I remember reading where Barbara Streisand was lecturing people to give up their clothes dryers and string up clothes lines in their yard again. I wonder if she has some at her ocean side mansion? DH and I totally disagree on the clothes line thing. I think if you want to hang clothes on the line in your own yard and you haven't signed an agreement like HOA CCRs where you agree with the neighbors not to, then it's OK. He thinks it looks hick. Well, I agree with him that it looks hick, but think the benefits are more important than my worry about looking hick. So I do live in an ocean side house - mine's not a mansion but plenty of the houses around us are - and hang my clothes on the line to dry. ETA - but that has nothing to do with what any celebrity recommends. As with everything else, it's because it's what works best for me and my family.

In an effort to keep breathing, my clothes go in the dryer. The last thing I need with an off the charts pollen allergy is to have more pollen on my clothes. I do hang a lot of stuff to dry inside though.
If someone wants to use a clothes line go for it. I can think of many other things I don't want to see in the neighbor's yard!

I wish I could. There's nothing better in the summer than the smell and feel of crisp sheets on your bed.

If my neighbor wants to hang sheets or do most anything else in their yard, they should. I am simply too lazy to hang sheets when i have a perfectly good dryer right beside my washer.

Nobody in my family would have a problem with asking anyone what's up with the food. We're also not know for being tactful. And once my mom or one of her sisters found out, they would be on the phone with the other 8 brothers and sisters, who would then call one of the 55 children (my generation), who would then call their children (I'm one of the youngest of my generation)...we aren't tactful and we gossip Holy crap...are we related? I swore my mother had all her sisters (9 of them) on speed dial so they could gossip about anything and everything.

My family is crazy dysfunctional in that we don't ask questions but always leap to the worst possible conclusions. For instance, if my Mom had a relative show up at our house for Thanksgiving with his own food in his own Tupperware, she would pretend that she didn't notice him over there eating his own food. She would never say a word to him or ask him why he was doing that. Afterwards, she would complain bitterly to every member of the family EXCEPT that uncle that "Uncle Buck hates my food and thinks I can't cook," or "Uncle Buck thinks I'm trying to poison him." Then she would sulk for about 18 months, refuse to speak to Uncle Buck, get mad at any other family members who continued to speak to Uncle Buck because that would be disloyal to her, and she would continue to talk trash about him behind his back. We don't ask. We just bitch behind their backs about them. (Well, some of my family members do - I try very hard not to follow their example). Do we have the same mother?

We are very open about our dietary needs, and our health issues. Some are open about other aspects of their lives, but most of us like our privacy including me.
