Jam is such a harsh word. Does stuffed work better for you? I think 'stuffed' is an MJ approved term. Or status.

If you can't get the cord plugged in by the forth date there is something wrong.

Jiggle the Cord I've heard it called a lot of names in my many years on earth, but never a cord. Is that the same thing as a wet noodle

you can try spreading (prongs) the a little and then work it(the cord) on with a gentle rocking motion It was the female end of the cord. The prongs on the back of the monitor are recessed; they aren't accessible. As somebody suggested, a bit of tape (packaging tape, in my case) did the trick.

I swear by black electrical tape, the kind you wrap around hockey sticks.

So the male connector didn't have a good connection with the female cord. Oh no! Jiggling may help but nothing is as good as the right fit.

First, i jiggle the cord. Then, if it doesn't work, a hammer works quite nicely. Doesn't fix it but makes you feel soooo much better. My kids tell stories about me cutting the Christmas lights off the tree with wire cutters cuz i couldn't get them untangled.

I'll bet all the guys just crossed their legs and squirmed uncomfortably in their chairs... I don't think Shooby realizes we're not really talking about the computer cord anymore - we've moved on to the double entendres.

Oh, the threat of wire cutters on the cord is all it takes to send the running!

while a Man's tools( needle nose pliers) are help full for spreading( prongs) a little lubricant (loctite) on the end ensures a tight satisfying fit

Thanks for the tip, Virgil. Near computer illiterates like me need all the help they can get. No problem, Catseye. That was 50% of the original intent in starting the thread. The other 50% was to "celebrate", in a sense, my $1,000+ windfall. The double entendre did occur to me before I hit "Post" on the OP, but I judged that "cord" was too poor a match for "finger", and "jiggle" too poor a match for "pull" for the analogy to have any weight. Of course that judgment turned out to be terribly mistaken in retrospect, and the result is a thread with two or three actual on-topic posts, and the better half of a hundred thinly-veiled "pull my finger" jokes. As crude as those jokes are, I suppose I should be grateful the thread didn't stray into darker territory, such as lewdness, sexual innuendo and the like.
