My B in Evidence II is showing It will be interesting to see how the trial goes. I always wonder about the jury selection process in cases like these... everyone has a pretty strong opinion one way or another, I'd think it'd be very difficult to find 14 people willing to empty their minds and make a decision on the evidence. Eh, I got a B in evidence too. Maybe a B-. Everything I learned about evidence was from my stints as an ADA and Public Defender. Better than any law school class......

It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

Thanks, swamp. Now, maybe we can get on with discussing what we know (which ain't much) as compared to what we don't know (which is a whole lot).

This case is clearly NOT self defense in any sense of the word.

Bottom line to me is that it was not Zimmerman's place to follow anyone around in the dark. That is not what a neighborhood watch does. Zimmerman reminds me of those nut jobs who have some kind of hero complex and set bombs off just so they can run into a burning building and be deemed a hero. He followed a teenager around with a gun in his hand probably hoping this kid was up to no good so he could be the "savior of the neighborhood." Personally this whole case makes me sick to my stomach and has from the beginning. A kid is dead and this is his apology? If I was this kids parents I wouldn't accept his half ass apology either. ETA: Maybe it will be God's plan for him to spend time in prison

I never said Trayvon was a good guy. George never said it was God's plan for Trayvon to die either :-)

I never said Trayvon was a good guy. George never said it was God's plan for Trayvon to die either :-) George never really said what was God's plan. I assumed he meant how things happened. You see it different. I think it was a crappy interview because he ddin't get pressed on this issue. But cross examining him would probably make him shut up, which makes for a bad interview.

He said "I feel it was all God's plan"... unless he has a different definition of "all" than I do, I would think that would include the shooting.

I never said Trayvon was a good guy. George never said it was God's plan for Trayvon to die either :-) you can't pick and choose what's part of "God's plan". Either it all is or none of it is.

Besides, I think standard advice for those trying to comfort the grieving is DO NOT EVER SAY ANYTHING ABOUT GOD'S PLAN EVER. So saying that on national television, when half the country already wants you to fry, is probably a bad move.

I never said Trayvon was a good guy. George never said it was God's plan for Trayvon to die either :-) No, just that it was in God's plan for him to judge. Judgement = death of this kid. He also said he wouldn't do anything differently that night if given the chance. Considering a kid is dead that sounds pretty messed up to me. I personally know police officers who have truly had to shoot someone in self-defense who have said they might do something differently.

This guy's behavior is just weird.
Wheather or not he's guilty, he's a strange guy.

He said he didn't regret following the kid or bringing his gun. How do you not regret following the kid when that choice led to someone dying. If I were the parents I wouldn't think much of his apology either. He basically said he was sorry, but if he had to do it over again he would do the same thing. That isn't being sorry.

He is strange and should be quiet. I would never rejoice over killing someone but have no lingering doubts if I did have to. I don't go looking for trouble but if it finds me, I refuse to be a victim.

I still think following the kid is what is going to get him convicted. If I chased the EX down the street and shot her, I think I'd be in deep doo doo. If I shoot her in my house, not so much.

Jaya, absolutely, but that s human nature. People aren't sorry they do something that upsets someone else, they are sorry about the repercussion.

Really? What country are you in? In the USA, if someone is beating you up and saying you are going to die, then you have the right to defend your life at any means. Thank God!

It's a question of fact for the jury. The only person around to say Martin said that was Zimmerman, who isn't exactly a disinsterested witness.

In which state do you practice law? Because I'm in Indiana and that is absolutely not true.

Yeah, if they broke into your house & did this. If you were following them all creepy at night, you probably are going to lose this right. I'm not a lawyer, I just don't think you can instigate a situation & later claim self defense.

I've smacked DH on the arm and said "I'm gonna kill you" when he's being a smart ass. I guess he has the right to shoot me.

Sure its self defense.. Zimmerman was on he ground.. getting the daylights beat out of him. He didn't know This boy from Adam or if he was going to kill Zimmerman, actually he said "you are going to die".. that statement in itself makes it self defense. There is no evidence Martin said "you're going to die". There is only Zimmerman's claim Martin said "you're going to die". True, but you and I were not there, Zimmerman and Trayveon were. Once can speak, one cannot. But.. Zimmerman having the injuries he has, I tend to beleive him. He was defending his life.. if he doesn't walk from this, I will be surprised.
