Maybe the pianist should have just stuck to "Chopsticks".

I'm pretty sure that the Republicans paid Lang Lang to play the song at the State dinner. It seems to fall right in line with their push to embarrass the White House at any chance they get ------------------------------------------------------------------- There ya go, a poster who finally got to the meat of the matter and got it correct. About time. Thank You. Just brillient, you are to be congradulated.

Why is it bad that he played an anti-American tune again?

Why is it bad that he played an anti-American tune again? He was invited there to entertain, not make a political statement.

But entertainment is the best place to put political statements. Plus, it sounds more like he intended to be pro-China as opposed to anti-America. Whatever though. I'm not pro or con either as a whole.

I'm not pro or con either as a whole. I don't disagree with the first statement but time and place makes a difference. I am not sure what he "intended" to do. The particular song was both a pro-China and anti-American by its history. I think that the artist exercised poor judgment in his choice of song. I place no more significance in the event than that.

Agreed. Poor taste, but not an international relations nightmare and definitely not a reflection of what Obama believes

Did he tell you that after the event? And how long have you known the president? Or are you guessing?

Yes, as a matter of fact I received a friendly phone call right after their dinner. They had steak and Obama remarked, "That Hu fellow is quite funny, he mentioned during Lang Lang's performance that the choice was necessary so that when he returned home that he would not be laughed at for bowing to the American president."
That and I used logic. Maybe you've heard of it?
