So, according to Mid, all you business owners have nothing to fear. Increases in insurance premiums of all kinds, increases in the prices of raw materials because of global demand, increases in fuel costs, again because of increased world demand, increases in demand for finished products you may use in your business operations due to increased demand, increases in taxes, utilities, wage increases, etc. They mean nothing to your bottom line and do not contribute to the rising cost of your products. Only the printing of money makes everything cost more. Thanks for clearing that up Mid. As you monitor rising food prices, pay attention to things like BEEF and grains, because those two commodities are more in demand in DEVELOPING countries and as more affluent workers demand better food availability, seed and feed companies will provide what they need as will American farmers and ranchers at a cost reflective of the demand which no doubt will be higher. But that's not inflation.....I mean, just because we pay more for stuff doesn't mean it's inflation right? As long as those price increases are caused by supply/demand they don't really count right? Geez.......What a pud.

"Tell me about the inflation in Europe after the gold influx from the spanish american colonies into spain. You tell me about it, and why I'm wrong?"
Mid,
As long as you want to talk about the past, why don't you explain to us how we could have inflation in the early 1900's when our currency was backed by metals? After all, you stated that Nixon took us off of the gold standard. So, how could we have inflation in 1910 with gold and silver backed currency? Could you enlighten us on this? Seriously, you never addressed this. Then we can get to the Spanish and what happened 500 years ago because that is certainly relevent in a 4G society....

"I don't answer sarcastic questions, why not pick up a history book and read something."
No, you don't answer ANY questions, because your answers would not stand up to the scrutiny your sources, if any, would receive on these threads. Just ask your brother Decoy.

"Kman: direct question: Tell me about the inflation in Europe after the gold influx from the spanish american colonies into spain. You tell me about it, and why I'm wrong? You said I know nothing, then you teach me something."
Yes kman, tell us. Because I can just imagine in some way that we can use that information to invest in 21st century companies..........By the way, I think Borge got a bad rap too....

Damn! With all of this "greener pasture" talk, what will become of the DG&C Index?!! I knew I should have sold it to NASDAQ when I had the chance!

Just when you thought it was over, now new salvos in the "Smite Wars" have one noted D&Ger all riled up to the point of actually starting a thread about taking KARMA! Some savy traders were buying stocks late into the trading day today. One noted trader confided: " This could be the start of the next leg to the upside, and it could be big!"

For readers interested in something more substantive that Q's tired satire, ZH is barely keeping up with the greatest run of green shootey news to come out in a long time: Bystanders reported that Frank Q's head exploded shortly after noon on Thursday. Doctors were able to save his life by grafting an oversized cantaloupe to his neck. "The surgery was an amazing success," Mark Gimmel, Chief Resident at Doomyview Hospital told reporters. "His family is already commenting about his improved charisma."

Tell you what Virg, get some work life experience behind you, live through a few recessions and come back and we'll talk. You're much too young to be so cynical.

Sorry Q-TIP there was a bit of delay on our part in getting ready from your return from the coma/head trauma you received. Won't happen again, very sorry. Sorry we couldn't afford a really trumpet playing band, so we borrowed one the rat pack cats for help. And here is your hat, hopefully we got the right size after the whole head thing, sorry if it's too small, since we heard you have major inflammation and swelling of the brain, that the hat is probably too small for your giant head.

Don't get your 'Depends' all up in a knot, gramps.
Seriously: we have a day where silver hits a new high, every major data point concerning jobs is headed downward, and now Iran is sending warships to the world's oil lifeline.
On any given day, Mid gets regularly (and often, deservedly) pummeled by about sixteen of you. Today is the one day where he gets to stand tall, put his hands on his hips and jubilantly declare "the sky is falling!"

Virg,
Keep believing that the world sucks, and it will. But only for you. Iran is the least of your problems, but if it makes you guys feel better to believe in perpetual crisis and the end of times, enjoy. As far as Mid, well, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
