Anderson Cooper Wallops Bachmann For 'Flunking History' (VIDEO)Michele Bachmann was the subject of Anderson Cooper's "Keeping Them Honest" segment last night, for her comments last weekend that to America's diversity-conscious first settlers, "it didn't matter the color of their skin, it didn't matter their language, it didn't matter their economic status." The segment was subtitled "Flunking History," which Cooper explained was because Bachmann's comments "are either a deliberate rewriting of our history, or signs that she has a shaky grasp on our history." In her remarks, Bachmann also said that "we also know that the very founders that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States." Cooper noted that she declined to appear on the show to defend her remarks, and didn't respond to a request for comment. How is "The Tingler" anyway? Don't hear much from him anymore...now that Obama worship is on the wane and the Clinton situation is too depressing for words, he just seems kind of lost...

Fortunately, Congress' medical benefits include substance abuse programs and the Betty Ford Clinic has a bed ready with Michele Bachmann's name on it.

She definitely needs a new speech writer and quite talking off the top of her head. The truth is that the first settlers were, when it came to religion a very intolerant group. The founders must have been very old if they worked on the documents that abolished slavery.

Mr. ed1066, this statement is so comical to me it is hard to imagine.
By the way, what does anyone care what Anderson Blooper has to say? He is actually a lousy journalist that for some reason was foisted into the prime time seat for reasons unknown. I remember they stuck him in with the real political analysts like Wolf Blitzer during the primaries and he couldn't come up with much to say then all of a sudden blurted into the conversation with a babble of nothingness and Blitzer looked at him as if to say, man.. you're like a fish out of water.

I think it was because of his hair. Also, I think it's likely he has pictures of someone high up at CNN in a "compromising" position...

"Now why would you say that?"
I just watched a clip of her saying that the founders " worked tirelessly" until slavery was eradicated. WTF? Who are the voters that sent this ignoramus to Congress? She even more ignorant than Sarah Palin!

Interesting slant. Mrs. Burns thought the main reason was for his "looks" and his appeal to the soccer mom types right up to ancient grannies. Whatever, it certainly wasn't for his professional capabilities.

Michele Bachmann State Of The Union Response Downplayed By GOP Leadership GOP leadership reacted coolly Monday to news of Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's secondary Tea Party-sponsored State of the Union rebuttal, stating matter-of-factly that Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is the Republican who will be speaking for the party. "Paul Ryan's giving the official Republican response," House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) told reporters, according to Slate's Dave Weigel. "You know, Michele Bachmann, just as the other 534 members of the House and Senate, [is] going to have opinions as to the State of the Union. And again, this is a process that happens every year, and I look forward to all comments. But it's Paul Ryan that's giving the official response." Later pressed on why each of those other legislators hadn't made arrangements to televise their own response, complete with press coverage, Cantor appeared to put some of the blame on the media for focusing on Bachmann, saying, "Well, then, maybe I should ask: Why is that the case?" Michael Steel, spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), told the Wall Street Journal that people could expect to see those other statements on a variety of other mediums. "Whether it is through a press release, Twitter, the internet, on television, radio, via Facebook, or by other means, virtually every Member of Congress will share their thoughts on the President's State of the Union," Steel said. Bachmann's version is expected to be streamed live on the Tea Party Express website after the actual GOP response ends, WSJ reports, noting that some of the Minnesota congresswoman's remarks will also be carried on network television. www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/24/michele-bachmann-state-of-the-union_n_813362.html

Well - my take away is Ryan is the official GOP spokesman and Bachman is more or less speaking for the TEA Party
What I don't get - is what point are you trying to make?
And what you see as the problem
The GOP and the TEA Party are not the same

She is an idiot. She also thinks she's a beauty queen (with elephant ears). I also wonder what kind of people would send someone like her to Congress. Is Minnesota really that deranged? Am I allowed to use the "R" word...?

I don't know much about her but if this is what a left wing, Peter robbing liberal thinks of her then I'm going to assume she's alright.

CNN was the only major media outlet that I saw airing Bachmann's deranged rebuttal. I didn't even see it on Fox.
I think CNN is trying to attract some folks who bag tea.

Chris Matthews: Michele Bachmann A 'Balloon Head' (VIDEO) On Tuesday's "Hardball," Chris Matthews was so incredulous about Michele Bachmann's interpretation of American history that he called her a "balloon head," and he could hardly keep himself from yelling at a co-founder of the Tea Party group which has selected the Republican to give a response to President Obama's State of the Union address. Matthews was speaking to Tea Party Express co-founder Sal Russo. He played the same tape which had also gotten Anderson Cooper riled up, where Bachman lauds the Founding Fathers for working "tirelessly to end slavery." "I don't know what to make of that, Sal," Matthews said. "That's balloon head. That's not what our history was founded on. We founded on a Constitution which...treated slaves as three-fifths of a person. It went all the way to the Civil War." Matthews derided Russo and his group for making Bachmann their spokesperson. "Why do you put someone like this forward who is a balloon head?" he said. "Who knows no American history? It's a ridiculous decision you guys have made. Do you know how little this woman knows about our history?" Russo started to respond, but Matthews interrupted him. "Did you just hear that stuff?" he said. "Did you just hear? You want me to play it again? We can rub it in, Sal. It's horrendous." WATCH: www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/25/chris-matthews-michele-bachmann-balloon-head_n_814033.htmlMatthews sucks, but he's right about Bachmann.

Fortunately, Congress' medical benefits include substance abuse programs and the Betty Ford Clinic has a bed ready with Michele Bachmann's name on it. Now why would you say that? Because Bachmann is a woman and a conservative...two things that really piss off the progressives. The comments from the more progressive posters above should provide enough proof of this.

She is much like Sarah Palin in that she doesn't instill confidence with her understanding of the issues, or her over all depth of knowledge. Rather like when people state that liberals dislike Sarah because she is attractive. No, that is not why we dislike Sarah. Comments like that make me wonder what the mindset of her supporters is.

Sweetie... i'm proud of the women who worked to give women equal rights in this world... i'm grateful... but the only thing that women like Bauchman and Palin prove is that its still all about looks... because Repubicans have some VERY, VERY smart women on their side... but no, its the vapid, ill informed, under-educated that get all the press... this woman is ridiculous... if she were a MAN... she would never get the play time... if she was ugly, or overweight... she'd never get the play time... It actually hurts women a lot, and i think detracts from the party, to have these women be chosen as spokes persons... really... how can you be taken seriously..? how can you actually be seen as a proponent of equality when the women you choose as spokepersons are beautiful, but brainless...
