On to more positive subjects... A friend of mine sent this link this morning: silverbearcafe.com/private/04.12/thrive.htmlA product of the lunatic fringe? Perhaps. Interesting, at the very least. And for all I know it might represent the views of several people here. For those of you who don't like clicking on links, I've embedded a lower-quality YouTube version of the same video. So what say you? Mindless new age propaganda? Conspiratorial claptrap? Or something to get excited about?

There were quite a few rational statements made in the video, but not quite enough to compensate for the aliens or the glowy orb thing on the table in front of the green screen.

I thought that was what Scientology was for? To be the superior race and lord over all of us minions. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I have to admit I wish there was something more to that, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Humanistics and all that. We're Doomed. DOOOOOOOOMED!

Does anyone know if the people in the video are still alive? I worry for their safety. the people in power knows no bounds to protect their interests.

That was Elvis's mistake. He was getting too close to the truth. His song, "Do the Clam" carried a secret coded message that he was trying to tell the world. To this day, scientists are still trying to decipher it!

That was a whole bunch of nothing. It's like a lot of what is out there now, completely free of substance. It makes a big, bold promise, but provides ZERO data, no evidence, not a single method or means of achieving it. It's perfect for this generation which I believe is one that is no longer capable or willing to endure reason, or sound doctrine. One that instead prefers to have this cadre of teachers telling them great and wonderful things they wish to hear, whether they are true or not. A generation that is ever learning, but wouldn't know the truth if it slapped them across the face.

*lol* But what if it's true? ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/charmed.png) That's presumably what's in the movie. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I'd say that this is more characteristic of humans in general. I find people in the 50+ age range much more willing than 20-somethings to smile and cluck their tongues when the issue of SS going bankrupt comes up. It's also what some religious folk say about atheists. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Altogether, I take it not many here place too much stock in the "life flower" pattern, infinite energy thesis, and open conspiracy. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Remember, you don't have to accept it all as a bundle. Truth mixed together with malarkey is certainly much harder to discern, but this doesn't make it any less truthful. Some truth may only be accessible to the exceptionally open-minded.

The way you sway people is to mix untruths with truths. If the video hadn't mixed in aliens I would have thought that it was done by a political party. Basically it was just a conspiracy theory type film. THEY are keeping us down. We have the power, etc. I'm betting in caveman days a couple of the followers were saying the same type stuff about the leader (behind his back of course). Grog keeps the best food. Grog gets everything good. We should attack Grog & take over. After that.....call ME Grog. Having said all of that, I've heard stuff much less logical on these boards. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Why are so many people so negative when it comes to the idea that maybe aliens are trying to tell us something? Does anyone here really believe that someone here on our planet actually made those crop circles? If the aliens are intelligent enough to get here, they are intelligent enough to not come here.

Would anybody here watch the video? I realize that our widespread skepticism (and cynicism in some cases) is well-earned. But if ever a Thrive-esque theory came along and did have some merit, how would we recognize it? For instance, I find the notion of the US working its way out of its various debt crises roughly as absurd as the theory of alien abductions, but (insofar as I know) most P&Mers believe that "something" will right the ship. One could fairly describe me as a "doom n' gloomer", but I am rigorously open-minded in the sense that if I ever come across an even remotely feasible plan (i.e. one that doesn't assume two consecutive decades of 10% annual GDP growth), I'll jump the fence. Would we not benefit from the same tentative open-mindedness vis a vis wackier issues? What if a fringe research group claimed to have constructed a prototype zero point reactor? Would we bother looking into it? Come on, left-brained thinkers among us. I'm looking for at least one glimmer of curiosity. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

You'll have to quote the link rather than a text cut and paste. Or... ... ... did the ALIENS change the link! ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png)

Well, yuck, Virgil. Don't know what happened to that article! I think I did a cut/paste in the thread. I'll check.
Yep. I did cut/paste. Here's the article:
This week we're talking about fungus two ways. One that can survive exclusively on polyurethane and another that can replace Styrofoam.
Both polyurethane and styrofoam are not biodegradable, so without a solution, all the plastic bottles and old toys we throw out every year will be sitting in landfills for centuries.
Yes, you can recycle plastic, but that just means turning it into another product and recycling hasn't sufficiently slowed the production of new plastic.
According to a Yale study, globally we produced 245 million tons of plastic in 2006, compared to only 1.5 million tons in 1950.
One of the fungi we're looking at is called pestalotiopsis microspora. It was discovered by a group of Yale researchers on an expedition in Ecuador and can subsist on polyurethane alone in airless environments, like the bottom of a landfill.
The other comes from a couple of college friends who discovered that the sticky substance on the bottom of mushrooms called mycelium could be turned into a glue and when that glue is combined with corn husks and other food byproducts it takes on a form similar to Styrofoam. Their company, Ecovative wants used Styrofoam to become mulch, not waste.
A future with less plastic and more mulch, all thanks to fungus.

A green glowing object the size of a whale crashed into Bantam Lake in Connecticut last week. Two people called into police to say they saw it around 2am fall from the sky into the lake. One of the people that called in was a State Trooper.
No one has found any evidence of anything in the lake........................

Isn't a crop circle a crop circle? ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/idunno.gif) A crop circle is only a crop circle if is is actually a crop circle. Otherwise it is just a crop circle.

To address the video and the information contained therein, I am reminded of something a sports radio talk show host said. He said in order to make a name for yourself you need to make a bold prediction for every big game that is played. No one remembers if you make 100 wrong calls, but if you make 1 big bold correct call you can use it as proof of how good you are at analyzing and predicting games.
