That doesn't even sound like a riddle - it just sounds like a nonsensical partial sentence.

I appreciate all of the suggestions. The following is the truth: I'm dreaming. The dream is incredibly vivid; more so than any other dream I've had in my life, with two exceptions. I find myself in a cave with a high domed ceiling, illuminated by light shining through openings in the rock like clerestories. I don't recognize the place, but I could give you the exact geometry of the room, the textures, the layout down to every last shadowy nook. As as I'm examining the room—and I'm literally looking around to examine it—a woman dressed in very plain gray clothing enters the room (cave) through an opening about 30 feet away. She has dark blonde hair, a good complexion with light skin, average height, weight, and build, and plain features. I could describe her to near photo-realistic precision to a capable sketch artist. I've never seen her before in my life. She doesn't significantly resemble anyone that I know. I can't recall if she walks quickly or slowly to approach me, but I know that she climbs up onto the promontory where I'm seated, hands me a brown leather satchel a bit smaller than a typical leather purse with something metallic inside (I hear a tiny, dull clunk when I take the satchel). And she tells me, in a tone just slightly too anxious to be called 'casual', "You need to leave now. You'll be running like machete that cat paddles." The wording of "You need to leave now." is paraphrasing. The message was very close to this, but it might have been "You need to get out of here." or "Go out now.", etc. The wording "You'll be running like machete that cat paddles." is absolutely word-for-word accurate, and I know because I woke up immediately after the woman had said it and wrote it down so I wouldn't forget it. To me, the sentence was (and still is) complete gibberish. And I'm all but certain the dream is nothing more than random neurons firing without any significance. Still, the unique nature of the dream was disconcerting, and I know that EEers have started a number of threads that discuss the semiotics of dreams. I figured the words might be a close approximation to some line in a movie, or one of those "mad libs" where what you think you hear isn't what you really hear and rearranging the syllables can make sense of the expression. At any rate, what I'm hearing thus far in this thread suggests that the sentence has no obvious significance. It figures that one of the few dreams I'll likely remember for the rest of my life makes me sound nuttier than TD2K on acid. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

TD doesn't do acid.
He eats funny mushrooms, though.

You should go down to Kartchner Caverns and see if that is the room you were in.

I'm more intrigued by the room and the woman than by the sentence. care to elaborate more on those? maybe that will help figure out what the sentence means. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/idunno.gif)

Wouldn't we need to know more about what was going on in Virgil's life. Does the bag represent a secret you are carrying? Does the woman in grey represent something new and exciting, or something new and dull? Does the cave represent a feeling of being trapped? Etc.

The cave walls are an unremarkable brownish igneous rock. It doesn't look man-made. The floor is uneven. The rock is weathered. There's a low knoll in the center-far part of the room. There are several vertical-ish outcroppings on the right side of the room. They don't look crafted or shaped in any way, and they would be a waste of space if the cave was used as a dwelling place.
I can't see (or at least remember) most of the floor that's closer to me. I am close to one of the walls of the cave and it's about maybe 10 degrees off-vertical concave. The parts of the floor I can see are reasonably flat, with a few but not many articles of rock visible in the light.
It's the kind of cave that might be carved out by a river sinkhole.
The woman is shorter than I am, and it seems to me her eyes were at about my mouth level (I'm 5'11".) She has grayish-blue eyes, feminine features. Her hair is dark blonde and shoulder length. Straight, with some outturning at the ends. Thin eyebrows, but not remarkably so. And the only really distinguishing feature about her is that she has a very clear complexion, although I don't find her particularly attractive. Her dress is a darker gray with very few embellishments. Like a "work dress", if that makes sense. I either don't notice or don't remember her footwear, or any jewelry.
Any other details you'd have to ask me about on an item by item basis.
That's just the thing. Dreams are never symbolic for me. They're always mash-ups of recent memories, ideas, experiences, videos, etc.
But that means that even if I have a weird dream, I at least know where it "came from". And I honestly can't recall ever having a dream that somebody spoke gibberish.

I'd use my Helm of Disintegration, unless I was a Paladin. They can't use the Helm of Disintegration. In that case, I'd bust out my +7 Cock of The Infinite. Is it dark in the cave? You might be eaten by a grue. ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png)

Are you currently in the middle of solving or figuring out some work-related problem and you're stuck on the solution? Maybe the woman-figure in your dream is trying to guide you in the right direction to find the answer. She's ageless (wise) and has a clear complexion (a clear solution). You just have to search the dark cave (your mind) further to find what you're looking for (the answer).

Har har. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/miserable.png) I did play a fantasy-ish game at the end of last year, but it didn't involve any caves. The last fantasy-ish book I read was several years ago, and it didn't involve any caves either. No. It would be more like something you'd see a woman wearing in a photo from the 1920's or 1930's. Just a plain gray housedress. Maybe. But I'm in research and "in the middle of solving or figuring out some work-related problem and you're stuck on the solution" pretty much describes my entire profession. The problem I'm currently working on isn't exceptional.

The cave represents Jesus. The creepy woman is Jesus. The machete cat paddle thingy is stuff Jesus would say for $500, Alex. 'Nuff said. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)
