No one has posted here since Sept? Why?
We hit the 70's today...too warm for Dec., but it happens some times in this area. After tonight, our lows will be in the 60's & for the next week, the highs will be in the 70's...before the next drop. Just saw where Tx. may set a new high record for the day in some area.
What about ya'al?

What about ya'al? Officially, 77 degrees today. Warmest Christmas day temperature since 1889 which was 75 degrees. And as you say for the next five ot six days in the 70s. Even after that, no nighttime temps below thirty-two degrees for the foreseeable future.

We are under an Extreme Cold Warning since yesterday.
It is currently -27C (-39C with wind chill) or -17F (-38F with wind chill). I had forgotten that -40 is the same in C & F so the -38F surprised me for a bit.

72 here though it should be around 50. And it was 77 degrees Chrstmas day. Broke the record for Christmas day of 75 degrees set back in 1889.

5 degrees Fahrenheit. 8 inches of snow. We typically don't get this cold or that much snow.

Though she no longer posts here, I believe it was Lone Wolf who lived near the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California. She was concerned about the lack of snow covering the mountains. This winter, snow has come back in a vengeance in the mountain range. About time. Lake Tahoe shatters 50-year December snowfall record with more than 16 feet of snowOn Monday, December snow totals at the UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab reached 193.7 inches, blowing a 1970 record of 179 inches out of the water. The lab, located at Donner Pass, has received roughly 39 inches of snow in the past 24 hours and could break the 200-inch mark today. The lab was built in 1946 by the U.S. Weather Bureau and Army Corps of Engineers and maintains one of the longest-running manual snow depth records in the world, dating back to 1879. “This has been a very beneficial storm for the Sierra region,” said Dan McEvoy, regional climatologist for the Western Regional Climate Center. It is wicked cold outside today. It actually has been bitter cold for 3-4 days now. The wind is blowing hard and has been SO cold, it chills you to the bone in mere seconds. They are predicting more snow tonight and tomorrow.
My car is not good in the snow. It's a bit scary. Quite a bit.
Stay safe, stay well and stay warm!

Are you still working or are you able to sit tight in the house for a week plus without having to go out. Being retired and if I know bad/cold weather might be coming in for a spell, I buy enough supplies to last me and the beasts for a while.

Boise, ID. It is cold and snowy. Not as bad as other areas, but it does seem like it has snowed almost every day for a week. It hasn't really accumulated to anything. New Year's eve, the low is 2F and New Year's day the high is 22F. Colder than I would like, but it looks to warm up next week and will melt any of the snow that is left lingering around.

10+ inches here and it's still snowing. DD needed a ride to work today because he car is too small and light for this crap. We have a thick layer of ice under all the new snow.

Snow is predicted again, today/tonight. 6-12" in some areas.
In addition to additional officers patrolling tonight for DUI's (New Year's Eve), local law enforcement is encouraging anyone who sees suspicious driving, to call 911 and report it. 😳 Saying that impaired driving is an emergency, so using 911 is appropriate and warranted. This includes going the appropriate speed, use of signals, lane changes/staying in your lane etc.
This seems like a recipe for disaster! Between New Year's Eve, the weather, and people trying to get info to report other drivers, for what they perceive as improper driving practices and calling to report said driver, all while maintaining their own proper driving practices... Yeah, this doesn't seem real smart.
Somebody pisses you off, call 911 and report them! All those police wannabe's, regulating everyone else's speed and driving, calling 911, in the middle of a snowstorm. Ugh.
I'll either come home early (5-7?), or spend the night at DD2'S, to avoid the mess.
Happy New Year! Have fun and be safe!

Low 70s today and tomorrow with severe weather overnight into tomorrow.
And then Sunday, a high of 33 degrees with light, non-accumulating snow.
40 degree drop in daytime and night time temps. Welcome winter. Not!

Well crap. Really thought it was going to be a mild winter this year based on temperatures and hardly any snow to speak of so far.
Local weather nerds have now issued a winter storm warning and to expect 6-8 inches by mid-morning tomorrow .

I didn't even look outside today. I didn't want to know if the weather was bad. I knew it was cold. I hope it isn't bad in the morning.
I hope you all enjoy your day tomorrow!

We ended up with a high of 79 degrees today. Beat the old NY day record of 75 degrees. Tomorrow we will be lucky to reach 35 degrees during the day,

Weather in my area hasn't been too bad. Around 20F at night and 30F in the day. But no snow or rain, for a few days. The inversion has been pretty bad though. Even though I live in a valley, the last 3-4 days you could barely see the rocky mountains, because of it. Today, it doesn't seem so bad- depending on which direction you look.
