I had to squash a bad thought. I sleep to get rested. Get up, then work out to get tired. If it weren't for the mirror, this sequence would change. interesting TL Star? I think I like that or agree with ya? for me - I don't get tired after exercising. but then again I'm always tired. at this age.I did have a good workout and DH said I looked tired when I got home. My food intake was healthy until that stupid Dr. Oz mentioned potato chips. I'm out of real potatoes so I couldn't microwave any. I dove into the bag. Taking itty bitty bits and long chewing helped for a few chips. Dr Oz!! he gets to me as well sometimes when I catch the tail end of his show.

Another thought to squash. What reason do I have to build strength and endurance? I do prepare for vacations with exercise. I do play sports and this enhances my performance. My overall health.
What brought this up was an article on marathon preparation. Other than personal satisfaction of goal reaching, friends, and bragging rights, what else is there?
The outer limits of endurance and training keep pushing farther.

The building of strength and endurance translates into better and stronger bones, for one thing. Less likely to fracture them as you get older, a real problem for the aging population especially women, due to calcium loss. If you haven't had a bone density test, yet, it's something to consider. You might be unpleasantly surprised at where you are now.
Muscle tissue won't necessarily grow with exercise, but it will get stronger, which means you will be able to lift, move and stay flexible longer.
Oh, and the whole bragging rights thing - yeah, I happen to love that part, but that's me. ;D

I do need to update my bone density; and yes, even with weight bearing exercise, the last screening test indicated to do the xray. The article is CrossFit Endurance. The link is below. www.outsideonline.com/fitness

Let me tell you - the push at the end before taper sucks big time. If I survive and finish my marathon, I deserve bragging rights! It isn't easy and it isn't fun when the mileage gets up there (I had a bad training day).

Truth is, I don't have that many people I can brag to. My circle of braggability (I think I just made up that word) is pretty small. But I'll take it, And Steph should certainly brag as well, regardless of the marathon's outcome. Just getting there is a good fight in itself.
I did a 6.2 run today, which is my race next Saturday. Last competitive event for the year, as I am scheduled for surgery on 12/26.

You're scheduled for surgery on Boxing Day? That sucks. I guess you celebrate Hanukkah, not Christmas, right? But if you were invited to a Christmas feast, I guess youd probably have to decline - since most surgeries require you to fast the night before.

motivation level = MEDIUM
I am going with medium instead of High cause I did exercise. I knew I have lots of errands and it included moving around a lot. so far I still have lots of energy! I so very much like feeling energized! Though I didn't start out that way - but now I am still feeling good!

yea medium again. I wouldn't say low cause I did exercise this morning. But I would say high cause I know I could have done more, I had to force myself to exercise in the first place. about to go wax the SUV in a few before it rains. that's some exercise. HEY good news is I didn't sweat yesterday when I waxed the show car! ;D
so does that mean I'm getting stronger? or because of the weather is so cool out? unlike summer I was like a frickn water fountain of sweat waxing the show car. but now after weeks on top of weeks exercising and my absolutely lovely winter season - I waxed that car without any issues! and fast too!
;D

I celebrate Chanukah, and I am going to a friend's house for dinner on Christmas. The presurgical fast is 8 hours. Surgery is at 10 a.m. and it is relatively minor (being done in the doctor's office). We eat at 6 p.m. No alcohol the night before, but I'm fine with that.
I should be able to go out for Boxing Day (I have friends from Commonwealth countries, and we traditionally go to a local pub) if the anesthesia is local only. If the doctor uses the twilight stuff, then probably not.

LOL yes it's winter season and I waxed the SUV Sunday no sweat at all with a sweater on! love winter season! did good numbers today this morning! but as I sit here I keep thinking to exercise NOW! I feel the strength running through my body - but mental block keeps me in my chair - just thinking ok in a minute I'll start!

Have you had it before?

I've done the twilight stuff for foot surgery and skin cancer removal. It's a misnomer, really, or at least it was for me. I'm just as out of it as I would have been for full anesthesia. The difference was that unlike full anesthesia, I did not suffer any aftereffects, like loss of hair.

I like the mentioning of motivation levels described by ZinHD.
Now I sometimes get motivated for a workout and can exercise hard, yet at times I am lazy in moving my arse around. Being anemic is may be the cause. I am planing to lose weight/tone my body. I would like to get rid of my curves somehow.

my mood changes so much - but always thinking of exercising - doing the push harder part or just doing something. I so enjoy when all the parameters work together and I exercise with a smile.

motivation level = LOW sadness it's low this morning - had to go the extra 5 minutes to put up better than average numbers. I did not have the energy. did not feel like exercising at all. moved kinda slow. But then again a positive note I did go the extra 5 minutes over my minimum of 30 minutes on the exercise bike. also I finished with better than average numbers.

I did not have the energy. did not feel like exercising at all. moved kinda slow. it's because I miss my x-best friend. it's been 3 days now and no word from her - she's not speaking to me, for what ever reason she comes up with now and again. But then again a positive note I did go the extra 5 minutes over my minimum of 30 minutes on the exercise bike. also I finished with better than average numbers.
