ModE I do not like being in last place but this week our benchmark has been almost flat as of Wed. close and I am less than 5% out of first place.
I disagree the game is a crapshoot. I think I have been beating the benchmark more than 50% of the time but have not kept any records on this. The game would be more educational if people would give more explanation about why they made their pick each week.

Clarkrl2, yes you are correct. Of course, opinions differ on the game's aspect. Some see it "educational" and others just a fun game, some probably a waste of time.... oh well, to each their own. It is probably a mixture of it all. but a challenge if one takes it seriously. Here is what rovo has requested from participants.... "To enter the game: List your stock's symbol, Long or Short, Company name, what the company does and why you like the selection." Guess we all are guilty of ignoring the details.  |

Clark, I'll try to give more detail about my picks and I do think that it is a crapshoot in terms of having the biggest gain in a mon-fri timeframe, but not in the sense of trying to figure out which issue is likely to make a move.

I'll try to do a better job when I make a selection too.
I think it is pretty much of a crap-shoot and yes, it's a game to me. Sorry if that doesn't sit well with some of you.
It's very hard to pick one stock that will do well for one week the way the market has been for quite awhile. Now if this were back before all the changes that have taken place....it was MUCH more predictable back then....at least for me. And I'm talking 15-20 yrs. ago!

clarkrl2,..........(1) note this time. UGH. (2), I agree with you that more data typed in by folks makes it a more educational board (3). And once again, I think Rovo does a really excellent job with his contest; he's prompt, accurate, courteous, etc., etc. & running a contest is a lot of work.... I ran one for 38 months a few years ago over on a Microsoft board ( I used the old Lotus123, & wish I still had it ).
(4). For me personally, I'm happy with someone only giving a symbol. If I have time, I go thru my own "research effort" if I'm interested. As you know, there's so much "stock advice" out there, anyway. When someone "tauts" a stock to me....sometimes, I'll come back with: "Are you recommending this for a day trade ?, perhaps a week ?, or a long time, perhaps a month ?... LOL,
or are you buying it for your Grandkids ? LOL. Computers/ internet/ have certainly changed the brokerage industry. I remember the day ( about 50 + years ago), when you got your broker on the phone, to buy, & he might call you back a few hours later, whether you bought , & what you paid, and his fee was mucho amount to what you pay this day and time. I had computer wireless connection problems most of yesterday; now it's in the middle of the night, computer is working great. You'all have a good day.

Thanks all. Even the blind sow finds an acorn every now and then. I feel honored to be able to play the game with such intelligent and good people. Actually would have been happier to finish last. Then my real life positions would have done better.
