Oh and there's a sorting facility pretty much IN TOWN with that post office. My friend's XH works there.

Pfft. I had a package shipped from CA to me in NJ. It went through 3 sorting facilities in CA before leaving the state of CA. Then it went to FL and went through 3 more. At which point it went to a sorting facility in DE and was marked as ground shipping after that and it said ETA would be 2-4 days. We couldn't figure out if they were putting it in a dingy or had a couple of people pushing the truck to NJ. I am pretty sure that the American Indians used to be able to travel fifty miles a day so I know they would have made it in less than two days.

And this is why I prefer using UPS and why the U.S. Post Office is going bankrupt! But the reason I MOST hate getting packages via the USPS is because I live on a rural route and instead of delivering to my porch, they've been known to put my item in a bag and hang it from my mailbox, out on the busy street for anyone to see and nab! That's where my nieces American Girl outfits ended up one Christmas! Wherever possible, I try to say "UPS, please!". But there's also some weird connection where it's sent by UPS, but delivered by the post office? Haven't figured that one out - but it always happens when it takes longer to arrive than it should!

No, we don't walk away. But when we're holding on to something precious, we run.

They have been doing it for a while. MY shipping delay was originally shipped through UPS also. I have ni idea what part of the delay was UPS's fault and how much was USPS's fault. The reason though it simple. UPS doesn't have the manpower/planes to handle all the packages so paying the USPS is cheaper.
