Well, that first band off the Tropical Storm has just barely missed us. We could use a good soaker. So maybe tomorrow we will catch some of the tail end of the TS...we hope! We are currently 82º, the TS in the area has dropped our temps just a bit. Hope all in it's main path are ready....looks like it will be lots of rain.

Hot! Hot! HOT! The amount of buckets I have sweat, would melt the Wicked Witch of the West. 😏 These temps above 100F are killing me.

We are finally getting some rain from what is left of this TS that hit the Gulf coast. We are only catching the tail end of a couple of bands....so hope we get enough to really wet us down good...we really need it.

How many of you live in the Pacific Northwest and do not have AC? This looming heatwave looks pretty scary. My son is there but he does have a camper that has AC. Record tempuratures coming this weekend.

Record tempuratures coming this weekend. OMG. I have a/c and I'm still melting! Does he have access to a pool or anything? Unless his camper has REALLY good insulation, he'll probably be cooler outside of it. At least during the day. (That's been my experience.) I hope he's able to get some relief somehow. I bought a kiddie pool and set it up on my back patio, when I didn't have a/c. It was not deep, but big enough for me to float on a blow up raft. It worked well. I'd do it again. 😉😊

Record tempuratures coming this weekend. It was either on the Weather Channel this morning or the news on Good Morning America where they were talking about the current and future heat wave in the Northwest. It stated only 33% of the homes in Seattle had air conditioning. Here in Memphis I think about 98% of homes have air conditioning.

My son is living in an apartment with no AC but has access to his camper to sleep in if it gets really bad. He says the camper has good AC. Looks like it will be brutal for a few days!

No ac. It got to 95 degrees inside the main body of my house. 103 outside. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse. I'm living in the basement. It's about 10 degrees cooler.

Tomorrow starts the 100+ days with no end in sight. That is my problem with this heatwave, I can usually see that it will break in a couple of days or a week. I have looked at forecasts that extend for 2 weeks for some hope and there isn't one day that is supposed to have a high under 100 degrees. I will try to conserve electricity, because I know that is a big worry, along with the safety of those who lack AC.

Oh, jeez! That's rough! Being so hot, with no a/c, or not using a/c. I will always remember trying to sleep at night, when I didn't have a/c. Ugh. I have hot 'phases' (not flashes) in which I get crazy hot, even with a/c. It's embarrassing. Here's hoping cooler days are ahead.

Take cool showers several a day if you need to. Dine out. Let others cool you down. And if you have what we have here in Memphis, head to a city run cooling center. Those centers turn into warming centers in the winter.

Rain ........ blessed rain.
Been raining steadily for about 15 minutes, typical monsoon rain. Getting lighter now and the dry ground will soak it in within the hour. We've had quite a few fires in the desert and there is a good chance for mud slides in those areas.
Hopefully tomorrow we won't have idiots lighting fireworks and starting a disaster.

No rain today, but we have had rain nearly every day for almost a week. More in the forecast as the TS moves this direction...and maybe a LOT of rain later in next week as that storm moves north.
Hoping everyone in it's path are keeping an eye on it...just in case. Mother Nature can be unpredictable.

It's just hot and dry here. My car feels like dragon's breath when I get in it, at the end of the day.

Rain that we needed badly. Supposed to rain on and off for the next 24 hours. Some areas are getting more than others.

We are getting rains off Elsa. We had a major down pour earlier in late afternoon. More will be coming. At least it is keeping us a bit cooler...we stayed in the upper 70's today.
Hope everyone in the storm's path stay safe. It has been upgraded to a hurricane again.

Hot. Hot. And more hot. Followed by hot. Dang! It is so hot! We're still having record breaking highs. No wonder we a having a drought. When I get in my car in the late afternoon, it feels like I can't breathe, the air is so hot and dry.😲 And they haven't opened our pool yet, which doesn't make me happy.😓 But they make it appear open. All nice and clean looking (for unsuspecting new tenants, I assume). I told them it's a water feature. Not a pool. 🤨
Did I mention that it's hot here?

The temperature is still rising today. Depending on who you check with it will top up somewhere between 29C and 31C. The wildfire smoke is noticeable but not apocalyptic.
The puppies have been moved to the back porch but one of them had to be moved to the air conditioned bedroom last night for a couple of hours. Poor little guy couldn't stop panting. On the plus side, he got to have his mommy all to himself. Hopefully DH can figure out a way to corral them all in the bedroom this afternoon so we don't have a repeat tonight. Unlike during the heat dome heat wave, the temperatures are dropping at night so they can go back later.

We got a late storm just while ago...it was short lived, thank goodness...we are already soaked for the TS as it went to our east. At least we stayed in the mid 80's today...and that's about all that is forecast for the next week also.

I heard yesterday was 105F. Today was supposed to be even hotter. Tomorrow is predicted to be 101F.
I spoke to the mgr about the pool opening. It turns out the biggest concern with opening it is the large homeless population in the area. They have no problem with it being private property, or hopping the fence. Then there's issues with drugs, needles, drowning, violence, along with keeping the pool clean. Apparently there were people bathing in the pool earlier this week. And they have to keep the doors unlocked to the restrooms. Ugh.
The homeless people have been a huge PIA the last few years! I shouldn't have to be afraid to come and go from my apt. And I should be able to use the amenities offered to those who pay rent, without issues caused by the homeless.

I think if you are homeless, almost all dignity has been taken from you, so you are probably uncaring of boundaries because probably almost no one cares for yours. I don't really know, but I have watched several films that broached the topic of homelessness, two of them were short term homeless heroes who emerged triumphant. At least one or more films were set in foreign countries and pretty eye opening. I wish I could remember their titles, as I'd recommend them as something to watch. Many people become homeless when they can no longer afford market rent, and shelters are often like the street, just with the amenity of a bed to go along with side eye all night in an effort to keep what belongings you do have left. I had a XBF intentionally go homeless for about 6 months in this area, however, he knew he could abandon the experiment at any time so his experience would be different than the average homeless person, however I do know a few tricks for survival because of his experiences. I hope you and your mgmt can find a way to open the pool safely. Has anyone contacted local or state govt for solutions yet?

I think the front of Elsa is over for our area. Not sure how bad it was, will check later. I think we get the back end sometime later this evening looking at the projected thunderstorms, but IDK. The weather guy scared me enough last night with weather projections, I had a hard time getting myself to bed. Lots of warnings like I have heard for Sandy and other named storms. All the weather peeps and major TV stations seem to have developed new graphics for showing how really bad some areas have been hammered or will be hammered. At least now I know the unusal blue color means hail for whatever area. I think Bergen county got slammed. Beautiful home in Ridgewood was in the news. Tree poked through a bedroom, large tree on power lines and one or more men swinging on lines to jump on the second story roof to cut the tree out, etc. This is why you do not let your home insurance lapse. We have flood warnings, so I hope the local river does not crest over the bridge and cut me off from some shopping and banking. Good ole summer storm season.

Ever since they said it's no longer illegal to panhandle and started letting them live on the streets, the problem has exploded everywhere, IMO. Why they feel like they should get free housing, food, utilities, internet, transportation, health care and entertainment is beyond me. Who wouldn't want that? I know they have issues. So do I. That doesn't give them more rights than anyone else. I don't have any answers. But what they're currently doing isn't working.
