Does wanting to play the trumpet count?
Tried for three years...could never quite get it right (11-13 yrs old)
Grew 7 inches and gained 80 lbs the next year, and played football for next 5 years

I was first chair flute all 4 years ;D Subbed in some piccolo/oboe for concert band. I did enjoy marching band except for senior year, when I had an asshole BF whom I let talk me into quitting halfway through the year

I marched a tall flag one year and played the alto saxophone the other years. I was lucky enough to march in the Pasadena Rose Parade! (We beat Ohio State that year :-) ). I was also courtside the year John Wooden won his tenth and final national basketball championship. These two events plus taking a master dance class with Martha Graham and playing in the student orchestra under Aaron Copeland were the highlights of my college career.
And now you can figure out how old I am (and where I went to school) :-)

I was only in marching band in 7th to 9th grade. I was in concert band until I graduated. But I also played sports to counteract the band dorkiness. And went to parties.

Piccolo.
High school - yes College - yes
But the best part is that I did the first two years in college and then a whole group of music majors that I partied with decided as seniors they were going to march, so I marched that year too. We had the best time.

played the alto sax . . had a crappy teacher . . quit.
But you know what was great about him? We would pay him for the reeds and he would tell us to get them from the office. Now in the sax case is where he kept the reeds . . . along with a bottle of whiskey. Pay for the reed, take a sip of whiskey, grab a reed. I can't tell you how many extra reeds I had (along with some other students).

Clarinet in 10th grade (our high school started in 10th) Tall Flags, Marching Band captain senior year
My school had a historically terrible football program (took ~50 years before first winning season) and a great band program. So band was cool (at least we thought so). We were always invited to participate in Orange bowl game and parade, and had a trip to Europe one year.

FESS UP! Who did it behind the bleachers on the football field? I didn't, but I want to know who else here did.

Played the piano. Kinda hard to march with that. And my high school was VERY small. We didn't even have football.

No, worse. Cello in the orchestra. Now that's some serious geek.
