Sorry to hear this, where do you live? I think if you are homeless, almost all dignity has been taken from you, so you are probably uncaring of boundaries because probably almost no one cares for yours. I don't really know, but I have watched several films that broached the topic of homelessness, two of them were short term homeless heroes who emerged triumphant. At least one or more films were set in foreign countries and pretty eye opening. I wish I could remember their titles, as I'd recommend them as something to watch. Many people become homeless when they can no longer afford market rent, and shelters are often like the street, just with the amenity of a bed to go along with side eye all night in an effort to keep what belongings you do have left. I had a XBF intentionally go homeless for about 6 months in this area, however, he knew he could abandon the experiment at any time so his experience would be different than the average homeless person, however I do know a few tricks for survival because of his experiences. I hope you and your mgmt can find a way to open the pool safely. Has anyone contacted local or state govt for solutions yet? The state has been contacted so many times, by so many people. Ever since they said it's no longer illegal to panhandle and started letting them live on the streets, the problem has exploded everywhere, IMO. Why they feel like they should get free housing, food, utilities, internet, transportation, health care and entertainment is beyond me. Who wouldn't want that? I know they have issues. So do I. That doesn't give them more rights than anyone else. I don't have any answers. But what they're currently doing isn't working. Have you been interviewing a bunch of them, or this belief based on no facts? There is no free housing unless your relatives or church provides it. Affordable housing and Section 8 are based on income, and they are OK with you using more than 50% of your income for housing even though the guidelines say otherwise. One can get free food from food pantries. Not sure why that's a problem, and there is SNAP if you meet the income limits, etc. I really don't know what part of the US you live in that you believe free internet, Utilities, healthcare and transport is even possible. I've lived on the margins for more than a decade, its hoop jumping to get reduced service internet if you qualify and by me in CNJ the bottom tier of need, which I am in, usually allows for $300 max a year for heating costs. Nothing for cooling, and its usually less because of need/demand. If your electric & gas are less than $300 a year, I am jealous. The brief time I qualified for ACA, I still had to come up with gas money to get there and pay for scrips, vitamins, tests and other things that center suggested. I still have not done my colon cancer test from then, nor something more serious testing because $$. If you are poor enough to qualify for ACA in CNJ as a single person you are likely struggling to pay for housing, meds. transport, etc. Now some people do get cheaper transport like buses, but you need to live where that is possible. Free? Haven't heard of that here, except for one town's EMTs who transport residents places because ambulance costs are so high. But that has nothing to do with income. It has to do whether they live in that town and someone asks. Most people are homeless because they can't afford to be homed. I've been trying to get into very low income housing off and on for a decade plus. I have not had success yet. Sometimes, my rent is 70% of my gross income. I know the YM wisdom is one can't do 50% or greater for very long, but that's exactly where I have been for more than 10 years. I'm not driving a 20+ yr old car because its my heart's desire.

But I don't like them impacting my life in a negative way. And yes, I have interacted with plenty. And have had family members who were homeless for a time. It is not my desire to debate this issue with you, or anyone else. ETA In March I got a "new" car. A 2012 Ford Focus. Not because it is the car of my dreams. I don't live in the area I'd like to, I live where I can afford. I don't have credit cards, or savings. I'm not one of the people talking about stocks and vacations on here. I'm living in my reality, the best I can. Just as you are yours.

Thankfully Elsa was much ado about nothing-this time!! Well, Elsa's affects depended on where you lived...we got minor flooding out of her as she went past. Thank goodness that was all. We are HOT & HUMID...was over 90º today, but humidity made it feel more like 105º-107º.

I'm living in my reality, the best I can. Just as you are yours. OK we won't debate. I have not in RL had anyone profess they want the above free except in a joking manner. I think the further south you live, the more likely some homeless have chosen the street over other options. There are always rules to live by though whether it is on the streets, in a shelter or even in some homeless encampment in the woods. There are several films that deal with homelessness even if its brief. I know you probably won't check it out, but I was amused when "Conversations with God" came out and was shown at the church I was attending. Some folks were astounded that living in a park was not free. I laughed. I don't think people think about how living various places works. It is not free. One of the international films concerned a guy who lived in a dumpster he managed to rent from a cop. Unless you are living in a cave by yourself or in the wilderness away from people, there will be rules.

Sweltering up to 100 degrees or more. AQI 54. Not good.
When I was out this morning at 84 degrees, I didn't feel the air heat increasing like some heat waves.

Still hot! But they're saying the weekend should be a little cooler. I hope so!
I took an oscillating fan to a young family of 4, living without a/c a few days ago. Baby is only a few months old. Big brother is 2, I think. It's not much, but I hope it helps. It's got to be better than nothing.

Summer has been kind up to now. We should be hitting 100 degrees over the next few days. Our average daytime temp this time of year is 92 degrees. Humidity high. So that should raise the heat index to the mid-100 teens.

“They” actually issued a “heat alert” here. I can’t remember the last time I have seen that. With all the rain and showers we have had mild days and I use the term loosely. But pretty much what Tenn said except I’m on Gulf Coast! But it’s only 74 right now at 7am Just sit back and wait afternoon storms to blow in and out.

We've gone from boiling hot and dry, to quite chilly, wet and dreary. From 100 F to 50 F. From severe drought to evacuations due to flooding.
1st world issues, I know.
