Chocolat....all's well that that ends well...
Same thing happened last week. I got up at 3:00 am for some reason and noticed one of the screens popped out of the spare bedroom window. Our cat had gotten out. Found her under the deck, finally got her to come out and brought her back inside.....I hate when that happens.

The cat will probably come back if it's not dead. I've had cats disappear for two weeks before and come back safe and sound. But cats can also get stuck in odd places, check places where it might have been "closed up" like attics, closets, and garages. One time one of my parent's cats disappeared and he ended up being sealed in the neighbor's garage for about three days.

I was cat sitting for someone once, and she had one particularly neurotic cat who would hide under the bed any time a stranger came in the house. She had two other normal cats. I put out food for all 3 cats each day, and it was gone the next day. Saw 2 of the cats but never saw the 3rd cat. Ever. Turns out the cat died while she was gone. She was mad at me, but I could never understand why. I didn't kill it, and it never came out anyway so how was I to know it was dead? The other cats ate the food up, so I wouldn't have known by leftover food either.
