly because running and walking seems to clear my head and I prefer outdoor activities (except for now when it is a 100 degrees outside). I also like zumba. I know a few people who do the circuit training though and like it because it doesn't seem to take up as much of their time and they see results.

Count me in for the Zumba, it's one of the workouts I can do consistently and not really get bored (I workout at home). There are several videos on Youtube that are full songs...if you have a favorite recent upbeat song, chances are there will be a routine for it. A study just came out backing Zumba's claim that you can burn over 500 calories in an hour (didn't read to see the weight of the people they were testing, more weight=more calories burned)
Circuit training may give you biggest "bang for your buck" so to speak on just getting it in and getting some results, if you just hate any kind of exercise.

I stopped by the local Curves to see what their facilities were like. Normally I walk for exercise after work, but it's too friggin' hot right now.
What I didn't like about it was that the equipment was set very close together, close enough to allow (even encourage) chatting among the patrons. This would be ideal for people who like to pass boring exercise time by socializing, but my exercise time also serves as a mental cool-down period between work and home where I can de-stress and let go of the day by walking on an outside, isolated track where it's pretty much me and the crows and bunnies.
Having some very nice but very social lady try to chat me up while I'm wiggling and bouncing would not give me that quiet time, so I'm sticking with the hot sweaty walks.

That is an idea - of course, I may have to drive all over kingdom come to find a gym.

So uncool - I just googled "Gyms near" and then put in the cross streets I'm looking for, and it returned a pizza place. I love their pizza, but that is just mean! Stupid Google. Maybe I'll switch to Bing.

I swim, but I realize that's not for everyone.
There are a few people who use the local pool and power "walk" in the deep lanes, wearing a flotation belt. Seemed like a good workout, no destruction of joints, no need to know how to swim.

Does your gym have a recubant bike? I tried the other cardio machines and I get winded way to quickly using those. And a regular exercise bike makes me hurt in my groin. A recumbant bike is hte the only thing I can do inside for exercise that doesn't bother me. I guess it suits my desire to sit on my tookus and allows me to watch TV or read while getting in enough exercise to make a small difference.

I don't like gyms either but when it's 110 in Phoenix, hiking after 9am is a non starter.
I loved spin and would do it 2x week and alternated with crack of dawn hiking. I think the Y up in Cave Creek does spin classes now. I know that's too far north for you Thyme but see if there's a Y near you.
I also took a couple of Zumba classes while I was in Germany. I have no coordination but had fun anyway. ;D

Maybe I'll bite the bullet and sign up for 12 weeks of crossfit or something. Still a third of what my husband spent to get into shape.

An Ipod filled with the music that makes you happy does make working out on those boring machines a lot less dismal.
Do you like to dance? If so, why not just have a private dance party in your house. You can always add wrist and ankle weights to make it harder.
Have you tried organized, fast paced sports like soccer and basketball? I know it is harder to find sports leagues if you're a woman, but it may be worth a try.

If you hate working out, try to find ways to make working out fun. Yes, it can be done. I have my ipod and Beats and i bepop on the treadmill walking, jogging and doing a series of arm exercises while i walk in sort of a dance/walk/ jazzy thing. It probably looks ridiculous but i dont care. I blast my music and i really enjoy it. Good music really motivates me. And, keep a variety. Just do SOMETHING. Go out and walk one day. The next day, ride your bike. Go swimming. Play with the kids. Go hiking or whatever. I really try to come up with new ways to get more exercise and it also enhances your life. JUST DO IT@!

I have zero coordination. All the most humiliating expericences of my life are associated with ball sports. I would rather end up 900 pounds and bed ridden than play a team sport.

I know you're not exactly looking for new suggestions, but I really like kettlebells. Weight and cardio at the same time, and affordable small equipment that I can keep at home too.
It sounds like location timing is your biggest thing, and in that case whatever meets those items is probably your best bet.

So, nobody has ever done Youfit?
I understand your suggestions. I understand playing with the kids burns calories. I understand sports keep you healthy. I understand that if you "don't care what you look like" you might enjoy it. I am searching for something that works for my life. 4 hour hikes? Sure, I'll just quit my job and do those 3 times a week. Join a team? Only if you really hate those other people, and you are going to pay me to ruin their team. I thought maybe YouFit would work, and I'm looking to see if anyone knows anything about it.

Pizza is always better than exercise Maybe you can incorporate it into a workout somehow? Stand a slice on end and do push ups over it, getting a bite every time? ;D

I could make time for that. If you could design a "slice holder" to keep the pizza upright you might even make some money at it

I have zero coordination. All the most humiliating expericences of my life are associated with ball sports. I would rather end up 900 pounds and bed ridden than play a team sport. Fair enough. There are non-competetive sports leagues out there, where everyone is just supposed to have fun and get exercise. Not sure how they are in real life though. Though, with exercise, not giving a flying f--- what other people think is going to help a lot. Not saying you need to do the team sport thing, mind you. But most forms of exercise I've tried did seem to involve me making a fool of myself, or at least feel like I was. I'm pretty sure rollerblading in the park caused the most amusement.
