I'm not really interested in the Presidents state of the Union, it wouldn't matter if it was a Republican, the SOTU has just been a political commercial for as long as I can remember. I would like a President to provide a written report and give a short actual state of the union, but that is never going to happen no matter who becomes president.

They should call it the State of the Union According to Barack Obama, since it will all be lies...

Nancy Pelosi Declines Eric Cantor's State Of The Union Proposal House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has begged off sitting with Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) at Tuesday night's State of the Union Address, publicly announcing that she has already made other arrangements. "I thank @gopleader for his #SOTU offer, but I invited my friend Rep. Bartlett from MD yesterday & am pleased he accepted," Pelosi tweeted to Cantor Tuesday afternoon. Bartlett is a Republican. NBC News reported earlier Tuesday that Cantor had extended the invite to Pelosi, something of a surprise given the two lawmakers' contentious history. Indeed, as recently as Monday, Cantor took a swipe at Pelosi when discussing potential State of the Union seatmates. "I would love to have the opportunity for her to engage in some type of working relationship so that we can actually deliver results," he said on Monday, according to NBC. "Thus far, it seems she is continuing to drive the ideological agenda just the same as she did over the last four years." www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/25/nancy-pelosi-eric-cantor-sotu_n_813763.html

Why do people expect a President or any politician to make their lives better? Why do people have such dependence on the government to change their lives? What does she want, a personal check?

Funny. Well, Bush sure proved that a president can make their lives a helluva lot worse, so why couldn't a president make their lives better?
I think she would just like to have the opportunity to "earn" a personal check.

Those who generally support him will talk about how well he did and those who generally do not support him will talk about how poorly he did. And bears will continue to be Catholic.

I thought Obama did ok overall. I don't necessarily agree with everything he said, but there is a lot of positive possibilities by doing some of the things he mentioned. Now we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Listening to his speech - O says he will veto legislation with earmarks - what a crock Yeah, I had a laugh. I also thought it got eerily quiet when he talked about drastic cuts in spending. I thought maybe Congress started crying or something.

Anyone watching the Paul Ryan rebuttal? He's a nice up and coming young fascist with great ideas from the Dark Ages.

Can Obama Win Back Velma?
I'm not sure I understand. It says she was a CFO of a veterans services organization and that she was "laid off". Typically a CFO does not get laid off but simply fired for incompetence or embezzlement. Not sure what she thinks Obama can do for her.

I think Pelosi was afraid of losing her virginity.
I thought his speech signaled a real move to the center. You didn't have to listen to the speech but just watch the number of times pubs rose and dems stayed seated. My question is what is up with Michelle Bachmann? Does anyone in the Tea Party really want her speaking for them? My second question is who painted her face for her? If they ever remake the 50's movie 'the creature from black lagoon' she can quit congress and audition for the lead role.

It did seem more centered, as opposed to what we've been hearing for that last 2 years. Now we just have to wait and see what happens.

Obama's continuing shift toward centrist governance is causing heartburn on the left. I suspect he assumes the economy will have rebounded enough by 2012 that he won't need all his base that put him in the White House.

Who are you going to vote for Lak, and I think you underestimate the need for moderates to vote for a candidate. At least you admit that you don't want any type of centrist view by a President.

Some of what he said in terms of job creation will take about 8 years to see any effect. By that time he won't be president but who ever follows will get the glory. But we must start somewhere. If Europe is any indication the high speed rail idea will take 20 years. My big question is where is the money going to come from? I think high speed rail is a good idea but very expensive. I would have liked to hear about modifying NAFTA and other trade agreements that give us a level playing field. He talked about training people from other countries studying here and returning to their home countries to compete against us. His point was to let them stay here as citizens. What he did not say was that many of those trained here are under their governments sponsorship and have an obligation to go back.

Well, first of all, who is running?
Obama's appeasement of Blue Dogs and radical righties has resulted in watered down legislation. FACT: Obama has not governed the way many who sent him to the White House expected - and hoped for.
