My 6 yr old son sings this song and if he were to get kicked of school because of it, I do believe I would have to ask all the adults why they think they should work there when they are the perverts. A 6 yr old doesn't have a clue what sexy means. Only the adults do.

I think I was 26 before I realized what "cotton picking" really referred to. I knew people that used that phrase a lot when upset, I never realized it had negative racial connotations. I'm naive I just realized now that "cotton picking" has racial connotations. I thought it was just one of those southern expressions like "bless your heart". It was only a few years ago that I realized what the phrase "lazier than a pet coon" meant. Me three! I don't think I ever used it but I never knew it had racial connotations to it. If anything I would have thought it had something to do with being in the hot sun for too long.

I always heard "You must be out of your cotton picken' mind!" I thought it meant you had cotton for brains and picken' was similar to freakin' so it meant: "...your stupid freakin' mind". Dang, I hope I've never used that phrase if that's what it means. ETA: Nah. I just say "dumber than dogshit". I'm good!

I feel so much better that I wasn't the only one that didn't realize cotton picking was a sort of racial insult. H had to explain it to me & he made it sound like people are pretty sensitive to the phrase in parts of the south.
