Optimist, I never said anything to her because I only saw her maybe twice a year. Every time we saw her she made it well known she was not there to see me. She was there to see her grandson. She didn't mince words about it at all. She never said anything in front of Goose though. She would wait until he left the room or went outside. I usually just left and let her be a miserable bitch.

I hate funerals too. I can't walk up to the body or I cry, and I hate crying. At my Grampa's funeral the family (kids, thankfully not grandkids) took a photo of all of them around the open casket. I hope no one ever expects me to do that!

More than once, my grandfather has casually mentioned a combination of a pressure sensitive kneeling pad, and some disney technology. Upon kneeling, music and a recording should start. Bonus if the body itself can sit up and wave. "Hello, nice to see you. Thank you for coming".
ETA: bonus for facial recognition, so if its someone he doesn't want there, the message can change accordingly.

I'm sure there would be a few more funerals immediately after that stunt. ;D

That could be nice though! Group discount, just one funeral to go to instead of half a dozen, fewer flowers to buy...
